How you liking it? Going to be my new addiction for awhile it seems, just waiting on my R2 now. Glad to hear it runs well..I'm getting an i5 and 8GB, but it should hopefully run as good. What drivers are you using if I may ask? :)

I agree. Bulletstorm is the kind of game they'll be unloading for 4.99 on some massive Steam sale if you just wait long enough. Definitely not worth 60 bucks (or however much they're asking for it)

I enjoy it a lot! I know people are complaining about it being similar to WoW, but the developers admitted some of that is on purpose...it makes the transition simple.

Lots of skills/actions to involve in - a much more interactive MMO than typical. Fun looking world too...it'll keep me busy for a long time.

Picked up Black Ops for £4.99 at my local supermarket (PC game clearance) and just wow; this the probably the most poorly coded, badly optimised POS I've ever played. Constant mouse lag and unplayable EVEN on the lowest settings, I thought all of this was patched out? Pfft, glad I spend almost nothing on it.. guess I'll just have to play it on my desktop PC.

    In case anyone is curious...

Tested Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath, and Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight on my M11x R2 (unoverclocked, no TS)

Framerates were about 20-30 ... only dipping to 20 during intense action with over 100 units onscreen moving/attacking/etc. At no point did the game become unplayable though.

Multiplayer was another story. Framerate is about 20-30 (this game caps the framerate at 30) but network latency can make the game feel kinda slow at times. Just to confirm this, offline play is definitely smoother at times.

Command & Conquer 4 (my least favorite of the series) ran decently at medium settings. High and above resulted in me getting disconnected from network games with error messages stating my FPS was too low. It should also be noted that in this game, even on medium settings, the shadows look utterly horrible. They are blocky and pixelated, and it was such an eye-sore that I actually turned them off and the game all that much better for it.

RIFT also plays great on my r1. medium settings with spell detail turned all the way up. get about 20-25 fps, and 10ish when there's a major rift with 40+ players on screen which is perfectly fine for an MMO in my opinion. Rift has 1 million pre orders before the game even goes live. and there is a lot of positive vibes about the game. Trion is staying on top of things and hopefully RIFT will make it as a great MMO.

Going back on what I posted earlier in this thread. I am now OC'd on my R1, and League of Legends I see about 60+ FPS when out of combat, and about 40 when fighting. So about a 10 FPS increase all around after OCing, with minimal heat increase, I hardly notice a difference!

I'm sure that will go up more when I upgrade my RAM.

I got the Ubisoft Hit pack from Steam, and well, is a lot of GB to download, so far I have only Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and works great, all settings to max, at native resolution, runs 40-55 fps, looks and plays great, fun game, and with no OC...

I´m uploading a video right now, the video was at balanced settings to be able to record with fraps:

YouTube - Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood on the Alienware m11x

But to tell you the truth, I think the game runs better at max settings, because it uses more post process power....

I also picked up the Ubisoft pack... for 12 bucks how could I say no?

My games are currently still downloading, but from what I've seen Far Cry 2 should run fairly well on the M11x R2. Same with Assassin's Creed.

As far as the other games, I'm not sure.

Make sure you've whitelisted Rift to use the 335M graphics card and not the Intergrated Intel HD one.

Ditto. Sweet deal. Hoping my R1 can handle these.

Does Far Cry 2 or Rainbow 6 have much of an online following anymore? I hate being the new guy who gets his butt kicked cause he just got the game others have been playing for 2 years. But I hate it worse when no servers or players are around anymore.

so after doing quite a bit of experimenting, Far Cry 2 does run decently well on the Alienware M11x R2

It does require some tweaking though. In my case, I turned shadows to "low" ... for whatever reason, even high shadows look blocky and very ugly with the M11x R2, so the game actually looks better with low shadows.

I ran the "action scene" benchmark test to kinda show you guys how the M11x R2 handled it. It hugged the 30 FPS mark fairly well, only dipping as low as 24ish during crazy intense scenes.

My conclusion is that you may have to switch to "Medium" settings across the board to get it to stay above 30 FPS during intense sequences. Indoors, and just walking around with no enemies results in very steady 50-60 FPS.

Far Cry 2 is also a jagged mess, even at the native resolution. I may try and tweak my settings around having at *least* 2x AA enabled, because this game really needs it.

When I get low fps or lower than usual in a game, the first thing I go to check or lower is the shadows....

Even in Call of Juarez BiB, works great with shadows at max, but if you put them in normal, you get more fps, and the shadows still look the same

Assasins Creed works very good, but for some reason there is a lot of lag or loading times in the menus, even the Ubisoft logo at the start lags like when you get very low frames, or if I exit the game, it took like 1 minute in the quit screen, just to get the animation of quiting the game...

At least the game runs awesome....

Found the problem and solution, since I was getting freezing issues even when fighting in the game, and I found that if I play offline, the issues are gone, and true, I just played like 1 hour of Assassins Creed without any problem...

Would love to know what happens as I recently bought it too, but its far from smooth on the high, let alone highest settings. I read on this forum somewhere that Empire Total War worked on highest smoothly, so it's kynna strange.

EDIT: I've added it to the Nvidia whitelist.

DX9 at Medium settings, AA up to 4X I think and High Res Texture Pack installed it runs extremely smooth. Even at a 1900x1050 resolution I use on my TV at home.

Im also getting the Error message,

    D3DRHI->GetFactory()->CreateSwapChain(DXGIDevice,&SwapChainDesc,SwapChain.GetInitReference()) failed
    at C:\HF_PC_STABLE\DEVELOPMENT\SRC\D3D11DRV\SRC\D3D11VIEWPORT.CPP:355
    with error DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL

Anybody know how to fix this? i downloaded from steam obviously, installed fine, went to launch and it gave me this message, i verified my games cache, defraged it, restarted, updated drivers. but it still wont work. I really also don't want to have to download it again.

Hey, I know this is way late... and there are a million people that have done this game on the M11x before, but just wanted to post some screenshots of my Resident Evil 5 benchmarks.

All settings are on HIGH, motion blur, and in DirectX 10 mode. First one is with NO antialiasing, and the second one is with 4X Antialiasing. Without AA, the game was smooth as glass through the entire benchmark. On the second test with 4X AA, the game never stuttered or became unplayable, but during several of the intense scenes the framerate dipped to the low 20's

Granted this is un-overclocked, stock 1.2 ghz core I7 ... so I have no doubt that overclocking and throttlestop would make this game fly with 4X AA. Even with stock, it's very playable.

    Benchmark 1: (No AA)

    Benchmark 2: (4X AA)

yes in the homefront and you thread. basically the game had DX10 on by default and that option caused the glitch. so that was disabled and so now it is playable.

Don't drop a lot on Dragon Age... EA games tend to drop in price fairly rapidply.

Definitely go for Left 4 Dead 1 & 2... they play amazingly on the M11x

I'm a PS3 gamer moving more into PC territory, and I love my M11x. I've bought Fallout 3 and New Vegas, The Witcher: EE, and Two Worlds. Very impressed with the performance so far. I'm looking at getting Risen and Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga. Can anyone tell me what kind of performance to expect for these two games?

There is a demo of Risen on Steam. I found it perfectly playable at a mixture of high/medium settings @ native resolution. Looked pretty good from what I remember but I found the game itself a bit dull.

crysis 2 is a fun game and does run better than crysis 1, though even at 720p i got fps drops to the 19fps range so i bumped it down to 1024x576 and it still looks awesome and i get an FPS boost.

though for me the max res for every game i put on my m11x is 720p.

Unfortunately any demos are out for me. I live in the country and I have Hughesnet, with a 200mb daily cap. Steam is pretty useless, even though I really like the idea of it. Except for it keeping me from playing my games when internet connection isn't present. It won't let me start New Vegas in offline mode no matter what. I bought disc version of New Vegas but had to register it with Steam. The whole reason I bought the M11x is because we go camping a lot and the PS3 is a pain to drag along. I'm trying to stay away from games that are required to register on Steam since the New Vegas issue. Thank you.

You have to log into steam at least once with your game before that game is allowed to play in offline mode. It's as simple as starting the game while online, exiting, turning on offline mode, and playing offline from then on.
