M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Hi. Great Forum. Not much to contribute yet, but... Stock Core 2 $599 / Order Date 2-16-2011 / 7 Day / EDD 3-2-2011 / In Production / Not shipped

 

I ordered on Feb 19th, EDD March 7th. Web site says it is in production. My PayPal has not been charged yet. When I call to check my status I am told it shipped on March 2nd? Got the i5, 8gb ram, and 320gb 7200rpm hd

 

Dell's order status system and whole shipping system in general is a joke. I dont understand how someone with the same specs as my laptop can order 3 days after I ordered mine and receive their laptop a day before my EDD, when my laptop clearly wasnt even shipped out today. I call for assistance and am told first it really was shipped out and then when I ask for a tracking number am told "oh actually it hasnt been shipped yet.. whoops!"

I love the brand and the quality of the laptop however this shipping garbage is driving me nuts!

 

@Diablos991 thats cheap for an R2 and with those specs?? how did you get it at that price? is it a refurb?

There was an EPP deal going.

I agree that Dell's tracking system is useless. I even called up and got a rep assigned to let me know when my order was about to ship... I got a call from him today letting me know that it arrived yesterday. Lol
I don't think the reps are even informed about the true status.

It may be available still. Go to slickdeals.net and search up m11x. The directions are in there.

 

I don't think it is, I went through Dealzon and then called in my own EPP and currently on Dealzon it's showing $849 for the i5. It'll definitely come back around... I wouldn't worry too much just be patient. I missed the deal in January and then less than 2 weeks later it was back up again. I think Dell, HP, Lenovo just know that some people will pay full price for a computer no matter what.


Good news! Mine just shipped today! And yes I had asked to be notified on the phone when I asked about EPP and change my shipping method. No phone call! Today though when I looked online the status had changed to shipped! Let's see if it's actually here before the weekend! That would be sooo awesome.

 

Dell now indicates Shipped. Fedex receives shipping info 2-21 / Arrived at FedEx location on 2-23 / EDD 2-24. FYI FedEx has main Hub is local to me.

 

That's insanely fast, considering you ordered it on 16th and have 7 day shipping . Hope mine is the same way!

 

OMG.. Checked Status again .. both Dell / FedEx now agree winks.. ToDay Is the day.. too bad its only 3.30 AM.. oh should i sleep??? will i hear the Door BELL?

 

Thinks its mostly. Im 10 miles to airport .. they ship them selves to your regional Fedex.. IE they could claim still in productions for weeks .. then all of a sudden its on your doorstep with an immediate .. SHIPPED listed on Dell site. IE .. looks like it shipped in two days when really it was their truck taking the whole time to get it to your regional Fedex branch.....

OR im that special and the world does revolve around me .. just joking... cant wait .. is here in guessing 6 hours..

 

You're lucky ~ I ordered on the 14th, with an ED of the 24th (today). Received a delay notice THIS morning for 3/7/11. Outrageous. I am leaving for a trip tomorrow.

 

I had called Dell and asked them to speed up my build. Basically I asked for faster shipping speed. The guy on the phone was soo nice I thought he was just giving me the song and dance. Turns out they actually did change the shipping method and shipped it early!

As of right now it's just one state away from me. I'll be watching FedEx today to see when it'll arrive. Right now I can't imagine it slipping past the weekend. Hope so, it's always nice to get new toys over the weekend. We are having a "snow" day here right now. For Oregon, that means about 1/4 of an inch on the ground and everything shuts down. (lol)

 

@Tekshow; Did they charge you for the increased shipping speed?

Checked my order status again by calling into the Alienware line. I was excited when the system said it had some important information for me only to be let down. My order is still being prepared.

Hopefully the order doesn't get held up. Tomorrow is when it is supposed to ship and it should be here on the 2nd.

 

I also used a similar tactic. I called in to tell them I needed it faster and the representative said he would do what he can. They basically gave me NBD shipping for free.

Aw MAN. and im sure you orded this for your trip. At least you have your Asus G7 as backup.. What version M11x did you order .. mine was R1.

No they didn't! That's why I thought they were just patronizing me on the phone. Turns out they really did help. A few days early is nice

 

Was yours an R2. Just curious if anyone else is receiving delays. I was thinking with these past couple of sales on the R2's that dell would have an issue supplying them.

 

Apparently my order is about to be shipped and they are giving me my carrier information tomorrow no luck there. Thanks though. Good advice.

 

Ordered my M11x R2 on 2/18/2011 for $699 and called today to check the status and it is getting ready to ship . No delays (according to the rep I talked to...will double check the status on Monday)

I ordered on the 12th and mine just arrived! This thing is great looking! I'm not even sure what to test out, lol. I could have sworn I requested my name on the bottom thing, but it didn't end up engraved. No biggy. I had not seen one in person before my purchase, but I'm absolutely satisfied with the size. Odd that they couldn't find a bigger screen. Seems like a lot of room wasted, but still great.

Man, Dell is really worried about how I am treated it seems. I've received 3 calls from the rep that helped me and 1 call from his supervisor. They all want me to take a survey as well. Regardless, they made me happy and went above and beyond getting my laptop to me. So FAR, my experience with Dell (more specifically, Alienware) has been nothing but positive.

 

Mine ordered on 14th and will arrive on 26th. Wondering if we are making the right decision to purchase R2 at this time as from other threads, m11x r3 is just around the corner

 

If the R3 comes out anywhere near the price I paid for this R2 ($636 with i5, 8GB ram, and 320GB hd), then I might be ticked, but otherwise, no need to regret the purchase. This sucker is very slick!

 

I agree...my order is for the same config/price (placed 2-18) and it would take a hell of a R3 to make me regret my purchase. It just needs to get here already! I'm kind of bummed that ordering today results in the same arrival date (3/7) as I was given.

Mine is still shown as In Production...but I'm upgrading from a late '06 XPS M1210 so I guess I can wait a bit longer...

 

Make sure you call Alienware and speak to a human being if you want an actual update on the machine. Otherwise it will still show as "In Production" on the website. I ordered the same day you did, same config, and called today, it's getting ready to be shipped .

 

"Got my "Box in a box" 8 days sooner than EDD of march 2nd. Stock R1 and 7 day shipping was ordered late on the 2/16 it shipped on 21st arrived on the 24th. Yalls too will be there soon .. hopefully way sooner the EDD as me..

 

Just curious if I mashed 0 constantly if it would bring me to an actual Alienware rep or just to the farmed out Dell rep. They are supposed to call me in the next 30 minutes with a status update. Here is hoping.

Should be the fastest CPU for this machine for the moment ?

 

Yeah that is an R2 and I believe is the fastest CPU available for it at the moment. The R1 has a Core 2 Duo or Pentium processor.

 

Ordered Tuesday morning 2/22 and it was here friday 2/25. I didnt pay for second day shipping, just the free 5-7 day shipping. Of course I ordered a certified refurbed m11x. I was pleasantly surprised how long it took to get here

 

As an update - My ED date was 2/24/11 (yesterday). I received a delay notification that day about the ED being changed to mid March. I got on the phone, and a few complaints about the unreasonability of the situation, and Dell agreed to ship it that day.

Given that, I have received the machine today. It is only 1 day late, though I had to invest considerable time (making my day very frustrating) to make sure it was only 1 day late.

 

Ordered 2/18. i5, 8 GB RAM and 320GB HDD. Original EDD was 3/7. Called them today to see if they had any additional information and they offered up a shipping upgrade with little prompting. New EDD is 3/3. So if that turns out to be true at least I won't have to 'suffer' through another weekend without it.

I went through the automated status line and then asked to speak to a rep. They picked up the phone quickly. Wasn't a PITA at all.

 

Feels like I'm over updating but I should be getting an update from a manager soon enough. I reached out via Twitter. Let's see where the power of the internet gets me!

@DellCares if anyone was wondering.

Update: Rep said it should ship within 1 - 2 working days. Going to see if it will make the EDD of 3/2.

 

I ordered the exact same day and system, and same EDD. Was your Alienware in the "preparing to be shipped phase?". I tried calling to get my shipping upgraded but the rep wouldn't do it :/.

 

Says In Production online...they didn't offer any additional status info over the phone.

 

Just got mine shipped!!! i called dell earlier and they told me that my EDD was changed from 3-8 to 3-3 but i just check the tracking info.. its says that my package is in "CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA" and i live in Fontana CA.. so i'm guessing i'm gonna receive it soon

try calling dell again but be sure to talk to an actual person (be sure to have your Order Number ready).. they can tell you the actual status of your order... mine said that it was still in production but when i called them, they told me that it had already shipped told me that my EDD was
3-3.. I also asked them if i could receive it earlier than that.. hours later i got the tracking number and it said that i should receive my package by tomorrow

Wow it seems that they had upgraded shipping to NBD for free

called dell last night (25th), was told that system is still 'in production', checked the website as well. (original EDD was March 5th).
so I went on to my doc's appointment this morning (26th), came back home around 1100 est. found the fedex note on my door.

thought it was for something else, so i checked online, found the dell delivery notice email. sent on 26th early morning, saying it was shipped out on 25th evening. (yet, I ordered 5-7 days shipping)...

called fedex, they will not redeliver to the same address in one day (driver will not repeat the same route...and other strange excuses)

yikes...now I will have to wait, next attempt is on tue, IDK why they won't try it again on monday.

At least it will arrive before the EDD right?

Ordered on 2/18/11, still waiting for mine to be shipped...EDD of March 7th...ugh.

 

Call Fed Ex...ask them to 'hold for pick up' and they'll tell you what address to go to. Go pick it up on Monday.

 

Anyone order around the 21st and get theirs yet?

Ordered on the 19th, shipped on the 25th, delivered today. I was lucky someone was home to sign for it. My order status never changed from "In Production".
