Well just received mine as well. I cannot open it yet due to having to run errands, but add me to the list!

 

My EDD was changed today from the 18th to the 17th. Hopefully it will arrive even sooner. Anyone know what the average time from the delivery preparation status to delivery is?

 

Ok well, I made my order yesterday for those who didn't see it 3 pages back. I have now gone 1 day since ordering and I am just realizing how damn long it will feel like to wait 2 weeks for this thing

 

Now my EDD has changed to 8/13 and I have yet to receive a tracking number... What do you guys think are the chances of me receiving it on Friday? Laptops coming to Michigan, I would imagine will be shipped from Nashville...
I'm debating on whether or not I should call Dell or not...

 

Yay, EDD went from 8/18/2010 to 8/17/2010, but is still says its in production, and its a 7 day delivery. Maybe they haven't updated that part O_O

long time lurker, first time poster.

I took the leap as well and ordered my m11x r2 on August 2nd.
Original EDD - August 18th
Updated EDD - August 13th
Updated EDD (2) - August 19th

Apparently my computer is already built but is waiting for other machines to be put together before shipping them all out. So I guess we are all on the same boat.

I ordered the "Most popular build" of the laptop

i7 processor
4GB RAM
BT
320GB hdd etc etc

just wanted to say best of luck to all of you getting your laptops as early as possible with no hinge problems!

I hoped they gave you free next business day shipping.

 

They did give me next business day which was good. I sold my old laptop (a mbp) to get this one. I really want to play SC2. I'm tired of running out of rooms when people talk about it! T_T

 

When I was talking to my sales rep on friday, he told me to wait until monday to make my order since he would be back then. I let my irritation be known and he threw out free next day business which made me happier about waiting.
I was looking over my invoice and saw that he forgot to give me both free next day business and to personalize my nameplate.
The nameplate I don't mind too much; it might help resale value eventually.
The shipping I am a bit peeved about though, should I contact my sales rep or should I talk to someone else about it?

 

This being my first Dell purchase I don't have to much experience dealing with their CS department. However if I were made to wait to order something and was promised Next day shipping for the wait, I would definitely call my sales rep about it, and if he doesn't help you sometimes Dell's CS department isn't to bad if you just tell them your situation nicely. The number I've been calling for the CS department is 1-800-433-9014. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

 

Thanks, I'm going to email him first as I am feeling particularly unconfrontational today. If that doesn't pan out I'll email my contact in customer care. Hopefully if they give me any flack about it I can mention how long it took them to refund my first order... My sales rep was always careful to never put anything in writing, he would offer me a quote and refuse to email it to me saying it was too low since this is a "high end alienware". I would have gotten a new rep had I not already spent hours getting my price down to something I could afford.

I ordered 7/30. Original EDD 8/12. Updated EDD 8/18. NEW!! EDD 8/16! My order status is now "Shipped!" Fedex has it in Nashville ; this is going to be the slowest weekend ever.

How do you go about getting the free next day shipping? I read but not exactly sure.

why some guys get DDR3 at 800MHz and others DDR3 at 1066MHz like me?

 

i would also like to know, mine has been in delivery prep for 3 days now

 

I believe different regions have different specs, although I'm pretty sure that all the ram gets underclocked to 800MHz regardless. At least that's what I've read.

Last report dated 2010-08-10, the package was in Copenhagen, Denmark. I really was hoping they would be able to further decrease the delivery time so I would have gotten it tomorrow, friday.

But I'm happy that I do not have to wait until the 26th as first stated.

It will still not be able to run at 1066Mhz because of the limitation from the ULV processors. I don't even think there are DDR3 dimms made as 800Mhz. I think they're just 1066Mhz dimms throttled by the system using ULV processors.

 

Mine's lucky it doesn't have a disc drive.

 

But you can oc the CPU to 1066 right?

 

So according to dells website this morning my laptop was still in production, you can imagine my surprise when my wife calls to tell me that it arrived via fedex at about 10 this morning!

Just getting into her now and really liking it so far! Build quality is sweet! Only complaints so far are the small screen (will take some getting used to, but worth it for the portability) and it seems to run kinda hot, but then again so does my other Alienware...

Does anyone know if the new command center needs to still be installed or do they pre-load it now? I would guess still needs it, and possibly the new nvidia driver...

I am a little peeved about my Dell order so I searched and found this forum...

Is this normal?:

Call from Dell: back ordered 8/23

I am probably going to call in the morning and let them know my frustrations and try to get free next day shipping...

 

I would definitely try for free overnight shipping at that point. My delay wasn't as bad as yours (or isn't yet I should say) and they gave me the shipping. I've been in order preparation a couple days now though, hoping it changes soon!

Yeah, I went back and found your first post.... I have the same build as you and a longer wait... wonder what is up, lol

 

Mine says 8/13 on the dell order status site but I haven't recived a tracking # yet...it does say that it got shipped 3 days ago, so hopefully it gets here on friday.

 

@aray21 - It could be that your computer is being put together at the moment. I believe Dell ships their computers out in batches, not individually. (at least that's what a CS rep told me)

@UnivHQ - Best of luck getting it tomorrow! I was originally supposed to get mine on Friday too. A lot of times Dell's order status doesn't update very quickly which makes tracking progress pretty difficult i must say.

 

I see... Well with my calculations my computer would have to be built by the 17th for it to get to me within the 5 - 7 day shipping schedule. So if I can get free overnight, I should have it by the 18th as opposed to the 23rd!

 

Go for it! let us know how it turns out.

 

C'mon! Ship already! They better hurry up now if they want to make the EDD

 

Called Dell yesterday to see if I could haggle some overnight shipping. Although they wouldn't go for overnight, they did set me up for 2nd day and he said they would "request that production be expedited" - which is probably just a line to keep the customer happy I'm sure.

 

No luck on getting next day shipping, still EDD on the 23rd... I am going to call back later, any tips on talking them into upgrading?

 

I got NO upgrade in the shipping method... what did you say? and what number did you call?

 

@aray21 - I called 1-800-433-9014 - You have to enter your order number - after this you can get to a sales rep.

I basically told them this - That I sold my previous laptop to purchase this one, I need a laptop for work and school, and by not having one and getting my order delayed it is putting me behind. (all of which is true btw -_- , yay lab computers) After all this, I asked if there was a way I could have my shipping arrangements changed (I was prepared to just eat the extra cost) and they gave it to me for free.

It may also depend on what Rep you are talking to , and whether or not they are having a good day.
