Vista 32, card reader driver installed fine, I don't have any unknown device in the device manager, but putting a SD card in the card reader does a whole lot of... nothing. No new device detected, no mass storage drive popping up in My Computer.
The hardware is detected fine, according to devmgmt.

New notebook graphic drivers from nVidia:

GeForce Release 185 for Notebooks BETA
    Version: 185.81
    Release Date: April 30, 2009
    Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit
    Language: U.S English
    File Size: 109 MB

    XP: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_185.81_beta.html
    Vista: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_185.81_beta.html
    Windows 7: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_win7_185.81_beta.html

I've actually using this driver and all games work well with increased performance (higher framerate) and no problems (so far...).

@eightd: maybe you should replace the old drivers (v169.28, v174.16, v174.74) with these?

Hi guys, I need a little help regarding an error that keeps showing up in my Event Log in either Vista (any edition) and/or Windows 7 RC when putting my laptop in Sleep (Standby) mode. If anyone can please confirm whether these errors show up, I would certainly appreciate it... all you have to do is put your m9750 to sleep, and then power it back up again. Go to your Event Viewer, expand the Windows Logs folder and click on the "System Log."

Basically what is happening are a bunch of "ACPI" errors that show up when putting my m9750 to sleep and then back on again. It's more than an annoyance than anything, but I haven't had much luck with Alienware laptops, and this error may prove to be a symptom of a larger issue. Anyhow, I have worked with 3 other Vista laptops that don't have this error.

FYI, this issue is related to the BIOS, of which I have the latest one. Please let me know so that I can determine if this is just isolated to my laptop. Thanks and again, your help is greatly appreciated!

I also had ACPI errors when I put the computer into sleep mode. ( ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x4/0x5), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.)
Except that mine never booted back from Sleep mode, having to shut it down and start it up again each time. But that's a common problem with non-official (or official but beta) laptop video drivers.

Hey guys (eightD or Walujam), I've been Windows 7 x86 RC and I'm wondering since I skipped Vista I'm behind the curve or some things...but what's the difference between BIOS v.0F04 (XP) and v.0C03 (Vista)?

I think something with memory extensions...do I need this for my memory intensive games now that I'm not on XP x86 anymore? Which should I have, if I have 4GB of, (3GB available for x86 I know), but I've edited bdedit.exe to allow more memory per application so is that all I can do, or will the BIOS for Vista help in Windows 7?

I say go with the Vista Bios. The Win 7 Architecture is based on Vista, so I would think the Vista Bios features would transfer.

Right my gaming performance in XP completely destroys the performance when running Vista. That said im interested in trying out Windows 7.

Has anyone tried Windows 7 with the 8700 SLi setup? What's performance like?

    That's not DX9 DX10 related is it?

Everyone I know that's gamed with W7 says it's an improvement.

I decided not to update the BIOS, and ditched Win7 for a while...if I had gotten it, I would've just went to "My Hive" in Alienware. Do you need either BIOS "walujam"?

Also, Intel just released new Chipset Drivers: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?&DwnldID=10884

    Haven't tested...just informing...

I have been running 174.16 on Vista for 12 months without a single glitch and great performance (8700s in SLi) so I am reluctant to update, however intuition says nVidia's own updates - over 12 months newer than my current drivers - should rock.

Any thoughts on latest nVidia Drivers?

Are any of you m9750 owners getting this error in the Event Viewer: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x4). It appears right after coming out of sleep or hibernation.

I contacted Alienware, and they have no solution, I'm trying to figure out if this is just isolated to my laptop... it seems at least one owner (posted earlier in this thread) has it... I'm hoping on trying to get Alienware to fix this instead, but I'm not sure if all m9750's are having this error... any help would be great!

By the way, this happens on XP, Vista, & 7 - all with the appropriate BIOS flashed before installation of the respective OS.

Should I install "new" chipset drivers because I remember a certain time whenever I did and my computer just got all wonky. Half the time my mouse would stop working and/or give me a BSOD.

If you don't have any issue's right now you're better off keeping your current chipset drivers.

Some games also require signed drivers now. Ghostbusters, for example, will not work with any modded drivers.

    Hi guys,
Thanks so much for this thread :)
I've just upgraded to windows7 64 and got all of the drivers I needed, however I still need to update my bios I think. I've been to my hive and no luck there and unfortunately the rapidshare links are no longer working.
Is there anyone with a spare set out there?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

The Vista drivers in the Hive is what you're looking for. There isn't a Windows 7 specific BIOS.
