Tip your M11x on to its lid and use compressed air against the back exhaust grill of the laptop, doing so will blow much of the dust through the bottom substantially reducing overall temperatures.

Anyone play Diablo 2 on their m11x? It's an old game but I seem to lag quite a bit in it. When I launch the game and first load it up I get about 5-15 fps, after a few minutes it will go up to being smooth however if a lot of enemies are on screen it starts lagging pretty bad. My friend has been playing LAN with me on an old sony vaio (probably about 5-6 years?) and the game runs Diablo 2 perfectly while I'm lagging up a storm. I don't really understand this laptop. Some things will work amazingly well that you wouldn't expect to (Skyrim on an R1), then something like Diablo 2 almost kills my laptop.

Any tips on getting The Witcher 2 running on an M11x r3 i5? It's been the only game so far that I've experienced has actually started to tax this little monster... :(

I played Diablo 2 for quite a bit. No major slowdowns, although the fact that this game can't use the nvidia card is a shame. Even overclocked the integrated graphics has some stuttering issues.

    It's playable though.

Heard some where that after updating to 2.0 patch, which removing DRM protection, the R3 can run smoothly on med settings.

Anyone know about R2 i5? Do I have to OC my GPU to run The Witcher 2?

Totally maxed it out on an r3 I5 so I can't imagine your 'blackhawk' being that far behind, if I were honest! :p

At first glance I can say that I don't think it's that taxing a game, unless the fighting gets a bit heavy maybe? You should be flying along at medium, easily.

I tried whitelisting the demo but I couldn't get my machine to use the Nvidia graphics option, it was perpetually stuck on the Intel HD no matter what I did so seeing as you have manual switching you'll have better luck than me!

I have been trying to install the Beta on my M11x for days now. It works fine on my M17x R3, but I cannot get the installer to finish downloading on my M11x. It's constantly hanging up, crashing, etc... I don't know if it's the M11x or something else.

but the minute I get it working, I will record it in action.

Diablo 3 beta runs flawlessley on my R3 with all of the options maxed out, not sure what It'd be like on a seperate monitor, it runs fine on the little machine though.

Awesome! If it runs with everything maxed out on the lil R3 screen, I am sure it will run fine too with the settings alittle lower on a 24inch screen :D Thanks for the good news!

I should mention I've the i5 R3 with 6GB of RAM so yours shouldn't break a sweat if the main game does turn out to be a little more taxing on the CPU... :p

Kingdoms of Amalur and Warhammer: Dawn of War 2 demos both have something in common on my R3...

Even though I have whitelisted the executables for compliance with the Nvidia 540m they both do not seems to recognize the GPU for some reason...

Warhammer runs fine on low settings but any of the higher graphical options are actually completely greyed out, seems a bit odd!

As for Amalur, runs awful on the Intel HD as you can imagine.

I'm running the latest drivers yet still no joy, anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem?

I had this problem with Mortal online, I just set the global settings to always use the nvidia card. I did this in the nvidia control panel. No matter if it was whitelisted, or I set it to run using the gt 540m, nothing worked until the above change.

Also, Aion runs great on the r3 i7 (2637m). I had settings up full on high quality engine and it ran a treat. Only thing is, I don't play it anymore and never got a chance to try out mass pvp/seige, which I can only imagine is playable if you 'Alt + F12' to get rid of player models. I had to do this on my main rig ffs!

My friend, who is big into Aion (I mean really big into it) says it runs about 30 FPS on his M11x. I can't confirm or deny this since I don't have the game, and am not willing to get a subscription just to do a stress test :)

He didn't say what settings or drivers he was using, or if he was overclocked either. Sorry this isn't much help.

I played Aion at launch on my R1 and it ran fine on medium settings. Only real lag was entering the busy cities which is probably less of a problem now than it was at launch when there were queues to get into the game.

    >Maca0716

    i own m11x r1
just bought total war shogun 2 and the latest expansion
run abit mix settings and it seems to perform the same result with shogun 2
fps is around 15-20 during battles
    is playable but not smooth....
the biggest problem is the whole game cost 30gb and the loading time is quite long
ps : don't buy the game's expansion only cause they lock the shogun 2 single player campaign unless u already purchase shogun 2 ^_^

one question to everyone can help me
    >im a noob at steam but is it running steam will effect the fps of a game? is there anyway for me to run a game without having to access steam everytime i play a game? any help is welcome ^_^

On my m11x while playing WoW I have my graphics set to Ultra with Verticle sync. disabled and shadow quality set on good, and I am able to average 50-60 FPS in Dalaran. Also in 5 Man dungeons I usually run around 130 FPS, then in 25 man raids with spells going off I have around 40 FPS. So I believe that those settings are pretty good?

Below you will find my rambling review of hours played experience of Dota2 on an m11x r3 i5 gt540m outputted to a plasma 50" tv using an external kb/m.

Dota 2 plays well at 1366x768 with some graphic options disabled, but shadows and textures can stay on high. At 1920x1080 it's choppy unless you lower the texture quality and everything else.

The m11x seems to perform pretty good for it's native resolution for most any game, but outputting to a tv and trying to up the resolution definately takes a toll on the machine. The next update should include an external power button and wishfully native 1080 gaming performance (this will allow enough horsepower for usuable 3d gaming performance at lower resolutions as well). Also the cooling fan could use another invention as this quiet to an audible roaring machine once the gpu hits 67c or the cpu hits 70c+ while still allowing the cpu to reach 95c and the gpu to reach 90c all stock while sitting on a flat table playing dota 2 is not working. The fan's either real low or real high, and high isn't good enough. Once the temps reach this level the game's fps come to a significant crawl and is completely unplayable.

Now I have it sitting on a backwards NC1000 cooling pad dota 2 gaming temps stay in the 70's to tapping the 80's under full load. Complete desktop replacement. Idle temps with the cooler on max power can bring the cpu and gpu just under the 50's and 40's C. The cooler is audible, but the m11x is louder as its fan still comes on under load, full speed of course. Dota 2 uses 100% of the gpu.

Tips: Disabling turboboost in bios will lower your temps. Overclocking the cpu can overheat your computer right?

    1. I would think it's specifically your i3 which is giving you choppy performance, i play everything on my i5 M11x at mid-high on my 42" plasma @ 1920x1080 and i have no problems.

    2. The Turbo boost is a built-in overclock from Intel, it is supposed to have it and as such it runs perfectly fine within the rated temperatures. Also Turbo boost essentially takes the power from both cores and gives it to just your first one, so at the same time the 2nd core is underclocked hence balancing out the temps.

    3. The fan is loud, but no louder than a decked-out desktop with a few case fans.

You guys have the same exact computer. Also resolution is a gpu thing........and the m11x doesn't have the horsepower to play pretty much any new game at 1920X1080 smoothly.
