M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

I made my order on the 30th of July, and the EDD was 8/16, but it got updated to 8/9. I've called Fedex to confirm that it will arrive tomorrow. Still can't wait though ;P

Did you order the gray or black model? Someone said they have a shortage of the black chassis.

I am glad to be able to post in this thread as I wait for my M11x!

I ordered it on 8/5, with an EDD of 8/20. I live in the San Francisco area and haggled for next business day shipping (I will be leaving for school back East pretty soon). I hope the EDD gets moved up!

I ordered Soft Touch Black with the i7, 8gb RAM, and a 256 SSD. Do you think that this will delay my order?

Hey Jackman, I ordered the same configuration as yours, and from what I have gathered on this site, mine has definitely taken longer than most others. I ordered mine on 21 July, and it was delayed a few times until it shipped this morning. If it arrives on the updated EDD it will have taken a total of 21 days from ordering to delivery. One of the guys on here heard that the 8GB's of RAM was the cause for the delay and others say that it is the black chassis that was the cause of the delay, so I don't know for sure what exactly what caused mine to take so long. Hope yours is not delayed!! Good luck man.

Given how inconsistent the information Dell gives on these things, it is nice to see a bit of an exchange of info on the topic!

I ordered an R1 on August 2nd, (Lunar Shadow, upgraded to 4gb RAM and the 320 gb HD). Despite the lovely "estimated ship date" of August 3rd throughout the ordering process, I was given the EDD of 8/17.

On Friday, it was moved up to 8/10, though I haven't received any information that would suggest this could actually happen. My shipping is still listed as 7 Day Shipping, and it still lists it as "Delivery Preparation" (in my account screen) and "In Production" (on the order screen). So, I figure there are three options. They will ship it on Monday, and it will be 1 day after all. They shipped it and never updated the page. And finally, and (sadly) most likely, the new EDD is totally bonkers and not going to happen!

 

Mine just got REupdated to 8/10 instead of 8/13...we'll see...

I ordered my r2 on 7/30 and my is EDD 8/12. Still says "In Production." Got the 2day shipping; I just hope it gets here this week!

Hey p3zc0r3, what color did you order?

A number of people have been notified by Dell regarding delays caused by a shortage of the soft touch black chasis. It is not clear whether this shortage has been resolved.

 

Figured I'd chime in since I took ownership of my M11X R2 this past Friday.

Up in Ontario, Canada, ordered on July 25th. Stealth Touch I7.

I scored a ~4300 in 3DM06 with the bus OC'd to 164...with the shipped drivers. Upgrading to the newest Dell drivers brought me to ~7400. I'm going to retest that and then try the INF-hacked 258's.

Battery life with the 'power-saver' option enabled while browsing and downloading Steam games is around 5 hours.

This laptop is fantastic.

Mine's supposed to be here tomorrow, and it's at the closest sort facility so there's really no excuse. I bet Fedex makes some good money on the next business day over a weekend (no Saturday delivery) shipping though.

I'm not sure what portion of the computers are constructed in Malaysia but FWIW, mine shipped from NASHVILLE, TN.

Once I have my hands on the computer, I'll start trying to get some clarity on these habitual delays.

on my dell order status page it says this:

N/A
Shipping Method: 7 Day Delivery
Estimated Delivery Date: 8/10/2010 (updated)
Carrier: Not Shipped
Tracking Number: Not Shipped

Why is the address N/A?
on my receipt it has the shipping address correct.
I'm guessing that it will show up when they actually ship the laptop?
oh and its pretty funny dell says my laptop is not yet shipped even though the estimated delivery is in two days lol. I'd like to see that happen.

should I contact Dell because of this? or will it come up when they give the laptop to the shipper?

It won't hurt and you will be able to find out about any delays.

 

It seems the Order Status page is full of it. What was the time range for days in production (including quality control etc)?

 

Anywhere from less than a week to well over a month. Mine was delayed 5 days due to the case, your location might not suffer from that delay. Someone who ordered three days after me got theirs on Friday. Another gentleman who has been waiting since the beginning of July (iirc) is also slated to get his today.

Don't expect the computer before the EDD unless you have your FeDex tracking number, and even then be careful not to get your hopes up.

Hmm, that's odd on your EDD. It's probably because i went for the deal with $194 off pre-customized version.

 

Maybe it has something to do with the i5.

 

Are you logged into a dell.com account? If not, then logging in will display that information. It shows up as NA when I go to the order status link they provided (presumably because it is a potentially public link, I could post it here and it would work), but if I sign in, it shows my actual address.

You and I are actually in the exact same boat about the 10th! It is both of our EDD, but with no word it has shipped. Here's hoping luck is on our sides!

 

ok so Dell says they shipped my laptop now.
But it still says N/A for the address. Btw I am signed in to my Dell account.
When I click on the tracking number they game me on the Fedex website it says "Ship to" and then it has my correct city. hmmmmmm
*edit* fedex only has my city listed on the Destination. shouldn't it have my whole address? Sry, first time I ever order something online. *edit*

oh and one other thing. Also on my bill thing it says.

Someone who has an order coming via FedEx might be able to better answer your question pizzahutmaster, but when I receive things via UPS, it only lists the town to which it will be delivered. I suspect it is also a privacy thing - tracking information can be found by anyone with the tracking number.

I ordered mine (stealth black, i7, 4gb, 250gb) on June 28 and had a EDD of 8/12 now it's been moved to 8/19!!! ! What's the chance Dell will give me faster shipping if I call and complain? Anyone else get this delay that ordered around the same time?

Mine has been "shipped" since August 6th. However my fedex tracking has been stuck on "Shipment information sent to FedEx". They have not yet even picked up the package!!! And my EDD is tomorrow! What's going on?

 

Mine was custom ordered with the purchase date of the 6th and my EDD is the 18th.

 

Dude, I would like so call FedEx it ain't even funny.

 

So I just got off the phone with Dell and apparently there system shows that it has been boxed up and sent to the carrier. I explained that I received a phone call today and an update on my order status page saying "my item was on backorder" and that my estimated delivery had changed to 8/19. The Dell rep. said that it was an automated response, and that I should expect a tracking number within 24 hours... We shall see... I am hopeful though.

 

Good heavens!!! Talk about an unreliable inventory/shipment tracking system...geez!

I wouldn't be surprised if someone called them because Dell sent them a "Order Cancelled" notification only to have have Dell tell them over the phone that your laptop was sent overnight on a freaking rocket ship to the International Space Station! Here's your tracking number for the ISS package, please ensure that you are at the delivery location for a signature or it will have to be returned, have a nice day!

Oh, and by the way, we have shipped you a 19" pink Inspiron, not an m11X. Dell is a bunch of TARDS!!!!!
