Great find again bro.
This vid shows it can really game.
We need more info on the spec options!![]()

$799 would be fantastic, $999 for a fully loaded one, awesome!

Is it under 5 lbs?

This website http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php shows how bad of a choice 1.3 ULV really is. In benchmakrs it scores only 1000points compared to lets say P8400 (2.26Mhz) (1500points) or even i3 2.13Mhz which gets over 2000 points. Well lets hope Alienware takes that into account cause it doesnt look good
-
Secondly, very few games will have a problem with the 1.3GHz C2D, mostly RTSs. The vast majority of games will run fine on it. I run my processor in 1.6GHz constantly to save power and heat as games just don't need more (Granted it's a quad core, but very few games use a quad anyway)
Dell has already revealed that it runs Crysis at 50fps (although it's still unclear on what settings) and have proved in videos that it can play Modern Warfare 2 at native screen res at 30fps. Looking at those, this is going to game just fine. -
Wanna see 3Dmark06 score for it as well, Im quite satisfied with my current 13.3 inch LG p310 with 9600m gt overclocked so it gets around 7300 points in 3dmark. I like better battery life in m11x as well as design but need to see some real benchmarks as well as gameplay be4 i make my decision.. ;P
-
3DMark06 fails as a benchmark now because graphics technology is so great that it's now heavily reliant on the CPU instead. So the M11x will score badly compared to other gaming notebooks.
What you need to look for is benchmarks of games themselves and not synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark. -
I am tempering my enthusiasm with a healthy dose of skepticism
Dell is claiming that a ULV CPU and mid range GPU are going to deliver performance similar to a stock Gateway P6831 FX did a year or two ago (1.66 C2D and 8800 GTS). So I have my doubts.
Its hard to get those sorts of scores from a 2.66 C2D and 9600m GT. -
The GT335M is a damn sight more powerful than a 9600M and even a 9700M. We don't know exactly how powerful it is yet though, because it's still not out yet lol.
However looking at its scores and statistics I'd place it on the same sort of level as a single ATi mobility 3870, or slightly slower.
Basically, very capable. It should definetely be able to run MW2 at that sort of speed looking on what I did running with crossfire off. And it could easily hit 50fps on Crysis set to low at native res, possibly even medium if it's good enough but that I doubt. Should still manage Crysis on medium fairly well.
They couldn't put better in a pre-production model than would actually be released, that would look very bad come its release. If anything we might get a better CPU. The GPU has been confirmed as a 335M, and that was definetely what was in the pre-production model, and that's the key part of the gaming scores so... -
Bumpin back up in case anyones found anymore videos or anything. Also thanks Darkhan for the info, I'm ready and waiting for Feb to come around already.

Anybody know if we are gonna get different color options? I would love to see one in that nice lunar shadow color they offer with the m15x and m17x.
-
I read somewhere Black and Smoky Grey. (I would go with the grey for sure)
-
*edit* maybe it was gray, not silver, either way something like that color -
For the sake of making life easier, I decided to put everything in one post.

sick effing post man lol, should put that in a new thread..
I think obviously known, but Alienware custom name tag also featured on this.
post permalink'd bookmarked =) -
^^^ + rep.
Excellent info easily findable in the single post, gj dude! -
I was thinking of making a new thread since this one isn't being updated, but I posted this here because it's where all the discussion is taking place. -
Excellent. +rep from me too.
You should get a mod to make this the first post and allow you to update it as new info comes up. -
Hello Guys... Im new in here..
I agree that alienware 11x will be powered with "Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300"
however, keep in mind that, alienware itself can OC this processor up to 2.1GHz...
perhaps it's similar technology with this laptop equipped with SU7300:

I vote for a new thread as well! Actually, probably should wait for a release date to be confirmed, then can create a Owners lounge.
-
If alienware in fact provides with overclock option the CPU should perform quite well
check out the comparison to P8400, now thats 1.7Mhz but if u can go up to 2.1Mhz than I'm buying it straight away cause my P310 with P8400 and 9600m gt O/C runs Modern Warfare 2 on native 1280x800 all high no shadows and AAx2 ;P

Another concern is the irremovable battery life. My Dell laptop battery died in 2 years, now it rests as a desktop replacement on my desk. Average battery life is around 1000 charges; 2-4 years. As a gaming laptop, I would assume it would be somewhat hot, and Li-Ion battery generally prologue it's life in cold conditions.

They are changing.. THANK GOD! -

My storm has a SIM card, but what will this mean for if I get an M11x?
I can pop it from the phone into the laptop and have 3G coverage without an additional data plan? (outside of a usb 3G modem I am ignorant here) -
IF ATT finds out wouldnt they charge for tethering?
-
I still feel like the M11x might have an i3. They just added i3 as the base processor of the M15x. Is it possible that they claimed it was a C2D to throw off the competition? I cant see them having 2 different chipset options for this.
-
Its hard to say, alienware used to be pretty slow about updating their laptops. I remember when the first m15x came out, sager/clevo had already updated to the montevina platform, alienware's new laptop shipped with santa rosa and the laptops where only released a month or two apart.
-
Hmm. I think that they may have a 2nd revision later with a i3 and or i5...
-
Yeah about the irreplaceable battery, I really hope its like the new macbook pros, you just remove a few screws for the cover and the battery inside is just like it used to be. I'm also interested in how they are placing the RAM. Since I'm not sure if it would be possible to get the lowest ram configuration and then upgrade it myself since that way is always cheaper.
Lets hope they don't solder anything in there.....that would suck. -
-
I don't think anything is going to be soldred in.
I hope.
I want to add more RAM and SSD after purchasing it, and maybe upgrade the CPU if that is even possible. -
What I really hope is that they will provide at least 2 sodimm sockets for the ram, unlike the eeepc which has only 1 -

the ULV i7 processors are 18W but the chipset is much lower than the one used with the Core 2 ULV part, so the overall wattage would still be lower if the Core i7 ULV is used (6xxum are the low power i7 - only - parts)
