Huh, it works automatically after all the drivers. But I hate them, so I had to figure out away to disable them.

Why use those button when they are just 1 click away anyways?

My buttons work just fine in Windows 7. You need to make sure to install this and then use this to change the buttons.

    Take care!

    Hey guys,

I'm about to buy the m17x (just waiting for the core i7 processor). However I'm going to buy it with 4gb 1333hz ddr memory.

Does anyone know what config dell use for their 8gb ddr 1333hz memory. As in, 2X 4gb or 1X 8gb or 4X 2gb? Also which memory is the best to get? I heard kingston is.

Also how many memory slots does the machine actually have?

    Thanks a lot! :)

    2x 4g the machine have 2 slot of ddr3 204 pin

the thing most likely have 2 slot

but the i7 is not out yet and it's the wrong threat BTW

@DHC ya i'm thinking about it but it never worked for in win7 me even under the Release Candidate so i'm not sure going through the trouble of reinstaling windows is worth it

    Which is better, 1X 8gb 1333hz DDR3 RAM or 2X 4gb?

Also, what is the best memory make? Is it kingston? Can someone send me a link for the best memory possible for the m17x?

    Thanks again :)

Uhhhh, T5850 in an M17? It's a 478-pin socket P. Currently in my wife's Dell M1530, but I'm trying to sell the OEM QX9300 from my M17, and I can't have any down time. I realize the whole system would be running at 667Mhz if it did work, but it would be temporary. Thanks in advance for the info.

Are any other M17 owners using Windows 7(x64) getting frequent BSODs??

Its happening too often now for me to just ignore it. Whats more it can happen almost anytime specifically when I press a button.....it hangs for a second then BSODs? it can be doing almost anything from opening an application to turning the volume up in Windows media player?
    Any ideas guys!

BSOD are 95% of the time software related, or an OC is too far and causing instability

ehhh in window 7 it's almost impossible for an aplication to cause bsod

the only thing that can cause bsod (except an unresponsible oc) is a driver

From what you say it must be a driver then because I have never overclocked anything.
I was not saying that an application causes these BSODs only that it happens when I open up applications.
Hopefully it will sort itself out. Device manager is not showing anything unusual though.

It's mostly due to drivers or physical hardware damage like ram, HD, CPU, GPU, power supply, etc..

Yeah I hope its nothing physical......my warranty is due to expire in a few weeks and those dirtbags at Alienware will not let me extend it.
Would be just my luck that my laptop dies as the warranty runs out.
I have not had a BSOD for over 24hours now and have since updated System Mechanic and Silverlight.
    Thanks.

He is getting the doul m260ms in sli and the 1200p screen. Any help would be great he wants to order tonight but I told him to hold on and Ill ask a few questions. Anything else he should be aware of? Thanks again.
