Found the video where this guy uses medium settings:

I think its German.

Bad Company 2 Plays pretty well actually. If I had a keyboard and mouse for my Ps3 it would be a no brainer as it would play more stable. However, I started to play with the video card a little and with a little overclocking it actually boosted the performance quiet a bit. I just throttle it back to stock after playing BC2. I found that I can run it a pretty much medium the whole way with little slow down ( other then when you are getting assaulted by multi vehicles at once then it drops a little lower then 20 fps but it is still playable).
I am relatively new to overclocking tho....anyone have some "simple" advice so that I won't combust my PC. Keep in mind I didn't increase the core that much. Just don't want to blow the thing up in the first month of ownage. -
For benchmarking I've seen the core up to 600MHz. Don't be afraid to do it, just keep an eye on temps. Chances are that your display driver will fail before your temps get to high. But play around with it and you should find a high stable setting.
-
What temps are ok? I've heard you want it to below 80?
Again I am a newb. -
Yea, try and keep it below 80* C. It won't cause damage at that temp, but if it's getting that high, there may be something wrong, ie, fans not working, poor veltilation, ect.
-
guys don't bother overclocking for BFBC2.. I did some test runs. CPU bottleneck.
-
Thanks for the runs aznguyen316.

Anyone gonna get Metro 2033 to play on this laptop?
I'm curious how it runs. -
I'll most likely be getting metro 2033 so yeah I'll let ya know how it runs. I think it releases next week?
-
Initiallly when I did it I thought I saw an increase but alas, I was wrong.
Still runs fairly decent however. -
Ok I take back what I said about BC2 being unplayable......to my standards.
Turned off DX9 and put it into auto......same desert map 32/32 all low 720p.......min was 16 fps compared to 8 fps for DX9.
Still not how I would like to play, but 16 fps with mortar, smoke and crap going around you......is pretty damn good.
I did notice when I turned on DX9 that it would constantly pause and stutter causing frames to dip and stay in the 8's. When I turned it back on auto not only did it look better, but was playable. -
armoured - hey thanks for the note about leaving it at auto. My mins for dx10 is very good, doesn't not drop into teens on my benchmark runs. i'm gonna leave it at that =)
-
So it's rubbish on DX9? Wheeee.... Developers screwing over DX9... Windows XP shalt finally die.
-
I wouldn't say rubbish but it does look cleaner in dx10 and plays a tad smoother imo. Dx9 ran fine though, but it's better to leave it auto.
-
Whoopsie. Lol. Alrightey. Now to find money... So the multiplayer is playable? Is it funner than MW2 in your opinion?
-
-
The brain is a wonderous organ, isn't it? LOL. Want to get l4d2... Sigh.
-
-
So a seasoned CoD player would find BF:BC2 a living hell? Alright, BC2 here I come!
-
I was just checking out the Metro 2033 page on steam and what the heck? 8gb of ram in the "optimum" specs? What the heck does it do that it needs 8gb lol.
-
Tried this for a few min on a jungle level and noticed a steady 24-30 fps without dippage. The true test would be trying it out in the desert maps.
1. open bfbc2.
2. wait til you get to the play now/login screen then alt+tab to desktop.
3. open task manager (ctrl+alt+del), click the processes tab.
4. right click the bfbc2, click set priority and set to high.
5. right click the bfbc2, click set affinity.
6. DISABLE CPU 1, click OK. Now re-enable the same CPU you disabled.
Also numerous reports have shown that BC2 only uses 40-50% of GPU in multiplayer. -
so your 24-30 fps without dippage.. is that better than what you were experiencing before? Just wondering since I need some comparison numbers. What settings also?
-
I am curious as well......also, what settings did you have?(@armoured)
-
Same as I normally have. 720p all low. No bloom nothing, DX=auto. Cpu+Gpu OC. Physx off.
-
I posted this in the Bench mark thread for the benchmark purposes, but also wanted to post this here for the gaming aspect
Here is World in Conflict runs with the World In Conflict Benchmarking tool. I ran them at Very Low, Medium and Very High settings. Both at stock clocks, and then a heavy GPU overclock. The first pic is the settings. I adjusted the settings with the basic settings option. All were run at 1280x720 resolution. As you can see from studing the graph, the overclocks do not help much in this benchmark tool. The Key is to keep your laptop as cool as possible. If you study closely, you'll see that the overclocks help in some areas, while hinder in others. All runs were done with the CPU @ 1.733GHz.
Very Low Settings,Stock GPU Clocks
AVG: 78 FPS
Very Low settings, Overclocked GPU/CPU
AVG: 83 FPS
Medium Settings,Stock GPU Clocks
AVG: 32 FPS
Medium Settings, Overclocked GPU/CPU
AVG: 32 FPS
Very High settings, Stock GPU Clocks
AVG: 15 FPS
Very High settings, Overclocked GPU/CPU
AVG: 18 FPS

One of the 1st games I'm gonna play when I get my AW...
Incidentally how did you get it to work on steam in the end? Slightly concerned that it wouldn't load up... -
-
UAC is User Access Control. Its a Win7/WinVista feature that controls the way programs and stuff change things on your pc. Some programs might need higher level access to run and do their thing, so you need to allow them to get that access via UAC.
-
-
Glad to have helped. Are you getting one of these babies? I might wanna try R.U.S.E. Anyone opted for the beta?
-
I'm basically undecided between the M11x and the M17x R2...
I'm waiting for the 5870s on the M17x to see how they fare... basically I want to play the games that I cannot on a PS3, things like Empire total War, Mass Effect 1&2 X-3 Terran Conflict, and some of the amazing RTS games such as World in Conflict etc
For me its all about lush graphics and screen real estate rather than pure benchmarks, ie I think the only reason I'd go for the M11x is simply because of price and portability...oh and the fact that on the UK site you can't get an SSD option ( or anything other than RAID 1) for the M17x and I refuse to buy a laptop without an SSD in 2010...
And maybe, because it'll be my 1st AW, it can be my entry level device before the awesome power of the M17x... -
Baerius, I did the same thing. Went to the M11X for the portability, and gaming power. I'm not looking to run everything at max settings or real intensive tasks when I'm traveling. That's why I went for the M11X. I love the M17X R1, but as soon as I got it, the R2 came out so I sent it back for a refund. I'll pick up an M17X R2 when the 5870's come out. I love big powerful things. But for on the go, you can't beat the M11X
Does anyone here play "Need For Speed Shift?" I'm playing it in my office now and this game looks great. I love watching the intro every time. Engines/Exhaust systems sound amazing. I need to get a USB remote though, because I may end up with carpal tunnel on this little keyboard -

I'm interested to see anyones settings for WoW whilst raiding 25man content. Whilst questing or doing 5 man instances ultra settings (with shadows off) seems to work like a charm but when going into a 25man i see a serious drop. ATM i have my settings on fair (shadows off) and 1x multiplier.
I'm not sure if i need to go to lowest settings or not, its hard to test in a 25man when you're supposed to be healing! So any screenshot or details of what settings you use and what your average FPS in 25mans would be appreciated.
Thanks -
@beerface = Try switching to an SSD, that reportedly works wonders for WoW loading times.
-
can anyone help me confirm that bad company 2 never uses 100% of the gpu on the m11x? i usually see it at about 40-50% use
-
guys can anyone confirm for me that bad company 2 only uses about 30-50% of the gpu?
-
Confirmed in my m11x viva EVGAprecision. Using 30% maxed gpu.
My desktop with a gtx260 uses 90% gpu.
Dice seriously need to release a new optimization patch.....soon. -
Does Dice even know?
-
i knew that the performace i was getting wasent correct at all. Soon as i seen evga i knew why. Looks like they have some optimizations to do and we could get some good results from these m11x's. This computers ability is amazing. Even now i have bad company playable at medium online. Lets hope they fix this

Anyone try Just Cause 2 demo? I had most of the settings cranked up to high and the game ran better than my desktop ha ha.
-
I'm downloading it right now. I'm kinda tempted to get that game since I have a $10 credit for Amazon that I have to use before June, and I got no other games to use it on. Between this, Mass effect, and that valve action pack, I think I'm set on PC games for the year.
-
Valve action pack? Never heard that one before.
@nsxrrmaniac = Holy cow, JC2 on all high? Thats sweeet!! Have you tried ruse? -
-
Have you gotten l4d2? Cause I have to rebuy that now....
EDIT: gut says there will be discounts when steam is released for the mac. If you can wait and find another 2 people and if L4D2 is the only game you want... Care to share a 4pack? -
Why do you have to re-buy?
-
My copy was a region locked one. Its locked to South East Asia. Am in NZ now which disables the game... Sigh.
So resigned to getting another copy
-
I'd wouldn't mind doing a group buy, but LFD2 wan't the only game in the pack that I wanted. And couldn't you register the game on Steam to remove the restriction?
