Anyone know if it's possible to get a detailed status update on the weekend? Called yesterday and got transferred to a recording saying they were closed I ordered my R1 on the 17th with the free 7 day shipping. EDD is 3/4. A rep on the dell chat said it was in transit to the shipping carrier yesterday morning, though. They wouldn't give me any extra info.

 

The 'problem' with Dell deliveries appears to be a lack of warning when for what is a signature required delivery. I would just make sure to check your email often because you may not get much warning before it shows up on your doorstep. If it's been sent to the freight carrier you won't have a tracking number until the night before it's delivered at best. Yes it's annoying.

 

Yep, I had 1 day between the call saying it was shipped, and when the carrier was at my door. Thankfully it was a Saturday and I was home to sign for it

 

I have an order date of 2/24/11 and I got one day shipping, really hoping they don't deliver on Saturday since I am having it shipped to work. Says estimated delivery is the 8th of March. Right after Pokemon! (yeah a 24 year old still plays pokemon) Least I'll have something to tide me over!

Update: I just called automated system and it says it's "being processed"

 

My order still says IP on the website. I just called the automated status line and was told that it shipped on March 2nd. Neat trick there...time travel and all. But hey at least it it's not held up due to a parts backlog. I assume the odd shipping date is due to their use of freight forwarders etc. My order was placed on 2-18...hopefully that means everyone from around that date will start to see their orders move. i5, 8GB, Bluetooth, Custom nameplate and 320GB HDD.

 

Glad to hear, ordered 2/18 aswell. Going to call tomorrow and try and get an update/get my shipping upgraded...I'm not the most patient person so waiting is killing me .

Does anyone know a number I can call besides 1-800-Alienware to check my order status?

First time I called the call was disconnected, maybe my cell phones problem, maybe not. Second time I called I was trying to give the women my order number and there were two people in the background shouting and she couldn't hear me. Third time before I could even ask a question I was told that it was on the way to the carrier and then was told goodbye. Should I just keep trying that number and hope I get someone decent? :/

 

1-800-433-9014. If you call from the number on record for the order it will pull up your info automatically. If not have your order # handy, After the automated update you'll have the option to speak to a rep.

cannot understand how everyone got theres in 8-9 days and they opted for 7 day shipping! ugggh!

 

Could be because it's actually 3-5 day shipping at checkout but Dell lists it as "7 Day shipping"

 

Don't worry, My order date was 20 and even I'm waiting. It should ship within a day or two.

More useful info. I was able to determine my FedEx tracking number prior to Dell providing it. Will probably only work if your system is already at the freight forwarder (I'd say this would be when the automated line I gave above says it has shipped...usually with an absurd date it seems). Go to:

My system was ordered on the 18th and it looks like it should be out for delivery tomorrow, but according to the tracking FedEx doesn't have it yet.

 

That trick actually does work...All it says is that they have my shipping information though.


My m11x has been in the "delivery preparation" stage for almost 4 days now. Is this usual?

Ordered Saturday evening online. Estimated delivery 14/03/2011.

Already showing as shipped, and through the courier tracking is showing it has left China and arrived in Germany since this AM. Hopefully have it by the end of the week (in the UK), so should take less than a week.

 

Not sure. I suppose it depends on where you live. If you have a tracking number from Fed Ex I assume 'delivery prep' actually means something else...mine was never in that status from what I can tell. In my experience freight forwarding can get a bit ugly...if nothing is going 'in your packages direction' it may take awhile before it will start moving. But hopefully Dell pushes enough through the system that this is less of an issue. Fed Ex Smart Post through Amazon always seemed to be worse.

Certainly looks like Dell goes through a lot of odd procedures to lower shipping costs but I guess that is to be expected with how much volume they do. At this point I'd just watch the Fed EX page...I think it's going to be the most accurate way to determine when your system will arrive. And at least Dell doesn't invoice an charge you until all this freight forwarding junk is over.

Have you tried calling and speaking with a rep to make sure it's not delayed? If it isn't I'd expect at your door on the 3rd hopefully . GL!

 

My m11x has been "preparing to ship." for 3 days now. this is ridiculous. The fedex information was sent to carrier on Monday and it still hasn't been shipped yet.

 

the same thing basically happened with mine. the status on dell's website didn't update until the day it was out for delivery.

it's not ridiculous; it's just Dell's awful status updates. have you called and spoken to a CSR directly? they always have more info than what's on the website.

 

paying extra for overnight shipping from Dell is just dumb. it'd be one thing if they had your system on a shelf in a warehouse and they knew that was the case before you chose your shipping option, but as it is, no one really knows how long it will take to build/test/prepare for ship.

i chose free shipping and it ended up being 2 day shipping from NJ.

 

Going to try today. How do I talk to a person? Every number I call is an automated system that just tells me is is in production or preparing to ship depending on what number i call.

 

I'm starting to get fairly irritated at this whole process. Website says 'not shipped'. Automated status line says shipped. I believe I have what is my tracking number from Fed Ex (not that Dell provided it) and it says 'Ground' when my order says 'next day' (which CAN be one and the same but usually isn't). So which is it? I guess I'll find out when their call center opens in 15 minutes...or not. Those guys haven't been much help and have already failed to meet a commitment once.

 

LOL. Just got off the phone. all they could tell me was my estimated delivery date. they said they assigned my order to a special follow up team will will investigate. My guess is they are just blowing me off...

Just to show how unreliable their statuses are... but HOW RELIABLE their actual process is.

 

I pestered dell quite a bit and it got me nowhere. Mine is on the truck to be delivered today, two days early. However, there never seemed to be the risk that it was running behind. Unless you sense problems id save yourself the time and not bother calling.

 

Called Dell, Possible Back Order/DELAY on order. No M11x for me tomorrow! So pissed! Stupid Lunar Shadow color!

Well it is supposed to be delivered on Friday. I looked up the fedex tracking number using the trick in this thread and for the past 3 days it says billing information recieved but FEDEX still has no updates. It doesn't appear that they recieved the laptop for shipment.

 

This is getting ridiculous. My status has been "delivery preparation" for almost 5 days now. When I call, it says it was shipped yesterday.

Fedex has a tracking number, but they havent gotten the package yet. My EDD is coming fast..

 

My EDD is the 4th, purchased on the 21. They took the hold off my debit card after only a few days. They havent charged me yet and it still shows in producion on the website. Do they charge you when it ships or what?

 

TRY2CATCHMIKE and BERKO1SE I ordered on the 21st and I am having the same problems as you. EDD is the 4th. Supposedly shipped monday but fedex tracking number is still showing as only billing information recieved.

I have a feeling a bunch of us are going to get hit with backorders or something.

I can see Dell's site not updating order status but FEDEX.COM tracking number shows only as billing information recieved. They most definately did not ship my laptop yet and they won't help me over the phone.

 

So I did this, and it worked! Except on FedEx..it says they received the shipping information 3/1/11, the ship date is today 3/2/11, and the estimated delivery day is tomorrow 3/3/11!!

Is there any validity to what FedEx says?

 

I cant see anything when I try to use the fedex tracker and I have not been charged by Dell so it leads me to believe that it hasent shipped yet. You ordered yours on the 26th and are already getting it?

 

I called a rep last night and I think he was reading the website. Told me exactly the same information. He told me that they would call on monday the 7th to follow up, sounds like they were just trying to get rid of me.

I just got some good and bad news...good news is that Fed Ex now has my package. Bad news is that Dell said they upgraded me to overnight shipping....and it's not going to be here until Friday according to Fed Ex. Sounds like 2 days to me.
