Is SLI enabled? I couldn't get dual display to work with SLI enabled...I've also heard drivers with a modded .inf file don't support multiple displays from time to time...

i havent tried this one myself, honestly YET, but every chipset driver i get get me stabler SLI and decreases chances to BSODs

so the SLI provides better framerates, or is it that the games don't stutter as much when using SLI?

if it provides better stability, i might go ahead and try it out, though, i'm not really having problems thus far, and my notebook is just creeping up to a year old (about a week).

what impresses me is how beast this thing still is, and how much better it looks compared to so many other notebooks that are brand new.

    haha i know that!

i meant, the newer chipset drivers betters the SLI scalability and performance?

i have looked at your sig many times!

Sorry, i feel like a fool right now xD

yeah, the chipset gave me a couple of frames in most games , anyways most importantly, KEEP YOUR SOUND DRIVER UP TO DATE

honestly not joking... because ive tried some older realtek driver with Dead Space and i was dipping to the 40's alot, but the 2.10 driver, it never does this kind of hiccups

yeah, i thought sound drivers were a joke in terms of Framerate in games.. but they have the same effect as the GPU driver

Never underestimate the power of a good sound driver. These Realtek drivers are now so good I am getting better audio quality and framerates using the internal sound card than using my 100 dollar Creative Xi notebook card. Go figure :)

    EDIT:

after reinstalling the sound drivers, i have regained surround sound! woo!!!

    Hello guys,

Lots of info on this thread, very nice indeed.

Guys, I need some help from you. As this is a m9750 specific thread, here I am!

I have a m9750 with a combo driver, it has always worked well.. Burned dvds, cds, and all.
And all of a sudden, my drive stopped recording DVDs..

I know its crazy, but I don't know what could possibly have happened!

About two months ago, my laptop was with a different issue: it wouldn't shut down, and again wouldn't record any dvds. So I sent it to the factory for assistence (sorry for the spelling), and they replaced the drive among with other stuff.

And here I am, after having my drive replaced, with a combo drive that only READS DVDs!!!

I noticed it when i tried to record some dvds. then I noticed that no program recognizes the dvd drive.
I tested with nero, dvd shrink, convert x to DVD, and they only write ISO files or hard drive folders.

Going deeper I ran the nero infotool, that comes installed with the other nero stuff, and for my surprise, it says my combo drive is allowed to read cd, cd-r, cd-rw, dvd rom, dvd-r, dvd+r.. etc..
but when it comes to writing, the only "checks" I got is on cd-r and cd-rw!

So I found on the first page (of this thread) some drivers for the optiarc drive, and went on their homepage.. but guys, as I don't know alot of it, I don't know even what firmware to download.

Could you guys help me out?

And with the NEC Drive converter, it doesn't even recognize my drive (-scan)

Thanks for reading!! I hope you guys can help me =)

Yeah, you have to install the drivers twice! First it only deletes the old drivers. When you start again, it installs the new drivers. Weird thing...

Hey, I've been a lurker of this site, and this particular page for months now, but feel I should now ask for some advice!

I've been fine trying out the different graphics drivers, and using driver sweeper inbetween changing, should I uninstall, and use driver sweeper for say, audio drivers as well?

No, it's not necessary. As long as you use the RealTek drivers, it automatically uninstalls the old drivers.

    Greetings

Thanks very much! I've also noticed that weirdly, on the US AW site they have far more new drivers up, than on the UK site. I tried their latest and it does seem to be pretty good!

Thanks to this group I finally got GTA4 running. It took a mod .inf and driver from laptopvideos2go but only installing it on one video card. SLI or two cards both resulted in corrupted textures. Being new to power laptops has made this an educational journey.
Lurking here let me survive the experience.

Can any1 offer some help on the below issues im having a problem with?

I want to upgrade my bios but apparently I need to have access to "my hive" for that which I dont.

    1) Is there any1 that can download the latest xp/vista dual boot bios for me so that I can upgrade.

    2) The alien on the back of my lid does not light up in vista. Is there a program for this where you can adjust the lights etc.. like in m1710 XPS?

Ill really appreciate if any1 can offer some help on these 2 issues.

    Thanks

OK I got the top lid lights to work apparently by pressing FN+F10 :)

Only need the latest bios update that is for XP and Vista dual boot. Will someone be kind enough to post the download link so that I can download it from alienware as I do not have access to "my hive"

    Thanks

Hoshie: no that is the Finger-Touch Buttons. It is fine just a little annoying. To get rid of the error/warning, you'll have to install the XP BIOs. This will make the Finger-Touch Buttons work properly under XP.

Hoshie - there are indeed 2 different BIOS's for the m9750 - one for Vista and one for XP....both are available in your hive.

I had the same type of thing when I went from Vista to XP, flashing to the correct BIOS did fix it.

    Hi!
Thanx for the answers. Hey Hamish33. What do you mean with "both are available in your hive." ?
Can you give me a link?

PS:I sign in at Alienware, but cant find anything about an XP Bios..

Hi Hoshie...I'm not sure if I can link you to my "My Hive," but if you access yours, click on the invoice from when you bought your laptop, once it expands click on 'AREA 51 M9750 17"...' that should expand into a bunch of links, you will find the BIOS links as you scroll down a bit.

    Hope this helps. Cheers.
