Well they'll have to figure out a fix similar to yours then which doesn't involve modding.

Cool cool, hopefully you won't get any shuttering! After I thought mine was fixed, I got shuttering about day later, but the method I chose was never going to fix it, it was basically what AW tech tell everyone.

Oh yeah, I was also just thinking. If this fixes 90% of it but still leaves a tad due to power, maybe someone could probe around the MB with a voltmeter looking for voltage drops while under load? Reason I mention this is many MBs in desktops have some nasty Vdrop/droop and often times it's fixed via a new BIOS or even a pencil mod. =)

SORRY FOR THE BAD JOB. I JUST SHOWED PICS SO WE ALL KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. I WILL DO A FULL BETTER REPORT.
this is a picture from rkcomputers with the back open.
sorry i will write a better report but i have to run and i promised that i would do something
    [IMG]

sorry for the badd pictures but this was taking with my phone.
this is the gpu with nothing on it.
notice the memory chips, they are the black ones
    [IMG]

this is the heatsink. this is how the pads got on it. i decided the cut the pads.

at the bottom you see the pads on it. this is how it is when i recieved it. and at the right i cut them to fit on the memory chips alone.

    this is me :)

this is the finished job. NOTE: DO NOT PUT A PAD ON THE GPU. I TRYIED TO TEST 3DMARK AND IN 15 SECS I HIT 107 AND 108 ON THE GPUS. DO NOT PUT PADS ON THE GPUS.

    clean off the heatsinks
    [IMG]

this is the gpu. i recommend you to clean it off and then put as5 on it. my temps are right.

this the south brigde it is located near the battery i am going to copper mod it also
    [IMG]

this is the pad i had on it.

this is the northbridge. i put the extra pad on it for now. THIS IS WHY I TOOK OF THE GPU HEATSINKS AND CUT OFF THE PADS TO PLACE ON THE NORTHBRIDGE. but the copper mod is the best.

I Really Am Sorry For The Bad Example. I Will Revise It But I Promised Something. And I Produced It. I Will Rewrite It.

Also I Am Testing Other Cooling Methods. I Am Waiting For Some Copper To Come Up. But I Am Trying Pads On It.

i undervolted the cpu from original 1.2v to 1.750v at 3.06ghz clockspeed, and then i realized that cpu ran after 3dmark06 the heat reduced 8C

WOW... Don those photos are eh .. huge :p great work though. Does the system still stutter after that mod?

I am still curious about the copper mod everyone is talking about.. Might finally have some use for those 1-5 euro cent pieces :D However I have never polished anything before. I guess its gonna take some elbow grease.

Hopefully my MX2 will come in today.

I am still puzzled why AW never tried to separate pads on the GPU's. And use better conductive pads on the north and south bridge.

keep up up to date on what is happening. i couldn't do the copper mod myself because i didn't have any but halogod try it and it worked and so did zfactor and someone else. i used the thermal pads from the gpu memory that i had left after cutting them perfectly. right now. i have not stutter. it came one time today but i willl use the copper to elimate this issue.

it seemed as though the northbridge is a sensative spot for this notebook. i don't know why flex made the same heatsink for the cpu and NB.

Wow, thats a damn shame if it really is the cooling system that is faulty. I specifically purchased my Alienware thinking that someone who specializes in high end gaming laptops sure would know how to keep it cool, especially when their high end desktops come with liquid cooling.

    great pic mr moo!!!
    snowmobile are you stuttering?

marvie100. i wouldn't say that completely. yes i argee with you that the cooling show have been covered in all types of weather conditions.... and the fans should be more active. but my excuse for them is that flex made this system during the winter time. Lol.

also intel should of made the qx9300 better. for a expensive cpu it should be flawless. yes it is a quad core but the it should have a lower tdp.

It would have been here already ;x mailmanz already came.

So if its not here sat, or next thurs, or next sat then I get my money back.

    Seriously, its rediculous.

It "shipped out" from AW hq Miami, to USPS Miami Apr 21...but USPS did not recieve it until May 5th. Which makes me assume they got someone to walk it over to them instead of putting it in a truck like a good little boy would do.

So if I dont get it by next week, thats 2 months since I ordered it. My friend ordered an ipod May 5th and it got here today... My dad sent me a huge box with a whole bunch of crap on apr 27th and it got here May 3...

Why does it take so long for this package? who knows, I guess its not following its nose.

sorry for this long post, just venting ;x

I'm not getting something here, are you getting this system shipped to Africa? And if so, why is it coming from Miami? You do know what the 2nd A in EMEA stands for right?

ha yes it is getting sent to Africa. The military has its own postal service you know...FPO/APO AE addresses?

Anyways, I didnt want to get off topic lol

And Im guessing there is no second A? i dont get it

edit: and it shouldnt be coming from Miami, thats just where USPS accepted it. It should be coming out from NY I think..

Haha sorry guys, I was a little over-stressed about an interview earlier and I can't even count properly... (foot-in-mouth)

What I meant was that Europe-Middle-East-Africa is still the purview of the Athlone manufacturing center, but I understand if you had to get it through the military program that it would have been hard to do it through here.

Best of luck though and I hope you get it soon!
