M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

I had to do a reorder... hated to do it 'cause I'm horrible at waiting, but I had to have that GB ethernet. Canada's also getting a no charge 15 month subscription to McAfee, also new. We Canadians get the customary 'up the butt' treatment on pricing with the $100 surcharge. It's nice to see a little extra value so I feel a little less shafted.

Canceled yesterday after waiting over 2 months, checked the website confirmed it was canceled. This morning I get a email saying it has shipped and will arrive on the 7th.

 

You were 3 days away from the EDD and you canceled? I mean I understand you've been waiting for a little over a month but you couldn't wait 3 more days? Plus if you keep getting delayed, you should've called and ask for a decent upgrade. That's what I've done.

 

What am I missing? I see no option or changes to the technical specs for a GB Ethernet.

 

My EDD got pushed back again to the 13th. My original order date was 2/17, closer to two months.
I did call; the Indian woman told me that they have NEVER compensated or upgraded anything for anybody ever and she had been there for five years and she had never heard of such a thing, I said that there are a lot of people on notebookreview.com getting their shipping upgraded to next day and I want the same, again she politely told me I was stupid without using the "stupid" word.
I got the same out of three other telephone operators and a person on a dell chat.

 

as far as I can tell: the 100MBit-should be enough.... keep in mind how slow your Internetconnection is ;-) [EDIT: mine is 60/4MBit/s..... ]
And to send some Files to another PC .... well - yes it could be faster - but how often do you really use it on that laptop?
Don't tell me you will do it every day .... its like a CD-Burner.... 1x/2x/4X/8X/16X....
keep in mind 80minutes/40/20/10/5 - and is it a problem to wait 5 min for a CD to be burned? with a 32/48x burner it ts 2/3 minutes.... its not a big advantage if you look to 2/4/8x....

And if this is the only bad thing on the M11x - and that will hold you back - DON'T BUY! You will be unpleased with it. Its as some people look only on benchmarks and don't see these 300Points an overclocked unit gets more...

This thing is as it is - and it is great value for money. Solid build and not so creapy like a Acer 1810 (with poor grafics). So I know what I need and what i really don#t need - and that is a Intel iX and 1GBit network.
I need long time on battery, solid build hardware, quiet, HD-capeable, possibility to play SOME games (not all - I have a PC @home too). So keep in mind what that is built for.

Maybe you should get a small one in the >3000$ region to get your needs satisfied.

maybe you should not ask kindly to get something....
THEY are too late by not sending you your PC . They promised a date to deliver. So THEY shold think about what can they DO that you do not chancel your order.

That's strange, I got a free Razer Mamba as a consolation, but not compensation. I guess the words being used are different.

 

@= namevergeben I was just asking if the GB ethernet was an option I missed as I just saw someone say they cancelled and re-ordered to get it, but I see nothing about this on the AW site, too late anyhow as I already got my M11x a couple days ago.

I wasn't asking for a diatribe, just a simple, yes there is or will be that option, or not.

 

Sorry mate ;-) But I get more and more angry about people who can't buy things as they are..... They have to complain about the CPU, the 335m, the display, the 100MBit-Lan, the not available WWAN, worse support, their nonwilling wife, the rude children, etc..... grml

So no - there is no upgrade for the LAN. And there will be never till there is a complete renew of the device. Romours are aut there Q4/2010 maybe...
But what would anyone expect? A Intel i5, faster Grafic, better screen, 10GB-Lan, and a Batterie, that gets filled with alcohol - no need to plug power in ever ;-)

Sorry.... If you need a Laptop NOW get the thing that suits your needs mostly. And if you can't find a rig - I'm sure you WILL not need anything - you wish to have something ....... ;-)

Gigabit ethernet is a standard delivery in Canada. Visit www.dell.ca and spec out an M11x. It's pretty obvious what it comes with, at least for us Canadians.

This is new; it changed a couple days ago. It may be that this is Dell's way of justifying the different price given that the US and Cdn dollars are at par. I don't really know why but that's my best guess. It may also be that the 10/100 is headed out as stock on that card is depleted.

 

Interesting. I have it in writing that my NIC will be 10/100/1000 from a Dell rep... and it's on the Dell Canada site. My order sheet says otherwise so I have insisted on an email confirmation. It will be interesting to see what arrives. Off the top of one's head, does anyone know if the NIC is a component card?

Wahhoooo. My M11x just shipped today and will arrive tomorrow!

 

My m11x came a week early! It seems like a trend! I must add that the battery disable Fn+ f2 still does nothing but show you that it's enabled. Other than that, I haven't had any problems! I've played GTA: san an with near max settings and it didn't seem to even blink an eye. I plan on installing Mirrors Edge today. I'll get back if it locks up or not. I'm hoping this is a good build. *prays*

I just noticed they changed my status to 'Shipped' will arrive tomorrow it says, a few hours ago it was still in production, it'll arrive a week ahead of schedule, that's freakin' awesome.

 

I ordered mine on 4/3 with an EDD of 4/19. I am hoping to be surprised next week as I will be out of town the week of the EDD. Then my wife will get to play with it for the whole week before I even get to touch it.

That just would not be right.

 

Ordered 3/28, received 4/7. Originally, EDD was listed as 4/15, but around 4/3 it changed to 4/7. FEDEX passed by late though, which was torture since I had it shipped to my job, and we finished early that day.

BTW, it's beautiful.....

 

Just got the "Order Shipped" today (4/9) and as previously stated ordered on 4/3. I have NBD delivery so hopefully I will get it Monday.

Well tbh i was suprised it went this fast! My EDD was set @ 29 april. So i was quite surpised i got a mail it was shipped. But lets hope it gets here tomorrow!

Fianlly!! I just picked it up, its still unopened as i am at work. I also got my intel 160 SSD cant wait to get home to set this thing up.

My status just changed to Shipped today, I'm pumped. I ordered it 4-7-2010 and it is supposed to be here by the 16th (was estimated as the 26th, so that's nice). I got to check one out at the local micro center a few days ago and this computer kicks . Of course, checking it out in person just made the wait ever worse.

I got the bloated price version of the m11x on the EPP site (I didn't want to pay the premium for either the su7300 (added $100), and the damn antivirus (adds $89), that's why I call it bloated). But even with the added cost of those two things I got a decent deal at $934 shipped with a discount that my wife gets at work (21%) plus the $50 off coupon. It would have been much better to get 21% + $50 off on a version without those two useless things but I didn't want to wait for Dell to make a sensible decision (yet I rewarded it with money, go figure).

 

Just a question for the UK users. I am getting prepared to order the laptop in the next weeks.

Has anyone had success haggling with Dell and if possible what have you off?

Ordered on 14/4 (UK). Been at 'In Production' for a day or so now.

EDD is showing as 19/5! I hope it doesnt take that long.

Also the airports being closed all around Europe is bound to have an effect.

Shame, I was hoping to get this for my holiday on the 26th April.

 

Mine is finally in Sweden The irony is tat I am closer to it now when I'm at my parents than where it will be delivered at tomorrow

Estimated delivery date is on or before 13th May.

Mine is with Schenker and the status is "informing reciever about delivery" I've been sitting on needles for the past hours waiting for my packet to come

Mine is shipped! With possible volcanic delays though the airlines were getting back to normal... btw ordered on the 14/4 with an EDD of 19/5. So far less time than quoted. (i'm in Uk)

Your result is definitely promising for me as we were given very similar EDDs.
I was also under the impression that flights were back to normal now?
Hopefully that factor will be eliminated soon

mine has progressed, i ordered my m11x on the 19/4 with an EDD of 13/5 shipped on the 22/4 (pretty good). then yesterday i got a automated phone call from dell.. they want to deliver it on wed's morning (28/4). however im a bit confused because dell sent me an email the same day saying expect a delay on your delivery.. not sure if thats a late warning or another delay
