M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Wow, I just called Fed Ex and Dell. No one has any idea what is going on.

1) Call Fed Ex. They tell me that the package was not invoiced on Friday like Dell says and that it was just invoiced today. They went to pick it up but it was not provided by Dell.

2) Call Dell. Even though their site says shipped today with EDD tmr they tell me EDD is now 8/23 and it has been delayed. I ask for further details, he cannot give it to me. I remained very cool, calm and collected. He finally tells me to call Fed Ex. If it has been delayed, why would I need to call Fed Ex???

3) I wait an hour and call Dell again. This guy tells me it was shipped today and that Fed Ex is wrong. They have my package and I should expect it tmr. He tells me to call Fed Ex.

4) I call Fed Ex. I give them my package number again. Guess what? Never received it but they do have a record of going to pick it up this morning however it was never scanned/picked up.

So at this stage I have no idea where the package is.

**EDIT** Fed Ex called me back. Dell was supposed to ship mine out on Friday but they delayed it. On top of that, instead of shipping it 2nd day business they shipped it Fed Ex ground! So the package still has not been picked up but Fed Ex will likely make another attempt tonight. So if it can make it from IL > OH, get sorted and get on the truck in time there is still hope for a EDD of tmr, but the Fed Ex worker told me not to hold my breath. Dell kills me.

I think the amount that I check my shipment tracking might constitute borderline obsession

 

Status and tracking pages just went to the first query recommendation on Google chrome when I type just "m" "s" "t".

BTW, I just saw in some forum they were talking about SHIPPING DELL-AYS, HAHAHAHAHAH

 

So i have been reading some of the recent issues everyones been having and have realized i am not the only one. So after contacting both Fedex and Dell, Dell claims that the products have been shipped and is with Fedex and that their information is not updated on their website, which is probably why we all have not been seeing the transition from "initiated" to "in transit". And I am probably guessing that my shipment was barely picked up and was informed that i should wait 24-48hrs to call dell back if the package is not delivered on time or if the website is not updated.

I hope this helps anyone who is not sure where there package is or who is holding it. More than likely fedex has it if its already been shipped for awhile.

@theguywithaplan - that is exactly what I was going to post as well, I got the same exact information out of Dell and fedex earlier. So hopefully our laptops are on the way.

 

Thanks for the info. Mine was ordered the same day and has the same EDD as you. It just seems to me that if Fed Ex has the packages they would be the ones with the best info about where they are.

Update: my comps 2hrs away I guess Dell was right about Fedex there information on the website isn't updated till later. What a stressful week :confused2:

**EDIT** Called back in to Dell. Now I have yet another new story. Now Im being told it is delayed until 8/23. How can a company have so many inconsistencies??? And complaining on the phone does nothing because no matter what I say they just sit there and read off their script.

**EDIT 2** After being on hold for 10 minutes the rep came back on and told me that they were getting ready to hand the package over and the EDD is 8/23. I asked him how if I have 2nd day business it would take until 8/23. Then he told me it would be here by 8/18. I asked him why there was a delay in shipping and why all the inconsistencies/why their site shows EDD 8/17. Then he told me it would be here before 8/23 and thats all he could tell me. I work in IT for a living and am on the phone with internal employees and external customers all day long - I know things happen but Ive never heard such a ridiculous load of BS in my life.

Honestly, its not the wait that matters. I am working from home tmr so I will be here when the package arrives. It requires a sig and we live in a bad area so signing a slip and sticking it to the door that they can leave the package isnt a good idea. Im so aggrivated I could scream.

 

ESD: 8/18 but stuck on initiated on FedEx since Friday. This is killing me!

 

If this really is just fedex's lack of frequent updates, then I much prefer ups...
Fedex is saying that they expect to ship to me on wednesday but my package is still sitting in ellenwood georgia. i ordered on 8/10 like some of you others but i dont get my package until 8/18

 

Ordered on 8/2 and still stuck on shipping information sent from the 11th. Hoping it comes tomorrow or at least updates.

 

Well finally an update on the fedex side. The package is in Chicago with an EDD of 8/18 and not 8/17.

Now I hope my work will let me switch days so I can leave early on weds instead of tmr. What a PITA.

Still can't get over how much Dell doesn't have their act together.

 

@gares I just got off the phone with fedex , my laptop is coming on the 19th now, Dell simply didn't give me one business day shipping as promised. So I feel ya on the waiting thing and now I too have to switch my day off to be there when it arrives

 

I have the next 2 days off and I have a creeping suspicion my m11x will get here 3 days from now

 

oh man these issues are absurd. I hope this doesn't happen to me! I ordered my m11x two nights ago. Are any of you guys in Canada? I wonder if these shipping problems are frequent no matter where you are. Any Canadians out there with stories about the shipment (be they good ones or bad)?

 

im getting my laptop tomorrow with my estimated ship date being 8/17. Can't wait to see my brand new alienware m11x with i7 processor.

 

My package has been sitting in indianapolis since about 11:45 last night and doesn't look like its moved at all. So fedex def doesn't appear to be rushing to get the package to me. Altho if they were given a package with 2nd day business mon night instead of fri afternoon like Dell said they would be... Can't really blame fedex.

To some of the posts above, after going back through parts of this thread it seems pretty common that Dell has issues with orders/EDDs/accuracy in general.

 

Mine is still sitting in Ellenwood, GA since about 3:27pm yesterday without moving.

 

OMG, finally FEDEX status changed to intransit, EDD still 17/08. I think I can make it today, because now is in NewCastle 15 away from here!!! .

My service type on FEDEX is FedEx Home Delivery-Indirect Signature Required, Does someone else have the same service type?

 

Mine is the same even though its going to a business.

 

I have fedex home as well. Mine should be coming in on Thursday this week. So much for next business day lol

 

Mine is out for delivery in TX and I am in WA

My wife is home and she'll sign for it and I'll get to see it Friday morning around 1am when I return home from my biz trip

but it left calgary yesterday. it doesn't take two days for it to get to BC. hmm...

 

well I got mine at work today.. not bad.. 11 days of wait time.. almost forgot I ordered it.. its a nice little machine..

 

Laptop finally shipped , but it's still sitting in City of industry, CA. Anyone know how often this is supposed to get updated?

 

Mine was ordered 8/10, shipped 8/15, Fedex says delivery date is today, Dell says EDD is tomorrow. It also came out of City of Industry, CA but now says it is in transit from Sun City, CA. The suspense is killing me!

 

Guess where I'm posting from..... WIIIIPPIIIII, I made it, I felt in love several times for this machine. OMG its so nice, 16 days of waiting, Ordered 01/08, EDD 16/08, EDD (updated) 23/08, EDD (updated) 17/08. Delivery TODAY 17/08, via 7 days shipp.

08/18 EDD is the Day!

 

Finally got mine and it looks beautiful, but it is slow as molasses at doing anything - compared to my desktop or my Asus EEE PC.
Right now I am backing up the hard drive using Acronis and it says it is going to take 1 hour and 20 minutes to backup like the 30 GBS on the 2 partitions....what????
My Asus and desktop take just a few minutes to backup up so this is weird.
Well, everything looks fine and I am happy to get it FINALLY.

Well mine showed up today. Much quicker than expected. But of course I am on a business trip till the 26th! How's that for a tease!

 

In the same boat (well not as bad your boat). Mine shipped on Monday and I left TX to go on Biz Trip. Mine arrived today and I'll be home on Friday around 1am. Might be an all nighter. Be a kid with a new toy.

 

There is not doubt NOW, on the top of the box there is big sign, It says MADE IN CHINA, for those who think Alienware is still made in the US.

 

Lol maybe this is the reason for the hinge and quality problems, but how they make and deliver a laptop from China in 1 week? I think it is only mounted in US and made in China.

 

Well surely the parts were never all made in the us but just assembled here I'd think...

Even Apple's products (at least the iPhones) are made in China and they're suppose have a certain "quality stamp" as well. Numerous people claim them to be made in California. Everything is made in China these days, live with it.

So mine is out for delivery but not from my local fedex facility. I just saw a fedex truck stop at my neighbours . I'm wondering how late I'll get it considering the facility the truck left from (west palm beach) is an hour away from here. :?

I'm currently camped out at the window, watching all the cars that go down my street like a drug fiend waiting for his fix lol

 

I just got a call from Fedex telling me I could put a note on the door saying it was okay for them to leave it if I wasn't going to be home in 45 minutes. Now I really want to fall ill or get injured so I don't have to go to work, but alas, this M11x isn't going to pay for itself.
