M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Well it's all in "Dell time" I'm afraid.

My treasure has made it as far as Phoenix. Now looking doubtful for a tomorrow delivery.

EDIT - Indeed, FedEx EDD has now changed to the 11th. *sigh*

 

Mine is in the exact same situation. Either FedEx hasn't updated their tracking information on it through their system, or they haven't picked it up for several days. Both strike me as strange. I figure I'm going to see if it comes tomorrow, and then if not, see if I can track down where it is with Dell or FedEx.

 

Wow, while typing my last message, it changed to "in transit" in NJ. No estimated arrival though from FedEx, but given that I live in MD, the 8/10 is plausible. I hope that the same holds for yours seraphkz!

 

SAME THING!! Hahahah it's in transit in NJ. And it's only 20 minutes away from my house! I'm so excited!!!

Got mine today, very impressed with the build quality. (No screen/hinge issues thus far) Margin between keys takes a few minutes to get used to. Currently sitting at 81% battery with 4:18 left according to battery bar.

I'm crossing my fingers for you, Skaagen.

 

I'm in MD actually - it is just the laptop that's in NJ (I guess close to you!). Hopefully mine is sent down the Turnpike tonight in time to get on a truck tomorrow. Sounds like yours is certainly on for a tomorrow delivery though, enjoy!

 

Is this normal? I placed my order on July 29th and it's still in production. It says the estimate date is Aug 12th but it hasn't even shipped yet.

 

The specs might have something to do with it. The pre-built i7/4gb ram/250HD seems to get out of the factory much faster. If you ordered extra ram or the SSD, that could be causing a slowdown.

There may be a shortage of the soft touch black chasis, also. Best of luck man! I ordered 8/5, and I'm waiting with baited breath for it to be sent to testing.

I ordered mine as the prebuilt i7 upgrade as well on the 4th, and mine is still "In Production", and my estimated delivery is the 20th, what gives? I live in Ohio by the way.

 

Ordered the same on 8/7/2010 and have an EDD on 8/23/2010. Think it's fairly normal to expect 2-3 weeks.

I try to look on the bright side... the longer the production takes the better quality my laptop is (maybe they're adjusting my hinges ). It's probably not the case but at least it's a positive way of looking at it

I ordered on 7/29, my expected delivery date was today. Just got an email stating that it has been delayed to 8/16.

Edit: Just this moment 10:00am got an email that it shipped. Woohoo! I wonder what is up with the delivery status updates lately.

 

Dude! Same thing happened to me. Freaked me out. I started loading my assault rifle and talking to myself, then it changed to "shipped".

 

Wow, Arrived in ABQ at 7:26am and status already changed to "on vehicle for delivery".

The 10th it actually maybe. Now to sit here like a lemon all day for it to arrive.

 

I was supposed to get mine on the 9th, then delayed til the 12th, now I should get it next monday the 16th. I hope they keep delaying it because they are taking their time to build my hinges correctly...wishful thinking i know

Well if they somehow delay you again, could try complaining for an upgraded warranty or some other freebie stuff.

It just ocurred to me. The FedEX site states "On FedEx vehicle for delivery". Not that it's actually _out_ for delivery.

I can just envisage it's just sitting on a truck in a depot for another day!

EDIT - And less than 4 minutes later the box is in my hands!

It's finally here!!! I can hardly believe it!! After a bit more than a month, I'm using it now!!!!

 

Ohh man, I gotto say, spent almost 6 hours with this baby all day just installng/copying over data etc.

Left everything at stock and I'm mightily impressed. All the games I wanted on this to run, do splendidly.

I'm not even at a point where I want/need to overclock/tweak to get more FPS (that's not to say I won't be giving it go in due course).

I've been holding off for an ultra-portable gaming device and I'm so glad I did.

Yes the screen plate appears a millimetre raised on the right than it does on the left but the hinge mechanism works flushly, cleanly and in silence.

You guys waiting for a delivery are in for a real treat.

I would think that it would need to be picked up by a courier today for my Two Day shipping. I called Dell and they said that they have a production number and that it is still scheduled to get here before or on 8/12. My status still says "In Production." It has been "In Production" the day after I have ordered it and has not changed since. So I don't know if it will still get here on Thursday. Anyone know where they are made and ship from? I live in Texas and I know Dell is located in Austin. If they are coming from Austin I would imagine that it would only need one day to get here. I just hope Dell comes through or gives me some kind of update.

Got mine today as well, and really got no real work done after lunch!

I briefly broke it installing ubuntu (I had to remove the Dell Local Backup software, and didn't find it, and so went ahead and installed ubuntu. The problem is that it is an Alienware backup program instead, and that broke the GRUB bootloader), but now both operating systems work like a charm!

Most of my games are a bit old, but Half-Life 2 was running beautifully, I can finally play Team Fortress 2 (I have the Orange Box, but never had a machine that could handle TF2) and Civilization 4 (the most important to me) has been running flawlessly.

I am mightly impressed based on my casual observations so far!

 

Indeed, has has been mentioned previously on the forums. Just take care of the thing. Lift from the centre when opening it up and avoid needless movement/opening/closing etc.

 

Ahhhh I'm so confused!

My $1,122.43 payment has disappeared from my bank account, yet checking my order status says that my laptop is "In production"?

Ugh, this is starting to be a real headache. I ordered an M11x with 8 gigs of RAM, cancelled it, went with their promotional deal instead for about 100$ less.

Next day I wake up to find my bank account $1000 in the red (I'm going to college, don't need two M11x's). I called in to tell them to take off the first order, they did, and my second order was pending until today, and now it's gone

I realllly wish that when you cancelled an order, they would send you the same type of email that they send you when you place an order, i.e., "You have four hours to confirm or deny this cancellation. If no action is taken on your part, at the end of 4 hours the order will be erased."

Ugh...

Oh, no, my order has been DELAYED to Aug. 18, instead of Aug. 16!!
I ordered the stock $194 discounted configuration thinking I would get it FAST.
I'm annoyed, AND when I used a free shipping coupon on my order, it gave me free shipping but I was still charged $9 for "handling". Did this happen to anyone else? I thought that was weird. I've ordered 2 desktops and 2 laptops online from HP over the years and they were always totally free shipping AND handling.

But seriously, that spec is pretty much stock spec so it should be pretty fast i suppose...

Members of the m11X Brotherhood: After 4 emails and 2 phone calls, I finally received a researched and valid answer as to why my order was delayed. Dell Customer Service called me a few minutes ago after it took them 3 days to figure it out. They said the reason was because of a lack of Gobi cards. My order is on the truck for delivery, so I don't particularly care anymore, but thought this might help out other folks on here whose orders have been delayed.:wink:
