M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

My EDD was 07/15. Got an email last night saying it was delayed until 07/21.

 

Fedex was expecting mine on the 13th. Nothing yet.

 

Grrrrrrr.......my EDD of 7/15 was also pushed back to 7/21 last night in a dear John e-mail....

 

Hello Guys,

I placed my order on 6/28 and the EST was 7/13. Then it was delayed to 21.
I called dell and complained about it.They made it NBD but still not shipping day.

Today I got an email saying that my Alienware M11x i7 , 4GB, 320GB is on its way!!!!
I do recommend that you guys call dell over and over again until they get ship your laptop.
IM HAPPY!!! ONE MORE DAY !!!!!!

 

Wow, congratulation! I'm still hassling Dell but nothing fruitful has come my way yet.

 

Ordered my m11x a month ago 6/14. My EDD was originally July 5 then got delayed to the 14 now finally delayed again to the 21. The thing is that I'm going away to Korea for the rest of the summer (leaving the 19). Called three times and emailed the sales person I ordered from. After waiting 2 hours I found out that the laptop has been shipped to the US and MIGHT get to me before the 19. I really want the laptop but with the delay I might have to settle for a laptop at bestbuy

Orginal EDD: 7/15
First delay EDD: 7/21
Finally actual ship date: 7/15(NBD)!!
Arrival Date: 7/16

Although i received the delay e-mail just last night (EDD 7/15 to 7/21), I just got a call from my rep informing me that my order has just shipped, and that I will get it tommorrow(7/16)! Whoohoo!

I just checked the status of the order and true enough, it's shipped! My rep will call me tomorrow to confirm that I received it.

When I used the FedEx tracking page, I see it was picked up in Nashville, TN today with standard overnight shipping. I thought all orders were shipped from China?

 

I guess I spoke too soon. My new EDD of 7/21 is now 7/16. The order status page now says "Shipped". No tracking info yet. Yay!

Well it looks like I have to join the ranks of people watching others who ordered later receive their orders first. *sigh*

Meanwhile, I've had no updates or contact from Dell and for a third day now I get to look at a big N/A on my order status page.
It's really too bad we can't get this product anywhere else. I'm uncomfortable rewarding this kind of shameful service.

 

Like some other people, I have gotten my status updated to "shipped" today. I checked the tracker, and all it says is EDD of 7/16 and that all they have is the shipping info from 7/12. As long as I get it by tomorrow I'm all good!

 

Hang in there man, i'm in the same boat, even though my EDD got updated to 7/20 from 7/16, they never contact me about it. Talk about bad customer service, I have to wait till I get home from work to start complaining and maybe get a few freebies out of it.

 

Well, it happened, they kicked my EDD out to 7/22. I vowed if they kicked it out by more than 3 days, I’d just order the Vaio Z 122GX/Black. It’s a higher spec computer in basically every aspect. Smaller and lighter too except for an extra 1.5 inches of width. The only problem is, I can’t stand Sony’s ID. It looks too dainty. Like something that’s made to be opened in a coffee shop to check facebook. The chrome logo on the back looks like it belongs on a hybrid car, not a laptop. I’m not sure what to do…

 

Sorry to hear your troubles. But isn't the Vaio Z almost twice the price?

The one thing I liked about Dell compared to others that I had to deal with(HP, Asus), was that they typically assign a single point of contact with you. This means that the same rep will give you updated status of your 'case number' almost on a daily basis and you did not have to call in to speak to a different rep everytime.

In my case, when I placed my order on 7/1, I called in the following day as I wanted to upgrade my shipping to next business day. Because I this, I was assigned a case number and the rep constantly gave me updates daily if not once every two days either via phone or e-mail.

I think this was one of the reasons why my order did not really slip through the EDD cracks too much as the rep was always on top of it, and I am receiving my unit tomorrow with just a 1 day delay.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you receive it as soon as possible. I know the agonizing wait. Believe me. My wait not only was 2 weeks for the mllx, but I had been waiting for a laptop since March. Ordered 2 Asus G-73 laptops(Wait was avg 1 month for each) and returned both as both had terrible issues, ordered the Envy 17, waited another 1 month and returned it as it got so hot and actually warped the case....asked for a replacement(End of May) and it still yet to arrive . Of course I will return it when it arrives as I have decided on the m11x now. And I have never had the same excitement waiting for the m11x when I was waiting for all the rest!

 

That's good advice, but I didn't know to order by phone. I ordered online and can only get a random person in India to read me what they see on the website. So for me, thier support is just as "good" as Gateway, HP, or any of the other companies.

Cost is not an issue with the Vaio Z. There's one on sale for 1699 and since I can simply mail order from an authorized reseller, I don't have to pay $150 in state sales tax. All told, the price is only $250 higher.

I think the Costco down the street may sell the M11x v1 and the Vaio Z. I may look at both later today and decide if I can live with the looks of the Vaio.

 

ok...... my EDD was pushed back about a week ago to 7/16 but when i call the order status number it says its still "being processed" and the website says "in production"

am i really going to get it by tomorrow? cause it doesnt seem like it...

 

Great news! My rep just called me and said that my production phase has been completed and that I should be receiving an email very soon with the tracking numbers. For those who are still waiting, hang in there!

I'm on the phone trying to cancel mine now. The order line is kicking me to the Alienware save agent line, and they aren't answering thier phones, so I may just end up having to cancel by blocking the transaction.

 

When did you originally order it? You can't wait one more week?

 

These guys have demonstrated no accountability. So while I can wait until the 22nd, I can’t afford a slip beyond this point and I’m sure they don’t care.
I’ve even paid an additional $39 for 2nd day shipping to ensure it arrives this week. Are they still intending to charge me this? Do they expect me to call to “negotiate” this fee? It’s inexcusable to tell me “whoops – you’re delayed” and not address this charge.
If they were a better run org they would waive this charge and call this out on thier online status tool rather than force me to call.

This operation seems to be just too flaky to trust with serious business.
I head out to a technical conference in Seattle for the week of 7/26. I need a laptop for this and it has to have battery life. My M200 Tablet battery now lasts around 20 minutes. I don’t want to buy a new $80 battery for just one week of use. It sounds like the safest option is to order my second choice ultraportable from a trustworthy place that has it in stock.

 

That sucks.... I'm just so happy I haven't been delayed at all during this whole process. I shouldn't have say that... I'm gonna check the status page and it will be delayed or something

 

My Dell rep just called to tell me it would be delivered tomorrow. I still consider this strange as FedEx still says they've never seen the package...


Edit: FedEx now admits they have my package, they picked it up in Chicago and it's estimated for delivery in Des Moines tomorrow 7/16! Time to start downloading all the latest drivers and getting them ready...

Yeah, I'm a little confused as to how they're gonna get mine to me by tomorrow. All it shows is that they got shipping info on 7/12 and Dell says it shipped today, but I didn't get NBD. I just hope it comes...

Ya, the order status on the online page can lag by up to 24 hours.

On another note, mine is gonna ship tonight. If it doesn't ship by tomorrow, I'm gonna call dell up.

This thread is very worrying.

I ordered today, and payed $55 for 2nd business day shipping, with an EDD of 7/28.

Can I expect that to be unlikely to happen?

 

Don't worry about your shipping charges. If Dell delays your order, you can just call them to waive the fee for you. Just a simple call. Not much of a hassle.

 

with all of the recent delays it might come later you could be lucky and it comes before or on your edd

 

Oh, I know they'd waive the fee, but it seems like every 9/10 get delayed at least a week.

 

Mine was delayed for only a day. Keep your hopes up

 

Well it's questionable.
The main reason why there were so many delays was because of the "Free processor upgrade" deal that Dell was running. Now they are doing a discount offer thing: Back To School
So you may or may not get delayed. It's hard to say.

 

With my luck it's going to get delayed a month and then when it gets here it'll be DOA.

 

Just checked my FedEx status page.... it has arrived in Keasbey, New Jersey, and is on route to Bergen County! Alienware M11x here we come!

Ordered on 7/8 with the ssd option was given a EDD of 8/2 Then today I got email notice for it to be delivered 7/16
