It might be specific to certain parts that people are ordering. I noticed that after I ordered mine, there was a delay on the WWAN cards. I see most people on here are ordering their m11x with the 320gb hard drive option, I chose to get the cheapest drive option (which they should have in stock) and replace it with a better drive. Also I ordered it through EPP. Not sure if EPP gets priority over other orders...

    I haven't got the m11x yet....could still be delayed.

I ordered mine with a 320 GB Hard Drive and I am not delayed. Ordered it on July 1st with the website and it stills says it will arrive the 20th(7 day shipping for me). It can't just be the Hard Drive...

Case in point, see below. The only difference between this system and mine was 4GB ram, not hdd, not chassis.
My order was already noted as a priority EPP order by June 19th.

this is complete bs. i am so pissed right now. got an email at 1am PST saying that there will be a delay on my i7 until the 20th of july. It was supposed to be shipped in the morning and get to be on 7/12. ordered 6/27 with i7, 320gb, bluetooth. must be the shortage on the 320gb. gotta b*tch at dell tomorrow for sure. they just messed with the wrong person.

I too just received an order delay my order date was 6/27 and my original EDD was 7/13 and not its 7/20 and I even called dell a couple days ago to upgrade my warranty and they assured me my order would not be delayed. Oh well I guess that just gives me more time to see some reviews on the Envy 14 so I can decide whether I want to keep the M11x r2 or get something else.

finally I found something that makes sense. I was trying to figure out how Dell's EDD works, and so far I found nothing but people ordering before other people and receiving first, and so on. but now I found another one who has exactly the same timeline as me. I ordered 6/24 with EDD 7/12 and two days ago it was updated to 7/19.

    my config is i7 / 4GB / 500GB / BT / personalized nameplate. I had a U$ 194,00 discount. $150 into a free i7 upgrade plus $44 for another discount I don't remember. maybe Dell is delaying this type of orders?

Atkammoh, what is your config? Did you get any type of discount?

My EPP order has been delayed (and cancelled!) twice already... placed originally on 06/09, with EDD of 07/07. Since then, it was cancelled twice, and the latest EDD is 07/29. That does blow. They're "working" to accelerate my build, but no luck so far for my order... looks like several of us are getting this runaround.

Exactly the same as you except the HDD, mine is a 320GB HDD. The discount is also the same, the i7 upgrade, $150 instant savings etc. Thats a little odd because I thought the delays were because of the 320GB HDD since I had been verifying with people on here about what HD they were getting with their order and they all said 320HD. So am I guessing they screwed up with the discounts and are getting things settled down because of downpour of the i7 upgrades that people ordered.

I ordered mine on 6/28 and the EDD is Tomorrow 7/9 and it hasnt changed at all over the course of this but it still says "In Production"

I too got the i7 discount so im guessing thats why it still says in production but unlike the others getting delayed my EDD hasnt changed at all.

does this mean its still coming soon?
or am i getting a month delay like some of you guys? -_-

Yep it looks like the i7's are the cause of the delay. My EDD still hasnt changed but...i just checked on their site and if you select the i7 they have the "will delay your order" link under it. Says its a 9 day delay...i wonder if i should call them back and ask again, the first person was not willing to change my shipping because it says its still on for the 16th which i am beginning to doubt.

I ordered mine on 6/30 and my ESD is 7/13 and EDD is 7/16. My config is i7, 320gb, etc.. like most people on here. It's still "in production" right now, let's hope it doesn't get delay!

Well the i7's can't be the only cause of delay as my config is i5.
I also would suggest not trusting the order status screen. Even though my EDD was changed to an astounding August 5th on the phone days ago, the order status screen still shows "in production" and July 12th as the EDD.

    Config: i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD
    Order date: June 28th
    Orginal EDD: July 12th
    Current EDD: August 5th

Hmm..Maybe i just got lucky or maybe none of my laptop components was delayed...

i5, 160GB, 4GB, with BT, Black (under EPP)

    Ordered June 29th
    ESD was July 9th

I just checked and its changed from 'In Production' to 'Shipped' right on schedule.

I chose 3-5 Day shipping so EDD is still July 14th. Shipping to NY.

ofcourse i'll only get to get my hands on it at end of July once my sis ships it to me in India.

    Black, i7, 256GB SSD, 4g ram, etc...

Ordered on June 20th and the EDD says 7/14 (hasn't changed or delayed) - was hoping it would have come by now, I think nearly a month wait for a laptop is outrageous.

Should have just gone to Best Buy and bought something similar. It's not like we live in the dark ages here. We're talking about one of the leaders of computer building/selling in the world - and almost a month to wait for a single laptop. Unreal.

Yeah thats what gets me too, its not like we are ordering a Bentley limited edition and even those would not take a month. I could have imagined if these laptops were exclusive and justify such a long wait time. But even places like Walmart and Bestbuy have started to sell these. Shouldnt it be faster to get it directly from the company.
My only precedence of not cancelling my order is, hoping this long delay is caused by them going through their QC issues that have crept up and the units being shipped are being thoroughly tested for design faults. Do you guys think, thats whats going on? Atleast, Im keeping my fingers crossed and dont doubt my purchase.

I really wonder what is going on. I gave Dell another call and EDD is still the 20th, no delays. This is really strange

I ordered on the morning of July 1st and I got a M11xR2 with i7 Core, 320 GB hard drive, 4 GB of ram, bluetooth and black soft touch.
A lot of you guys who ordered even before me are getting delayed, yet I have not been delayed.

I'm starting to believe that the delays have a "financial" reason. Think with me:

    - You bought a given product, and paid $ 1350.00
    - John Doe ordered the same product, but got a discount and paid $ 1150.00
    - Both orders were placed at the same day, at the same time
    - Your credit card, and also John's, were billed in the same day
    - The company sold 2 products wich are exactly the same, but one was sold about $ 200.00 cheaper.
    - The credit card companies (Visa, Amex, Mastercard, etc.) usually pays to the seller about 28 days after the purchase

Having said that, now let's look at the facts pretending we are the company and not a customer. It's natural to delay an order that has a ~15% discount until you receive the money (or any day near this).

When we get a huge discount like this, we are reducing the profit they are making. It's more intersting for a company to keep the money (the ~15% difference) in a financial investment (almost all big companies do this), where they will have a little profit. My $194.00 discount doesn't make too much difference. But all discounts granted can make a huge difference. So, they are delaying the order until the day (or a day closer) they will receive the payment from the credit card company.

If that is the real reason for the delays, I understand them. Every business is (well, should be) focused in results. Shareholders, owners, etc., all of them wants the company to have the best results. This is normal. And I don't care if I have to wait one month to receive my notebook if this is the price for having a $ 194.00 discount.

Anyone here paid with PayPal? In how much time you received your m11x?

Actually Dell doesn't charge your CC until it ships. At least that's how they did mine. They pinged it when I ordered to make sure the funds were available, though.

Come to think of it, I ordered my M11x on my Parent's pay day with a Visa Credit Card.

Note: If your wondering, I'm only 14. And no, I am not spoiled. I have kept perfect grades ever since for 1st grade and I have never received an allowance.

Well, I used EPP (10%) and a $100 off coupon to get approx $201 off and my order "seems" to be on track (order: 6/29; Shipped; EDD: 7/14)

Total was $817 before shipping n taxes, $908 after. Paid with a MC CC.

I think it's PURELY to do with what parts are in stock when. For some unfortunate people, while waiting for one part, another may have run out, causing multiple delays.

Don't give up! Don't cancel the order. The machine is awesome, and despite what other people are saying in other forums, there's no other machine with this processing power and size. Nothing, nada, niente.

I admit I'm also impatient (I'm checking my order status every morning ). Some days ago when I started to get crazy with the delay, I thought that I'm waiting about a month for something that I'm going to use for years. That helped me to stay cool.

Unfortunately, all we can do is sit back and wait.

Good luck for you. Don't give up. You'll have your machine soon.

Have faith. Maybe the monkey will pick your number ;) LOL

I ordered June 28th. Original EDD was July 14th. I just got an email today and said it's been delayed until July 21st.

I called Dell and the customer service rep told me they received many orders during that promotional period (200 some bucks off on upgraded i7) which caused the delay.

I also asked her if she could upgrade the shipping for me because of the delay, to which she replied yes and upgraded me to overnight shipping for free.

now that's strange. my CC was charged since the day I placed the order... after reading your post I verified my credit report again in Amex's website and yes, my card was charged in 6/24. I haven't received the CC bill yet, it was sent a few days ago (7/6), but I saw that this purchase is included in it.

note: my CC was not issued in the United States (I'm in the US right now and will stay here for a few months, but I don't live here). do you think this can be the reason I was charged in the day I placed the order?

anyways, I still belive that one of the reasons for the delays are related to the discounts granted and payment method. note that I said *one* of the reasons. it makes sense. but if I'm one of the few that was charged immediatly after placing the order then my theory has a flaw.

edit: found the reason why my CC was charged. It's because I used an international credit card, not issued in the United States. I think this is a standard procedure, but I think I'm lucky they at least acepted my card. Almost all online stores I bought something in the last months refused to accept my CC. Fortunately there is PayPal to help when this happens (if Dell refused my order then I would try PayPal).

Hmm, those of you who have cancelled your orders; at what stage was your order? I assumed that once it passed "Work in progress" you couldn't cancel your order?

The riddle is starting to be solved. I have almost the same waiting time. I ordered 6/24, original EDD 7/12, updated to 7/19. Atkammoh's have the same dates as me (you can find his post a few pages before).

Checking this thread we can see that this delay (about a month) isn't happening to all the people. There's not enough information to make this a final conclusion, but for what I read so far I'm thinking that the delayed orders are the orders with the discounts.

I wasn't totally wrong about the "financial reason" of the delays.

But again, I don't mind to wait one month if I'm saving $194.00 bucks.

Hmm that is weird, as I'm in the US, too. The only difference is I used a Visa; perhaps that's the reason.

I just checked my statement to make sure I wasn't making that up :p. Yep, ordered 6/12 and the bill went through 6/28, which was the day Fedex got it.

Also I used a 21% off, $100 off, and free shipping coupons.

I just ordered mine today, the $799. The estimated delivery date says (7/26). Will I get it on time or is it probably going to be delayed as I read in these previous posts?

But dont you think, they would take a hit from people canceling their orders because of such high delays. The discounts dont really get to be worth it, if you are waiting for a month to get your product in. Unless they are so confident that people wouldnt cancel the order because of the popularity of the product.
