M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Arrrg!! I really can't wait untill i get mine
Doesn't help i was waiting a week for a cheque to clear in order to order it. THAT'S A WHOLE EXTRA WEEK OF ANTICIPATION!!!

Anywho, it's now "In Production" with the EDD still at 3/12.
Don't see why i couldn't get it a bit earlier lol but i am sure as heck not wanting it to be delayed
Fingers crossed.

Great, just found out it was delayed to Dec 3rd...calling customer service now. Dell has sat on it for 2 days already, this is ridiculous.

 

Well I just got my Orion Portfolio case Im very pleased with the shipping, last night it was shipped from Dell, and today I got it, and I had the 7 day shipping, so 6 days early

 

Ordered my m11x r2 i7 w/ 4g ram + 256 ssd on the 15th and it got here today
the original EDD was 12/1 but within 3 days it updated to 11/23

 

Mine just changed to ship
But, the link to the tracking bit doesn't work

 

My tracking didn't work either for a good few days ... it was giving me tracking for someones order in August ... after a few days I could change the dates and it sorted its self out.
So basically you should just give it a little while ... congratulations though you should have it by Friday if it shipped today!

 

Yeah i just checked again and it's changed the carrier company
UPS now says "Billing Information Received" and to check back periodicaly.
Although i don't think they mean every 5 minutes like i am doing at the moment

Really can't wait to get my hands on it

Edit: Just checked and my delivery date has been brought forward to the 29th

Which means i'm going to have to get that day off work instead...

Edit 2: Just got an email saying that it's going to be delivered on Friday now

Now scan the internet and get an SSD in the black friday sales ... that is what I am doing haha!

 

UPS site now states "PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE " and that it means it could effect my delivery date anyone have anything like this before?

Also been tracking my laptops journey. Starting in China, to Korea (somehow making it out in one piece), to Kazhakstan and now in Germany waiting for clearence poor thing will be knackered by time it gets into me mits.

Edit: Whent all the way back to Almaty and then back to Germany. But is apparently in-transit for delivery. Also got an email from someone at UPS saying that it's still on target for tomorrow's delivery. Am just hoping that it arrives after i get back from work... Which will be around 2ish, otherwise i'll have to wait until Monday and the weekend will just drag...

 

china > korea > khazakstan > germany > poland ..... ? why not just china to uk? gawd... i wont get mine till after i come home from work at 6pm, but then im going out for a meal so i cant play with it either ... :S

Mine landed at Standstead at half 5 this morning and is now out for delivery from Crawley. The UPS depot is literally across from where i work... Might as well have picked it up myself. Just hope it gets to mine after half 2ish otherwise there'll be no one in for it

 

Well that's annoying. UPS came 15 minutes before i got home, i actually passed the van... The thing is, i put a note saying that someone else in the flat will be in and they'd sign for it for me... But nope, the person obviously only tried mine and then left the note behind saying i missed him...

Now for a long weekend...

Mine says Shipped!

Its In GA right now and says It will be here by the 30th ;D but my case came from the same place and got here the next day, so my fingers are crossed for tomorrow.

 

How long from when you order it does it take to arrive in your hands if you're ordering from Canada?

 

I placed my order last Sunday evening, and I was sent a shipped notification earlier today at 1:34 PM. On my account page the order status reads 'Delivery Preparation.' Is my laptop being shipped from their overseas factory right now, or is it already at their Canadian offices?

 

Asia > Texas > Ontario ...2 business days to get to Ontario via Purolator.

...at least that was the order for my Studio 17 in early 2010

 

Just ordered mine on 11/26/10, currently in production. I was wondering, would it help if I called them to make sure that they didn't build my m11x with cruddy defective hinges or would it not make any sort of difference at all?

Someone was just discussing this in another thread. At the end of the day it certainly can't hurt, but realistically they are likely to tell you whatever you want to hear and still do nothing about it.

 

My order status page has a Purolator tracking number. The laptop was handed to them on the 26th at 8:02 PM in the US. Somehow I don't believe they assembled the laptop and got it shipped overseas from Asia within the space of 5 days.

Does anyone know if they assemble some of the Alienware laptops in the US? If so, why couldn't they offer the laser engraving as well if it was there :/

Mine took 5 days too, and now is scheduled for arrival tomorrow. Plus mine was made in the US.

 

Ordered mine last night, processed the payment this morning and status is now "Production" EDD 12/10/2010 hopefully get it before then, I have it being shipped to my job so I can have my hands on it earlier than waiting to go home (could help out with some IT work I do around here haha)

omg guys, i ordered my alienware binder case yesterday and they already shipped it, gave me the tracking number lol, that was fast.

 

just ordered my R1 today for $595.12 after taxes, (I HATE WASHINGTON) says it will be here on the 13th. got the free shipping on it! going to buy a bigger hard drive and more RAM for it in the meantime, any advice on what to get for it? Im thinking on getting some gskill 4GB kit for the ram, and a 500GB hard drive but I dont know if i should get the 7200rpm or 5400rpm on that... anyways im excited that i got it for cheap and its on the way

 

A few people on here have had a great deal of success with the Seagate Maximus XT hybrid drive - seems the M11x is one of the few notebooks that it plays well with. I ordered mine from new egg for 99

Hmmm, I ordered on the 26th and just received an email saying EDD has moved from the 10th Dec to 1st Dec. UPS tracking shows as it as awaiting release from Shanghai. Can it even get to the my door in the UK that fast?

 

Does it not get sent to the Dell HQ in the states first? Ohh maybe its different in the UK?

 

do the dates usually get moved up?

 

Should be in my case. I did not really customize any major entities in my m11x, it was a premium "premade" offer.

Speaking of which, my laptop was last seen in the Toronto sorting center 12 hours ago. It should be here today, 6 days earlier than predicted by Dell.

Im not so sure about that hard drive I dont know if I want 7200RPM (batterylife)

 

OK guys, i am kinda confused here...

I purchased my M11x r2 - i7 from the Dell Canada website, yet it only gave me an option for only the lunar shadow color whereas when i checked on the US and Euro sites, Dell gave two choices to the buyers, the stealth black and lunar shadow, so why was i limited to one color?

I have mine in my hands right now!!! About to unbox it! Im so excited.

 

I ordered mine on the 26th and still have a deliver date of Dec 10. In the meantime I ordered a hard drive and memory upgrade from Newegg, which has already arrived (they ship from like 10 miles away from me - lucky me).

I picked up the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 5400 RPM 640GB for 49.99, only after ordering the Samsung Spinpoint MT2 1 TB drive and reading that it's too big to fit into the M11x.

I also picked up a Kingston 4GB DDR3 module from Newegg for $53.99, which is a decent price.

While I was on my shopping spree I also nabbed the MobileEdge black Alienware portfolio ( Newegg.com - Suggested Products.

Now I just have to wait for Dell so I can install it all!

 

I don't know I wouldn't get it used though, because of the hinge defects going around after 1 year use. But I can't wait to get mine, days have been lasting longer and longer as the day comes closer I hate this lol

Woo Hoo. Ordered on the 26th and status just updated to "Delivery Preperation" My scheduled delivery date is still 12/10, but I'm hoping that moves up quickly

 

Lol, i am stuck with lunar shadow, i kinda like black over it.

Funny, i didnt have a choice!

 

I went with the black, but the plus side of the lunar sadow is that any scratches won't show up as badly. In my experience with aluminum painted black, those hairline scratches tend to show up a lot more then if it wasn't painted at all.

 

Well, I ordered mine on the 26th and was starting to get frustrated that it's been flagged on the status page since 4 hours after I placed the order as "In Production". I called Dell, spoke to someone for whom English is a handy paycheck (as opposed to a first language), and gave up.

I then did some digging around. Here's a number for Alienware (Not Dell - Alienware!) 800 254 3692.

Be aware that if you call that number and enter your order number you do get redirected back into Dell, but the automated system that gives you information is a little different and provides a little more detail. For my system, for example, it's apparently in the boxing stage. More useful of course is the ability to press "1" after dialing the above number to talk to one of the brave souls that work in Alienware (the company owned by Dell) and for whom English is so much more than just a paycheck.

Well this is just getting annoying. I know I haven't had any delays (yet), and I know this is how things work now that Dell's in charge, but damn it's annoying. The machine is built and has been in "boxing" stage all damn day. They even explain that boxing is the stage where the machine, manuals etc are put in a box before being put on a truck and shipped out. Then the message says "based on the current status the estimated ship date is December 7th". Really?!? It's in the phase someone sticks it in a box and puts it on a truck and it's going to take 6 days to do that?

I know, I know, I'm ranting. I've been through this before - this is my 4th Alienware over the years. I just pine for the good old days when even though it would take 4 weeks to get the machine you could actually pick up the phone and speak with the actual guy putting the machine together. Hell I even remember them calling me once to clarify some settings on my first Alienware tower.

The thing that galls me most is that it's just sillyness. It's an Alienware. M11x aside, we pay a premium for these machines. I'm happy for some of that premium to go towards it being built in the country it ships to. I really can't stand this "based on current status it will ship in a week" crap, when really the message needs to say "based on our decision to have it manufactured by the cheapest hourly paid workforce on the planet, it's going to take a long while to get to you, even though it's ready to go right now - sorry!"

I ordered on 28th lol, which means i will probably have to wait longer than you! I feel your pain friend for waiting that long, but on the contrary, i am pretty happy that i received the m11x portfolio case yesterday! SO even though i dont have the laptop yet, i can't stop staring at the case! lol Alienware products are always sexy looking.
