I have a request to make to anyone out there with an M11x R3... How does your machine cope with a videogame called Arma2? (Armed Assault 2)
The r1 and r2 couldn't hack it at all (single fps from what I've seen)
Does the r3 fare any better, given the more streamlined CPU and GPU?
-
i don't think it would fair any better!
EDIT: gave dirt 3 a try and it ran smoothly @ 720p between 40-60fps with aa off. -
does using 1366x768 makes any differents ??
this is fantastic.... consider I have an FPS problem during high speed when playing NFS hot pursuit.....
thanks for the input.... -
i'll record the level i played...it was a rally i think.
EDIT: got a copy of F1 2010 so will test that at 720p also.
EDIT 2: Here's the video I promised for Dirt 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqBRk50eb-o
all settings are in the video. let me know how my driving is cos i generally suck. -
the m11x didn't fair so well with F1 2010 as i was still getting < 30fps @ 1024x576.
-
With racing games like Dirt, if you don´t use cockpit view, disable those settings, to low or off, I don´t like that view, and in Dirt 2 I have it in off or lows, and I get better frames, because if you don´t use that view, and you have it on or mediums or highs, the system need to render the cockpit and driver, even when you don´t see it never.....
-
-
but how's my driving?
EDIT: I am quite happy with Dirt 3 as it doesn't go below 30-35fps and stays within the 40-50fps range but it does go higher @ 720p. -
With all other settings the same, just a resolution change I got the following:
1280x720 - Avg: 50.129833 - Min: 37.283875
1366x768 - Avg: 43.063023 - Min: 30.537989
so there's a 7fps difference in both average and minimum FPS but playing @ 1366x768 the game still did not go below my personal minimum of 30fps and I did not notice any obvious difference which is good. though i would still play @ 1280x720p to give me some "buffer" in fps.
the following video is the same track, but a different car and running @ 1366x768 and compare that to my original video which ran at 720p and see if you notice anything.
YouTube - DIRT 3 on stock M11x R2 (core i7) running @ 1366x768‏
(the new video is just an excuse for me to add the NBR logo as a reference point to here as well as some text). -
-
Here's a video of Operation Flashpoint: Red River running on my M11x R2.

you'll be pushing the FPS a bit if running at 720p but 576p still looks good.
EDIT: I can tell from the over the top marine dude and how the controls are that this isn't the great game codemasters has made. -
this machine sure beyond my expectation doesn't it..?? it seems you use Fraps for recording this video (from the benchmark point at the top right of your screen), does using it for recording a video significantly decrease your FPS ?? It happens a lot in my machine and made horrible video as a result.....
and about your driving, my advice is use the gamepad controller next time.. -
-
Medal Of Honor Airborne runs like junk. It gets microstutter. UT3 Engine=Lag on M11XR1.
-
What's Supreme Commander like on the R1? I hear it's CPU intensive, but its amazingly cheap on Steam today.

And I even did a video, of course fraps almost cut down the frames at half (around 18-20fps) but still is good to see how the game looks at those settings:

but on the bright side i suck at driving F1 cars. -
Some people play with default settings, or a global medium settings, or high settings, when maybe a game runs great with all high settings, but with shadows in medium, or with AA or without it, v-synch, etc.
The m11x is a great machine, but is not to get a game, put all settings to medium or high, and play...
When I see some performance problems in ANY game, I go to lower the shadow settings, always, that´s the first thing I do, some people first put a lower resolution, or lower textures, etc. -
well, share your F1 2010 settings and i'll give them a try.
-
does anyone think that dead island would run on an R2 when it's out in september (i'll be in Portland by then)?
-
-
well, the only way to know is to play the game and that has to wait till september!
-
? You never notice them and they give you a hella'ofa' FPS increase. NEVERtrust minimum requirements, and we don't know what FPS is guaranteed with the minimum specs at which settings in-game. I don't think the game will run well on the M11XR1/R2/R3.

pity there's no other games that use the chrome 5 engine so we can't see something similar running on the m11x.
-
EDIT: it runs better but i still suck at the game! -
Has anybody here ran Mass Effect 1 on their R1? If so what settings did you use for a solid frame rate? This game doesn't seem very well optimised.
-
I think my settings were at max resolution, high graphics with no AA/AF. -
Thanks for that, yeah I have optimised my CPU usage down to 1% on idle and am running OC'd. I'll give it a try now, cheers!
-
That really did it! Ran everything maxed at 1080p (external monitor) without AA/AF and it runs beautifully. Thanks again.
-
when i tried running mass effect 1 on my R2 all the textures were really low res even though i set them to ultra....what the heck?!?!?
EDIT: I hate how many retail games still require the disc to play! GRRRR..... -
That's weird? Take a screenshot. Also get Mass Effect 1 off Steam, just wait for it to go on sale. It went on sale last week for about 5 bucks.
-
EDIT: Because I have a retail version of Dirt 3 and F1 2010. now, F1 2010 can play fine with a mini-image mounted into a virtual drive but Dirt 3 still detects the virtual drive and so needs a no-cd version of the exe to play. -
Hey Guys,
I see a lot of you are using ThrottleStop to boost your M11x R2's performance! I have it installed, but don't think I have this thing set up properly. I don't see any difference really in terms of FPS boost whether I have it switched on or not.
Can you suggest settings that i should try?
Cheers.. -
This thread has convinced me to get an r3, thanks guys!
-
For those with F1 2010, I did a test with a change of Audio options, from Rapture3D (default) to software and this is before the change:

And this is after the change:

Is not that big, but the sound is IMO the same.... -
will check my install if that's enabled.
-
i find that if you play dirt 3 don't force it to DX9 otherwise it'll chuck down the fps even more.
-
anyway, I try to run the benchmark again for the same graphic setting after play it for 2 hours. it drops into average speed 33 and lowest 27.
temperature ?? -
-
in F1 2010 it didn't have as much of a noticeable affect on the fps. -
is it just me or does the m11x just gets raped by open world games?
-
How open are you talking? I'm playing Brotherhood perfectly fine on mine at the moment, and Just Cause 2 runs nicely too.
-
Maybe not all at ultra settings, but is not getting raped.... -
the FPS of ACB on the R2 is terrible for me same for dead rising 2!
-
That sucks. My R3 runs it at just over 30 fps average, occasionally dipping a little lower, all on medium settings.
-
so i think i just won't bother with those games for the m11x....will see how dead island and deus ex human revolution go instead!
-
Even at low settings does not run? Or maxed out you get bad frames? Is a very randow word to say just that X game does not get good frames...
Also, what are good frames? 30? 60? -
Weird. I play ACB just fine - medium settings and 1080p. I get about 30-40fps. When I play on my laptop I get about 5-10fps more.
