    I should've guessed. Nvm then, I'll just wait for the Macboys to get steam and see if steam gives me any discounts then. Nah, its registered to steam and its locked because its registered. It only runs if I'm in south east asia. Kinda like DVD region locks except this one isn't hackable.

    EDIT: My ticket on steam support was lodged on sunday the 7th and until now there has been no reply from steam support. :(

    I think the problem with the Vaio Z series is that the screen is much higher resolution... Z117 - 1920x1080... Z115 - 1600x900... So when the Taiwanese test site do the brenchmarking, they did it with native resolution, so that is why there seem to be such a performance difference... But I think if you turn down the resolution on the Vaio Z series, it will most likely beat the m11x, but probably not by much. But does that worth the extra cost? This is the hard decision to make!

    The SF4 benchmark was done on 1280X768. Hardly compelling proof that at the m11x's reso it would completely outpace it.

    @virtuehero= BTW you can't direct link those photos, it gives us a 403 Forbidden when we try to open it.

    Particularly the FPS in the wasteland with Ultra settings at native resolution.

    I'd do it if I had a copy on hand. I'm not about to buy it with that New Vegas expansion coming out so soon. I'll see if one of my friends has a copy that I can borrow.

    ha, was impressed... just hooked up to my TV, and thought just for grins I'd try Bad Company 2 at 1920x1080, it runs just about the exact same ha... only difference is a heck of a lot more resolution, and the GPU runs at ~75% load instead of ~40%... impressive little GPU in this thing...

    Now if only we could get a bit more OC out of the CPU!

    Great machine, still loving the M11x and amazed at the performance for the price and size.

    the game is fun in general. Are you debating on it between PC vs a console or something? I chose it on PC and love it although I feel the connection issues on PC kind of blow vs console.

    I have it for 360, but obviously I'm not gonna haul my 360 around with a tv lol. So I've been debating on getting it for pc. The game is fun in general, but I was wondering how the experience was on the pc. I may just end up picking up a copy of it for the pc in a few days.

    So I just did a quick run through with fallout 3. I used a nocd crack and it changed my launcher to russian. I set it to 1366x768. 2x AA, hdr effects, i can't read the other stuff so i didn't bother changing any of it. It basically ran 40-60 fps in the vault and once i got out side it stayed around 35-50 fps. I ran into the first town and started shooting at people and it stayed around 45 fps. I guess I'm gonna keep the game on my computer and play it once I finish DA:O and such.

    ^@nuke yeah in this case steam is not necessary. The game autopatches through the game launcher, you can activate the game and not need a disc in try ever. I don't know about if the keys are region free or not for aussies but yeah, I love steam but in this case not much benefits.

    @Green Fairy,

    Yea, it turns out that way. The game is all in english, but the dang nocd i picked up was multi2 or something like that so I figured it'd be in english :(

    Fallout 3 is definitely playable at native res though. I'd change more of the options, but i can't read any of the friggin options lol.

    @Azn,
    Good lookin out. Pickin up a key off ebay.

    @azn = Region locks are more for games in Asia and the sort which are sold at a lower pricepoint. Aussies and Kiwis on the other hand get shafted in another manner with insane prices. Pros and cons. :D Where did you get yours?

    AU and NZ prices are insane. Almost like the EU prices. Strangely enough, Steam in Asia uses the USD price... I'll stay away from retail from now on. Sigh. So much fine print.

    EDIT: Your link doesn't work for some reason. It says " This product does not exist at DirectGameKeys - CDKey eShop "

    EDIT again: THEY HAD L4D2 for cheap! Wooohooo... I owe you one mate. :D +rep

    Another Mass Effect 2 Question: It runs well once it loads, but save game load times are ridiculous. I have a very old Alienware desktop that will load a game in about 5 seconds. The m11x takes 45 seconds to a minute. I know it's a ULV processor and all, but the m11x has a higher Windows experience rating and a SSD! I thought the SSD would make loading a snap... startup, office, and photoshop all launch super quick.

    Has anyone else experienced this? Could there be a problem?

    I have the SU7300 overclocked in the bios, 8GB ram, and the 256MB SSD.

    I think you have too much ram. 8 GB confuses the game, basically triggering a 'wow, so much space here, I can swim and swim and it takes forever to reach the other side, this is paradise'. It's just a theory. ;)

    @Blaaargh - I think you may have gone a bit overboard with the RAM... You may not need any more than 4GB given the CPU bottleneck of the M11X. 4GB is more than enough since Windows 7 only needs like 2GB (minimum requirement for x64) to work and then you have the additional for games etc. Just a thought...

    @Aggmang,

    It might run it poorly. The game specs are ridiculous and I read on gamefaqs somewhere that it doesn't do too well on pc's. Probably a console rental game.

    Oh man...I just tried to load BC2 on the intel gpu and I thought my computer was broken cause it took so long. Make sure you're in discrete gpu mode lol. /facepalm

    I'm not so sure Metro 2033 is gonna run terrible... looking at the minimum specs, I think low-medium should run pretty well. GPU wise we are good, and it does say ANY Core 2 Duo and 1GB Ram...

    Defintely won't be smoking out HIGH at high res, but I'll be suprised if it doesn't run just fine at 1366x768.

    I pre-purchased, excited to play it.

    I downloaded and play BC2 with no changes to the settings and it looks and runs great. I haven't done any FPS checking or anything like that so this is strictly based on my experiences. I honestly haven't even checked the settings to see what they're at but I can check later and let you know.

    leave it at auto, DX 10 actually runs well, and after trying both for a while, Auto works better, seems to be a bit less peaks and valleys in framerates.

    Anyone Play Need For Speed? What settings do you use? Running everything on high I get 25-30 FPS which is not all that great. I think it's a CPU bottleneck issue. I get the same FPS when running ont a 1600x1200 external monitor that I do on the M11x. Just curious if others found the same thing.
