 I quote the effective clock of the GPU memory rather than what MSI afterburner shows. My memory is clocked at 880Mhz or 1760MT/s effective depending on how you look at it.

The memory should be overclocked on the 335m to get the best overall performance as it is somewhat lacking in the memory bandwidth stakes ( stock bandwidth is 25.4GB/s whereas my overclock achieves 28.1GB/s).

A memory overclock may not help on GPU's which already have massive amounts of memory bandwidth available (like my HD6970 - 176GB/s) but in this case it does.

Obviously this is very much game dependant but I have found benefits in most of the games I have played.

If the 335m had GDDR5 memory (effectively doubling the memory bandwidth) we wouldn't be having this conversation as it would be massively limited by its back end (ROPS etc) and not a lack of memory bandwidth.

Yeah it runs decent, some slowdown during races/chases but that's a game engine thing. Never below 30fps.

Any R2/R3 owners play Black Prophecy? Curious what your settings are and the sort of frames you're getting. Almost unplayable for me at the default medium to high settings.

Expect very low settings, they recommend a gtx460 for high settings o.o and a 3 core. So...yeah maybe medium settings at low resolution

Since Battlefield 3 is about to be released tomorrow I was wondering if anyone played the beta? Was curious how it ran on an M11x R1?

    I do...

Currently am able to play RIFT maxed out,
I frequently play games such as Borderlands, TF2, LoL, Minecraft, Starcraft 2, Half Life 2, Black Ops, Portal, Just Cause 2, Homefront.

Never had an issue with any game I have played on it, and I will be purchasing Skyrim for the PC > PS3 even with my 11 inch screen :)

I can't get BF3 to run well, even on the lowest possible settings. I have R2 w/ i7, throttlestop, overlocked GPU, overclocked CPU 164Mhz and game booster. Pre-rendered frames set to 0 in NVIDIA control panel. I've tried everything I can think of. GPU is getting around 96-99% usage in-game.

Has anyone else had problems? I'd hate to think I spent $60 on a game that's not even playable on my PC.

About Skyrim: I disagree, so far almost every 'less demanding' game (like almost all multi-platform games are) runs fine on medium-high on my R1. Skyrim probably won't be an exception. But who knows for sure? :)

I pre-ordered the game and will post an update when I get it running!

I've pre-ordered Skyrim as well. I'm going to do everything in my power to get it to run at least default settings. I'm a little worried, considering it looks heavy on the shadows and view distance, but I have confidence the M11x can handle it.

Looking for the same response as above. I have the R1 and systemrequirementslab says that the CPU is below minimum but as we know that only tells half the story. Anyone taken the dive for MW3 on the R1?

It might be able to handle it, but you really need to get more RAM.

My R1 *might* be able to handle it with the CPU and GPU maxed out but quite frankly after my BF3 fiasco I am not really bothered if it can play it or not. I now have Portrait Eyefinity (3560x1920) on my Desktop for these new releases.

Might soon be able to tell you guys if Diablo 3 works on the r1!

My brother owns a very large computer programming company, one of his employee's was taken by blizzard and now works there. But the employee asked my brother if he wanted in on Diablo 3, he doesnt play games so he offered it to me. Still waiting for the reply and if I am in or not.

I can confirm that Diablo 3 works on the r1. I played the beta for a little bit on my laptop, just running around town not doing much and it was fairly smooth. I didn't change any video settings from what it was already set at. I would say I was getting about 25+ fps. Nothing spectacular, it may slow down a little when playing the actual game but it is definitely playable imo.

i remember diablo2 playing ok on my desktop, but slowing down alot in moo-moo land :D
so it may slow down a lot if you got 25fps only moving a li'l around the town

It was weird but i oc my gpu

I wasn't using fraps so I don't actually know what the fps was. I also didn't check the video settings or anything, I just loaded it up with the default settings and it worked. I'm aware when you start getting into crazy intense places it may slow down a bit, but I completely think it's playable from what little I tried it on my laptop.

I also posted this in the Skyrim specs forum, but still will probably help some R1 owners :)

I just tried and tested the game for about 45 minutes on my R1! Its absolutely great!

The game itself put the settings on high. I left it at that and started the game. It is playable on default high but I don't recommend it. After the tutorial when I got outside for the first time I restarted the game on default medium. Still looks great and runs very smooth. I tried out a few different settings ranging from medium-ultra and concluded that for now I play the game on HIGH on my R1 with AA/AF turned off and it runs good enough for me

Some people will probably prefer the default medium settings for some extra fps, but I think high runs pretty smooth as well.

Hope this helps for all the R1 owners!

Edit: CPU is OC with BIOS, GPU stock

    Intel® Core™ i7 2617M 1.5GHz (2.6GHz w/Turbo Boost, 4MB Cache)
    2GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M
    8192MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x4096]

Could you give me an idea of what modern games i could be playing at Medium/High? eg. MW3/Skyrim/Saints Row 3?

Given how long this title has been in development for and how system friendly and scaleable Blizzard games are, to appeal to a vast an audience as possible, I'd actually be surprised if you encountered poor performance to be honest.

Not to mention it's a beta, so there's a strong possibility of an even more optimized experience by the time it's released.

So yeah, I reckon medium/high settings for an R1 and every other M11x iteration will just max it out easily.

From the little bit that I played last night, diablo 3 beta runs on lowest settings just fine on the r1. On the default settings it would drop alot of frames when fighting. SO I dropped it down, now it seems to run smooth.

r2/r3 guys, you will be just fine with this game

I didnt get a chance to run it with fraps yet, as I only played for about 20 minutes. The frame drops on high were the same if there was one bad guy or 5 bad guys. It actually would only drop frames when my guy would swing his weapon.

Definitely. Arkham City uses the unreal engine which runs very well on the M11x.

Not sure about Assassin's Creed but I've seen vids of AC2 running well on the R1 so I don't think you'll have a problem.
