    hey guys,

i have the m9750 for a few months now. I had some problems with the laptop randomly freezing so i reinstalled him completely, but he still does. It's not while running a certain program or game, not temp related, not memory related...it just happens really randomly. Any suggestions because i'm getting frustrated?

    thanks

Hi, I have just installed Vista x64 on my m9750, and I cant get the FingerTouch Keys to work at all, nothing happens. I have installed the drivers from aw supportpage, but nothing happens. Even tried the configkeysprogram, and it seems to find all the keys, but the still dont work. Anyone got any ideas how to solve this?

i installed new touchpad drivers one time, and now i don't have the ability to double tap the touchpad to left-mouse click.

any help, suggestions, thoughts, concerns, prayers, outburts, flames... anything?

it's not really a big deal to me, but it is much nicer to have that ability.

I tried the 179.13 and it worked alright, but reverted back to 175.28. I got my highest score on Vista with 175.28, and the 179.13 lowered it by about 100 to 200 points.

    Can someone please help me?
I have the M9750 as well and I had Vista but didn't like it, so I installed XP.
I can't find any audio drivers that work. It's the stock audio that comes with it, I think it's 7.1 High Definition Audio. I downloaded the Realtek audio before and I had to plug in headphones, then Realtek Audio Manager would detect them and play sound through the headphones, then I would have to disconnect the headphones and plug them back in, let Realtek detect them and sound would finally come out of the laptop. I shut down my computer frequently, which made me have to do these steps all over again. It got annoying so I figured I would uninstall the drivers and try to find working ones where I didn't have to do that. I have installed the Realtek drivers again and now nothing works. Can someone please help?

    Hello m9750 users,

I'm a self-confessed lurker of these forums and I have to say the knowledge and self-help here is very impressive. From the dark days when I was stressing over how to enable SLI to driver information, this forum (and particularly this thread has helped me alot).

However I'm starting to wonder whether my m9750 is working all okay.
I ran 3DMark06 for the first time today and I got a score of 7000ish. Ran it again just now and got 4850. Whats up with that? I've read people having 9000 for their scores. What score should I be getting around? In particular, the 3rd test of 3DMark06 runs at 0 FPS lol.

    My set up is
    CPU - Intel 2.16GHz
    GPU - Nvidia 7950GTX SLI (drivers 179.13)
    Ram - 2GB
    OS - Vista SP1

I bought this laptop this time last year.

Is it worth getting XP instead?
Does the BIOS of this laptop need to be updated at all?
Will these 7950 GTX be able to run the latest games smoothly?
Are the 179.13 driver okay or should I be sticking with something older, like 174.74?
Or am I missing some trick for this Alienware m9750s?

Thanks if you can point me in the right direction

You should be getting around 7600 as your 3dmark06 score. By the way two of the 3dmark06 tests are CPU tests so they will run at 0fps. 4850 is way too low though. 7600 what I got on my M9750 prior to not having it for 3 months :(

@MeloJr23 : i remember there is a bios for XP, and one for Vista...
@Monochroma : try re install your GPUs drivers, because there is lot of problem with SLI. You have to enable it and restart, and don't forget some drivers series cause trouble : you should try another one instead of 179.13... And follow this help by stone825.

    Thanks for your help.

I'll reinstall the the drivers and see what happens. I actually used Stone's guide all the way back when I couldn't work out how to get SLI. I'm just wondering if theres other ways to increase the benchmark score, apart from the obvious ocing.

Stone825, read about your problem with Alienware's CS. Going to get your m9750 any time soon?

I wonder if someone could take over this thread because EightD hasn't posted since. 09-09-2008, 09:03 AM.

Wonder if something happened to him or he just forgot about notebookreview. Anyways this thread is good enough and has pretty much all the needed tools.

No I'm still here. I have been unbelievabily busy. I check in a few times a day. But since my Lappy has hit a sweet spot I don't install any new drivers, since I'm scared it will break something.

But like I said I'm here and update the front page anytime someone posts a new driver is available. So the driver versions should be, pretty much, up to date.

Plus, when I see that Walujam posted a message, I know there is a Audio Driver Update. :D

If you dont mind me asking, what is your "sweet-spot" setup? Especially for the video drivers as I keep having hiccups no matter what i try (even with the super-awesome SLI guide).

I'm using v174.16 It runs all the games and apps I use with no problem:

    COD 4
    COD - World at War
    Gears
    Assassin's Creed

    Visual Studio
    Eclipse IDE
    Photoshop CS3, CS4

The key is to be realistic. You can't compare the performance to a Desktop PC. You also need to make sure you compare your performance using the same specs as others. When someone says they are running Crysis at 30+ fps, there is a good chance that they are using at a res less than 1280x720 and at Medium setting. These systems will not run Crysis at Very high at a respectable Framerate.

    Thanks eightd!

I wasnt speaking directly to game performance, it was more of stability in general. My laptop does not like to boot up into Windows 50 percent of the time unless I first unplug the battery and clear the previous hardware state.

What seems to happen is that Windows boots just fine, but the display never pops up, even after hitting Fn+F3 to reset the default monitor port. So I try a bunch of things, but the behavior seems to be random on bootup. I can even hear sounds of windows booting up, just no screen. Go figure.

Anyway, I was just seeing if drivers could change this behavior. Thanks again!

WOW, sounds like you have a issue with starting up services and apps. Something maybe trying to load and locking up the system until it finishes. This happens a lot if you have something that uses removable media like, Flash Drives, USB Devices, and UPS Monitoring cables. I would start with MSCONFIG and start disabling stuff until it starts to boot correctly.

Thanks again eightd. I think you are right because I can dual boot into Vista without problems (and that is a system I havent installed things to yet). So when I get the chance I'll just do a new Windows install and start from scratch. It is just funny that the grafics driver is the main thing affected. Thanks again!

This is rather irrelevant but I want to hook up a second monitor to my m9750, but all the second monitor does is stay black. I've done all of the specific steps, which aren't very difficult. What would be preventing me from accomplishing this?

    I appreciate anyone's concern. :D
