Thx.
It comes to 464 + tax CAD compare to 433 for my OEM T9800.
So it's 500 vs 433.
Good thing that I am not too worst off.

T9900 OEM goes for around $450 on ebay but in the US it can be bought for that $340 price. We can make a profit selling to Canadians!
-
Not really. Ebay charges seller around 10 to 15% depends on what feature you use. Then you need to pay some shipping and possible scam cost.
Not worth it for around 15% margin. -
I was only kidding. lol!

I'm having some issues with an X9100 that I have. It's CPU score in Vantage is around 6,200. Is that normal compared to the 12,000 I score with my QX9300? The thing just isn't running right. I have reset the CMOS and reseated the CPU several times. I swapped the QX back in to see if it was the system, but it scores around 12,000 every run. Is there something else I need to do to get the X9100 to 'take', so to say?
-
I have a question. Since loading up command center on my M17 I noticed it doesn't have AlienFX. Is it a separate install? -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Holy crap. I didn't even know there was a Command Center for the M17, let alone Alien FX. Those apps don't show up in the list, and I have never been able to get into My Hive. Thanks for the info on the X9100.
Fusion, you said your old X9100 ran really hot, do you remember how hot exactly? I can't get this one to get very hot at all. And one of the cores always seems to be about 10C cooler than the other. -
Like overheat hot, that's why I had to return them
TZ00 went to 103 deg
Core went to 93 deg before throttle down due to TZ00 over heating.
That's even after I undervolted it to 1.175. Default at 1.2v.
And it wasn't stable too. The chip might be faulty. -

No alienfx because all you get is keyboard control via fn+f10
one of the things I enjoyed gaining on my M17x. But don't you know by now to just remove and ignore control center???? -
The command center is just waste of space and ram.
I gave it few tries after fresh installs of windows, but I just couldn't take its uselessness.
Oh, so is the face recognition, takes away 10 seconds of my startups. Useless crap. Typing password is not so hard, it takes only 0.5 seconds. -
the only reason i actualy have the command center actualy on mine is because sin the last version of synaptic driver the option of not auto disabeling the touchpad is not present in the mouse option so i have to disable it through the command center
-
Command Center = revive the auto disable touch pad? -
it can revive it or kill it but in my case te option get to be enabeled for no reason from time to time and last time i had to instal command center to disable it since it was just after my win7 installation
-

The function keys (i.e. FN+F5 disables touchpad), still work without Command Center or OSD being installed. You just don't get the little visual prompt.
-
Is there an FN combo to control the fans?
-
-
-
We talked about a tool for "fancontrole" but I think in the end it was "given up", right?
Greetings
Julian -
the fn combo disable it for good what i mean is that i prefer my touchpad to remain enabeled when i plug my mouse in since i tend to lose my mouse from time to time and just using the pad is much faster
and ya in win7 you need command center to do so cause the option was removed from the synaptic interfase in command center in the last version of drivers
a tool for fan controle how? when no software can even read the actual fan speed of the m17 -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
all you need to do to make the fans howl is put the bottom cover back on haha.....it has pretty poor cooling

If not, fn F5 works for me. -
fn+f5 work for me two i can disable it and enable it but that's not the option i'm talking about
the little icon beside the hdd don't change when you plug-in a mouse
while the touchpad become innactive no mather what you do until you unplug the mouse that is the behavior i wishes to disable and it can only be done via command center -
Here's my first run with my Quad proc.

never got my ES over 3018 MHz sadly. Looking forward to giving my OEM QX9300 some M17 time whenever I finally get mine lol
-
It might be because my English is bad, I have a very hard time understanding you. You are talking about the auto disable touchpad feature when USB mouse is plugged in, right? And you don't want that feature, right? I try many things to have that feature to work, and you try many things to disable that feature? -
-
ok, now I found out what;s XTU. Do you know where can I download XTU that works on my M17?

anyone tried this on the NB chip ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835425007
it seems like it would cool off your NB, but u'll need to do some modifications on the original heatsink, cut off the part that covers the NB. -
It has to be thinner for the NB.
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Is there any evidence of the copper mod actually keeping the NB cooler than a standard pad? Wouldn't you need to use thermal paste on both sides of the copper? It would have been nice if that copper pad on the current heat sink continued from the CPU over to the NB.
-
exactly
heat sink
paste
Copper
Paste
NB
in that order -
Hey there Guys.
I am getting extremely frustrated and I'm really hoping someone can help me.
Here is my dilemma.
I just purchased a brand new Alienware M17X (duh) and I'm having a really hard time with the video cards.
When I first booted up my brand new (and extremely bad a$$) M17X it seemed like it only detected my NVIDIA GeForce 9400 and didn't run Crysis very well.
After looking around online I found out that this machine should have the GeForce 9400 along with the GeForce GTX 260M.
After doing windows updates, and installing numerous video drivers, (not to mention taking out the battery and holding down the button for 5 minutes to get rid of the blank black screen) I finally got the 2 video card to show up, and after drooling over the visuals on Crysis on High settings, I figured everything was gravy.
But I noticed that the audio on Crysis was very crackly and not working properly.
So I popped in the Alienware driver disc, updated the audio drivers, other drivers, and for some reason the GTX 260M driver... After doing so everything went to hell.
My 260M is no longer showing up and it seems like NOTHING I DO will get it back.
I tried doing the same update, tried other updates, and I've got nothing.
I am extremely frustrated and I really wanted to check on here first because I would rather not call phone support and have someone that doesn't speak english very well trying to help me out.
Here is an image of my NVIDIA control panel
Sorry for the long story, but I figured the more info given, the easier it is to diagnose.
If you want you can add me on MSN [email protected]
Thanks guys -
What happens if you press fn+f7? What does it say under graphics in the bios? Is hybrid enabled? -
-
what's the exact size of the copper should be?
I got a deal on it's about 0.7" by 0.7" with 0.032" height, is this about right?
0.032 inch = 0.08128 centimeters
I can get 50 of them. Anyone want to get a group buy and I mail it to you guys? -
I never measured it. It sounds a little big. Pull off the heatsink and measure the area where it makes contact with the NB.
-
Turns out the Alienware program wasn't working.
That would explain why FN+F7 didn't do a damn thing.
We are all good now !
Thanks dude -
-
i think 0.08 cm thickness should still be ok, right?
Anyone want it, so I can get the shop to do a bunch for us? -
K-tron is selling bunch of those shims. Can get some from him and saves some hassles.
-
sweet, how much are they?
-
check out his FS thread for more information its $1 per shims I guess and it is pre-cut
-
Ya just purchased some from K-Tron myself, he will cut them to what size you need and he has different thicknesses.
and its ~$1 per shim, and again he will cut it to the dimensions you request
Link to his for sale thread:

once i get the shims ill create a guide on how to mod the NB for those who are wondering how (i know i saw some wonderers somewhere)

I guess thes 2 threads are very active now :
