Project Freeze(M17/Ocz Whitebook)

does everyone think it's fair. i will also be provding links to anyone who want them.

 

Dondadah temps here are getting hotter.. its 26C in the room now and the cpu is still getting colder at idle.. looks like the paste is still settling in
Seams like i really applied it perfectly this time.
And if anyone is writing flex please make a point to release a new bios.. i still think the voltages are screwed and that should be the priority.

im *hearing* that flex now is telling some they may or MAY NOT pursue the 4870's. this is in a email i got from someone i cant post any of the email since i was asked not to. so if your going to sell you may want to do it. i hate to say that but looks like flex is forgetting about all of us... and this is after months of promising over and over they were 100% doing the 4870's and that includes what ocz was told till the very end..

2new bios
3shuttering issue

I would love I could go to Flextronics and rant with them. I wouldn't leave without an answer. too bad they are in Taiwan (I guess).

Instigates more speculation that AW may end up dropping the M17 chassis and offer ATI CrossfireX on their new notebook.

 

yeah i'm putting my notebook up for sale. this is ridiculous. i love it with bios overclock and the light up keyboard etc. but from getting dropped from ocz with all the features they were going to promise us and now flex just giving up on the only matter that made me keep this notebook is now also gone.


my notebook is great best computer i ever had and i really don't want to sale it.

i will contunie project freeze and come up with ideas and still contribute as i did before. i just can't test anything with you. i am very sorry to do this but i don't beleive i should pay xxxx.xx for a notebook knowing that i was promised something from flex and then because of there disagreement everyone suffers.

the w90 it is. and i really don't want to do it but i have my reasons.

omg thats bull****.....im going back to desktop gaming these laptops are rediculous lol....my watch has more upgradeable components than these laptops....sorry for acting like a kid but man...i spent alot of time on this thing for no reason

So that's it for the Arima W840DI? No 4870 upgrade, no new chassis and no further support from Flextronics? That really blows.

 

i dont have a watch is was a joke lol...im just saying....the reason i bought this laptop was because i thought it would be futureproof with a nice quad and upgradeable gpus....

 

i cant say for sure as i said but the email is from a very reliable source i have. i will try to get more info tues. but this is just what i was told in a email. dont hold it as bible but if you dont want to chance it then you may take that into consideration. as i said ill get more info tues when i can call him directly, trust me im ticked off as well i own one and i have people that own them out there. and what was promised to me this whole time was 4870's

 

lol i was considering any way and if flex is having doubts on this then either they have a new model they are going to bank on or it just cant work.

Flex was riding on this laptop and trying to make ALOT of money after they spent alot to redesign it and if they gave up ...they are the ones loosing money

AW tech support guy checked with everyone there and...accidently maybe....said they have a product number for the 4870's for the M17 and he said he cant tell me directly but he goes " you will be happy with ur m17, dont worry" and hinted it to me while chuckling

i think this means its coming

 

they still have to get them from flex lol

they may be in the system but doesn't mean AW hasn't updated their system.( if they are not going to have it )

 

i don't have no one to talk to but i am mad at the fact that after all this months they say no.


zfactor, i know you said to not hold the bible up but it has been since december. and nothing them ocz drop oout.


and someone posted earlier that they were very close just temps. but we fixed that we just a few changes. so that means we can start a company and do better then them. i really don't want this thread to be giving up on or close but come on.

even if alienware says so it could be a lie. don't forget the amount of calls they are getting from this issue. so they can lie. see if you can get a part number. but i am still looking at the asus.

i just talked with him over aim. it may end up being a aw exclusive from what he just replied to me. he thinks they have some kind of contract with flex for them. doesnt mean others cant get them they would have to have someone with the aw order them since aw does not sell to you unless you provide the system id etc.. i know flex has them. they were testing them and i saw some pre release results. so i know they have them... but he said they may only be released to aw if this is the case..

so his email meant to not expect them aftermarket from vendors like ocz and asi etc.. he said sorry to not have made it clear. he knows they have 4870's but many people may not get their hands on them IF they get released (and yes he said if), but he said if alienware swears by them they must have some pre contract for them

moo sorry to say no way they will do that. you will get no where in trying for that i hate to say that but especially now that they are basically dell

well how would i get it from someone from alienware? if they see that you already ordered two. then i thionk that won't sell it to you. plus if it is limited there's no way i can get then. i would have to save for about a month.

Doesn't AW require you to send the machine in for GPU upgrades?

On the other hand you might get lucky and that policy has changed since Dell took over because Im pretty sure Dell just sent you the new cards for the XPS 1730 and let you swap them yourself.

well i put it up. if and i'll get the w90. and if the 4870's do come out and i can get a hold of them. if i sell the w90 for 1,900 and buy the whitebook from newegg the single 3870. i can use the extra to buy the cards and sale the gpu and get a cpu. and the hdd and ram i'm not to worried about. so i am covered. or if newegg will be out of stock then i can find other ways of getting it.

 

lol don, just wait...whats the rush anyways...its not like the m17 cant game. U will put urself through all that selling? i would wait till the end of june after the new notebook is out and settled

 

i'm worried about the valve of my notebook by then. i bought it with the thought of upgrading to the 4870. i want when i spend alot on something it's going to last. gaming i am at borderline another year to maxing out games where the new cards would provide better. plus dx11 is backward compat with dx10 cards so i am not worried about that.

 

yeah flex gave everyone a load including ocz.. i can say though that newegg prob will not have the whitebook by then if you are waiting...

everyone that has been keeping up on project freeze and the quad core thread may have seen me get very upset and that i am selling my notebook. within 24 hours i have gotten about 6 emails and about 15 pm's on why. and now it seems like project freeze is going to be a failure.

i was going to stop everything until i saw a new thread and new faces that had requested about the copper mod and i didn't think anyone cared if the quad core thread or project freeze suceeded or failed.

but now i'm cooled off and everything is good and i'm determined to finalize and gather all the information i can about the issues, fixes and i will send them to flex, alienware, ocz, and asi. i will also provide information about moddifing the notebook to make it run cool and long lasting.

i need the help of everyone to with or without this system to provide me with pictures, quotes, issues, fixes and everything in order to make this project to be a sucess.

depending on the responses, comments, help, etc if anyone is also intrested i will like to provide performance tips on ati's card and how to get the most out of them. with and without a quad core.

thanks for all your help and i will make sure i can finish this project.
