yeah i wish i could overclock i know i can break 70fps if i didn't stutter.
i was reading the gog forums and mark is trying to them out
but no one is responding to him.
are you stuttering?

ocz is sending me a spare sink so when i get that we should be good to go for trying out some things
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
is it same day shipping?
-
no but at least i know ill have one here in case i damage this one or have to hack it up a bit
-
great looking foward to the results, even though i dont think its heat issue at all....stuttering occurs right after a cold boot without doing anything sometimes...and ill play GTA4 with no stuttering sometimes for 2 hours....very strange issue because 3dmark06 immediately stutters and drops frames sharply and has a very unstable framerate right from the get go.....and then sometimes it runs fine

well that's why we are going to figure out. i installed win7 again, and just installed 6the chipset. someone on here said he was going to try a usb audio device to see what up with it but i haven't seen him respond. does anyone know how to disable it threw the device manager?
-
?
In any case even if the stuttering isnt heat related it would be nice to have proper cooling for at least the nb..
If its voltage well just have to get another bios release.. -
you cannot void you warranty if you did not damage and you put the system exactly how you recieved it
i have it in black n white
-
my cpu has hit 70c ands my gpu's 90c and i didnt stutter
very werid -
How hot did your nb get with that cpu temp? 70C+?
-
ill call monday and see how much they are and if they sell them by themself or not for you

Got the tide water from a guy - i said i only wanted to test it for leaks before buying
.. but of course i wanted it to try if my idea would work.. so i brought over a cable i moded from molex to double usb (made from this, this and two of these .. thanks google for the guide
The rig did power up but the owner himself already told me that it was performing miserably compared to being plugged into the molex in his pc as i could already notice that myself. Even besides that i now have the feeling of how large exactly this brick is and i realised i could no longer move my laptop around with something like that to carry in the same compartment of a bag. I dont imagine a laptop carrying bag so big ever made. So i told the seller i cant use it..
Now im down to getting a replacement heatsink to cut it up.. if anyone can tell me where i can get this in europe please tell.. i already have a friend with a laser cutter and i already have a few ramsinks for the nb.. i just need the heatsink to cut it up the way it should be.
Praise to the genious that made his m17 watercooled but i just dont see myseld lugging that arround anymore.. even the compact tide water is too big now that i held it in hand. And as far as i know that is the smallest rig of its kind.

Ok i need someone to confirm this. i notice the stutters starts when i am between -/+ 5 degrees of when the fans (mainly cpu start to kick in.) can someone else also try. listen for your fans and see when the stutters starts and stop.
i wonder how the fan is connected to the mobo. or it isn't adjusted right(bios setting wise). i can't think of a way to test it out. i don't have a desktop to try it. otherwise i would plug it in into a desktop and see what happens.(the pins for the fans.) -
yes ive also noticed stuttering occurs before the fans increase rpm's
-
Damn, sounds like there is a power drop in the voltage when the fans kick in.
I wonder if a bios revision could fix this?
Too bad there isn't a way to ramp up the fans slowly. -
there is if they release a bios revision
then it is a voltage issue but the heat could be the sourceno heat no fans kicking on lol so blame the heat
-
or maybe the fans need to come on sooner...
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i am going to see when and which fans comes on at what temp. but i think the last gpu fan should come on at 80(i would like 75 but that fans is loud).
instead of 85. i think 85 is alittle late.
i don't want someone saying "oh this computer is crap" because it isn't. remember when one thing is acting up on a computer everything acts up. just like a car. we just have too see what it is. -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
can i get this from any electronic store?
-
Just follow THIS GUIDE (but use a 3 pin molex instead of a 4 pin or get a molex 4 pin to 3 pin cable with the rest).
Buy a 3 pin molex extender cable and a usb cable (the power usb cable is easyest to wire since it only has the two wires you need) and do it as in the guide.
Let us know if the fans really are to blame. -

ok tomorrow i will go to radioshack and or bestbuy and see if they have it. if not? then i would have to go on newegg. i also have some spare usb's i can cut up. i will try it tonight if i can't wait.(which i can't. lol.)

great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would someone believe me if my stuttering has decreased drastically?
i will do more research and post results so i know it is true. but it really seems like it is no more just ran 3dmark and got
15,828. just cpu @3.2ghz. no gpu OC'd
i didn't try the fan yet. but i will. i am seeing if what i am doing is helping. -
what did u do to make the stuttering decrease?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i am just going to try farcry2 and see if it is certain then post.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok halogod, i need you and everyone else with ram of 1333mhz to download memset (the newest one) and set it to 8-7-7-20 and tell my your results.
-
alright gonna try that right now
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
sorry for the double post but run 3dmark06 twice and you should see the difference.
i came up with this threoy because everyone that is stuttering is using 1333mhz. i need someone with both to try it (1066 1333)
if there is a difference then this notebook is fully compat with 1333. but i think ocz was going to fix it but never did.
i need more people to try it out. -
tried it out and still stuttered...in one test i was dropped to single gpu performance the entire test...and windowes stuttered like hell when 3dmark06 was fnished UNTIL the fans went to a lower rpm...then the windows stuttering stopped
and yeah i wonder if the 1333 ram is doing it -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that is what i am thinking cause everyone with 1066 is fine and restart and do it again and run 3dmark06 twice the first should stutter and the second should run like butter. i got my highest 3dmark score from this. don't forget to apply the settings from memset.
-
ok doing that now...will post when its done running twice
-
Here we go...
3dmark06
RUN 1: 13,552
Run 2: 15, 971
very very strange...its like it needs to warm up....or since the fans are already on from the first run it never voltage shocks the cpu/gpu in run 2 when they kick in like in run 1 -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
no no. if you were to do it stock ram settings. the cpu score will drop badly. and the gpu will just raise. after contuing runs. it is confusing. PM'd
-
dont PM i wanna see it happen right here
i have followed this thread the whole time -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lmao...................
-
because im a cow isn't it
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Halogod don't tell me you told him about him mooing all over the thread.
what ram are you using mr. moo?
also did you ever get 4gb of ram? -
no i haven't im useing stock .... i guess imma use this grad money to order some tommorw .....
only games that dont like 2 gigs is WOW and oblivion since they store alot with the enviroment i get lack of ram errors every 2 hours or so -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
mmmmmmmmmmm i see.
i remember on my hp when i went from 2gb to 4gb. i got a increase in every game i played. (between 5-25fps no lie). so let us know your experience. also make sure you get 1066. as you see it is shaky on 1333mhz -
not if you fix it here thats why i wanna seee
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
what is your cpu and ram. i am trying to gather info on these systems so i can see what is causing what. -
war is t9400 and 4 gigs 1066 ram if i rember correctly
-
Dondadah i am 99% sure its not the ram. I stuttered all the time before with my q9000 and my q9100 and vista and ive been using the stock 1066mhz ram (4gb) from the beginning. I just never bothered to buy 1333mhz since i dont see a point in doin it.. it downclocks anyway right? Im just waitin for 4gb sticks to get cheaper so i can stick 8gb in here
Try out the fans.. its a simple test..
Any updates on the heatsink yet ZFactor? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok i didn't see it in his sig thats why. and if i find the answer i will let everyone know.
halogod can you try more ram timings to see what is the best setting. i plan on buying 1066 on thursday since this is a difference in performance, -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
-
i also think it isnt the ram because 3dmark 06 doesnt stress the ram it stresses cpu and ram ....which act up
-
7-7-7-20
just downloaded memset to tell you lol
