M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Lucky! Still no update on mine....

 

Dell says the delivery will be 3/4/2011 but FedEx says 3/3/2011....should I trust FedEx? Need to make sure to be/or have someone at home to recieve the package >_<.

 

Told you!! Too bad i'm in Canada, mine is on it way from US to Canada sorting facility. Hopefully I will get it before the weekend, or else its going to be an awfully long weekend.

What carrier is it shipped with? I'm in Canada too, so I'm wondering how they ship systems.

 

No idea at this point. I finally got a call back from customer service. They say my order is 'in the final stages' and should arrive within 24-48 hours of shipping from Dell. Which seems a bit odd since they confirmed that I have overnight shipping so why would it take 48 hours?

When I confronted them with the Fed Ex tracking number I found on my own they didn't have an answer for it. I'm sorry but I think my info is pretty good...I doubt very seriously that some package is being shipped to my zip code right around when I'm expecting mine that just happens to have a 10ish digit order number that just happens to match my Dell order. Saying it's not accurate is just absurd.

Which unfortunately leaves us with Dell customer care having no visibility to what happens logistically which is reasonably disturbing.

To re-cap:

On Monday I called the automated status line...it said my order had SHIPPED (past tense) on March 2nd (two days in the future). Customer service couldn't find a tracking number to give me. Website still said 'In Production'.

Yesterday I decided to do some investigation on the Fed Ex website...found a tracking number referencing my order...'electronic info received' on 2/28. The same date (Monday) that the automated status line started giving me the 'shipped in the future message'. Not a conspiracy guy but a betting man would say that the build was finished on the 28th and the laptop was on the way to Fed Ex.

Late this afternoon Fed Ex indicates they have the package...Dell automated line says 'shipped today'...website still says 'In Production'. Fed Ex says delivery Friday...so I'm not getting 'next day shipping'.

At this point I think Dell is using something like Fed Ex Smart Post...freight forwarding....and they are manipulating the invoice date and what customer service sees so it looks like you're getting upgraded shipping rather than the 'slow boat' they are actually using. Maybe it a recent change in policy and that's why their systems don't all line up.

At this point I'm done. I got a good price, will hopefully get a good system, and hopefully within the next 24 hours my info will start to match theirs so I know what day to stay home and sign for it. This will be my third Dell laptop in a row...I'm a fan of theirs...but I wish they made it easier to track this stuff without all the shenanigans. Unfortunately EVERYONE is moving to these cheapo shipping methods where items can be in untraceable limbo for multiple days.

 

Thanks for the post AMartin, looks like I'll be camping out tomorrow at my desk with way too many cups of coffee waiting for this thing to arrive. I got a good price as well and hopefully a good system. (I worry about it being shipped around and getting mangled in the back of a FedEx truck...)

 

mine is finally here this morning. I missed the first attempt past Sat, then somehow fedex massed up my next shipping attempt date to this coming sat, so I wasted all yesterday morning waiting for it. arrrg
called them late afternoon yesterday, sorted out the problem,

so here it is, typing on it =D

 

I would say trust Fed Ex ONLY if they have physically scanned it and try to see if it's out for delivery before you stay home. Usually it will be marked as such pretty early in the morning on the day of delivery.

'Electronic info received' would be the same as me printing a USPS mailing label on paypal and then sitting on the package for 10 days. Doesn't mean anything until they actually scan it.

 

Just checked FedEx, it just arrived at a town about 2 hours away, so all things willing should get it tomorrow! So stoked!

 

Congrats! FYI....order status page has been updated on my order. And the FedEx number I found earlier in the week via my 'trick' turned out to be accurate.

 

FINALLY got an update! Laptop is currently in Chicago. I live an hour north of Detroit.

Think I have a good chance of it being here by tomorrow?

 

Got my laptop today Dont physically have it since I'm at school but my father said he'd drop it off tomorrow. Can't wait!

 

Just checked the status of my order and it is shipped!

which means it will get here tomorrow exactly on the EDD.

Just an update guys ordered mine on the 21st of feb and i received it on the 26th i had the free 7 days shipping btw only took 5 days from order to delivered FTW!!!

I got the stock $599 R1 and i'm currently playing dead space 2 on max setting and fallout new vegas on high settings with no problems

 

I ordered mine on the 21st also. It was scheduled for delivery 3/3(today). I checked the site before going to bed last night and it was still in production. Just woke up and checked again, and it shipped and should be here today

 

That's what is confusing me! I think FedEx put the wrong dates in, because under information all it has is the information was received, but even today, still says estimated ship date is 3/2/11 and estimated delivery is 3/3/11, but it still only lists the electronic information..

Dell still has me listed as in production, and the automated line still says it will ship on the 3/8/11 with estimated delivery on or before 3/11/11, which makes sense. But something, somewhere, is not right...

 

Once in Canada, I have read they use Purolator next day shipping in within Ontario and 2 days shipping if outside Ontario.
I'm still to receive my shipping info. It still says "In Production".

 

Weird.........I was originally scheduled for deliver on the 4th they delayed my order yesterday to the 9th and I check today and it says shipped, wth! Oh well im happy I dont have to wait anymore!

Next day shipping was the only way to go. And that's why I had it shipped to work, not to mention I can set it up while I am coding tomorrow as well. One of the perks of working a desk job in a relaxed environment.

Same thing happened to me and it shipped on time! I was bummed but checked my email that night and it was on its way on time again. Hope the same happens for you.

 

My order from the 21st just got updated to "Delivery Preparation". I guess it'll ship soon!

 

My order from 21st also got into Delivery Prep this morning and now its showing "Shipped". Its gonna be a very very long weekend!!

core i5, 8gb, fully customized. had a edd of 3/3. shipped 3/3 got here 1pm today (3/4)!

Ordered mine 2/26, R1 standard, only upgrades are 4 gigs of ram, and the first HDD upgrade for 7200 RPM.

Last night changed to shipped, and according to fedex tracker and phone call, it is on the truck for delivery today!

 

I received my M11xR2 last night, having ordered it on the 2/22.

Anyone have any idea if the M11xR2 is supposed to ship with the Dell 1520(agn) wireless card in the US?

The website and my order spec sheet confirm that my system was to ship with the Alienware abgn 2x2 mimo wireless card, but the system shows up with the Dell card in the device manager.

Any suggestions on what my next step should be? I called up Alienware and they're asking me to cancel my order and place a new order.

 

I ordered my m11x r1, all stock parts except the nameplate on March 2nd, estimated delivery date march 16th. Called automated order status said "your item was shipped out march 11th"...even though its the 7th today haha so I talked to a rep who told me it was out of production...It will be coming free 5-7 day shipping. You guys think if its been flagged as "out of production" today (Mon, Mar 7th) I have any chance of getting it by this weekend?

 

Finally got my m11x today after a long wait. Enjoyin it!!

 

i ordered my m11x on 3/2 with an estimated delivery date of 3/16. got an email late last night saying it was shipped with an estimated delivery date of 3/10. i track it with fedex and it says its on vehicle for delivery TODAY!!! woohooo

 

O man what the heck...we ordered on the same day! I called today the rep said it was ready to be shipped and there were no delays but the projected ship date was the 11th, delivery date the 16th....so lame.

 

I used the trick on page 238 and it turns out my m11x was shipped today with a delivery date of 3/10...so crazy how wrong the info dell gives is...the website says its still in production, two different reps told me it would be shipped out until the 11th (after it had already shipped, according to the fedex site) and the automated system told me the same thing. So apparently even when your laptop has physically left the dell warehouse and is in the hands of the shipper, no one at dell knows...

 

thats crazy, yeah mine was all stock, the order status on dells website seemed to be updated correctly the whole time. I was sooo surprised to get that email yesterday...

 

Just an update:

Mine showed up today! Would have been here on the exact EDD except for a shipping delay in Toronto! Now to put a clean windows install on this thing and set up my little AlienBeast!

 

Well, seems I am so lucky I need to go buy a lottery ticket. Purchased my R2 on 2/26 and original delivery date was 3/17, but now it has been delayed until 3/24. Beginning to think something is wrong.

Nothing in there that is any different than anyone else, is there? Think I am going to call and see about getting another $50 off or free expedited shipping. A full month is a bit too long to wait I think. Perhaps a free upgrade to the i7....

 

It figures the day after I receive my "purchased as new" outlet M11x R2 with the i5, 4 GB RAM, and 250 GB HDD that Dell would post refurbished systems with the i7, 4 GB RAM, and a 320 GB HDD for less. All told, I'm saving more than $50 for about $200 worth of upgrades if the system were purchased new. Only thing missing from the i7 is Bluetooth, which I wouldn't use anyway.

I have the return authorization and UPS label for the i5 machine so that will go back tomorrow or Thursday. My i7 order is in production so it should ship tomorrow and be in my hands Friday. I'm really excited to be getting an i7 machine and even more so that it will cost less than $750 with tax (the i5 was a few cents less than $800).

 

Called today (ok, technically yesterday) about my order and the rep told me that the only info they had was that it was ready to ship but they were waiting on the carrier. It could ship in the next 10 minutes or the next 2 hours. I asked if that meant it would ship out today, and he said 'it seems so'.

So then I asked him what the ETA was if it shipped out today, and he said, it is still 3/24.

I asked him if he had the address correct, and he repeated it to me. Being I live less than an hour from Dell's Nashville campus, I figured I would be getting it a bit sooner than 10 day shipping. The rep told me that it is likely due to the fact they are waiting on more units to go to my city.

I knew that sometimes they hire people who have a small leak in their brain where their imagination occasionally leaks into the logical side of the brain and creates fantastic alternate realities, but even that is stretching it.

Anyone have another method to get a bit more accurate information? As I am understanding it, there is really no reason for a delay of an entire week because others, who ordered the exact same item I did, later than I did, have already received theirs. While I have no issues with the occasional slip up, keeping the customer informed is a step that Dell/Alienware seems to have forgotten.

Might take half a day off on Friday and go visit the Dell campus to see if there is anyone with reliable info.

 

Try the trick on page 236 follow the link to the fedex site enter your order number as a reference number put your country and zipcode....its possible your order has already shipped the rep told me the same thing waiting to ship haven't picked a carrier yada yada did the fedex trick and it turned out my order had shipped the previous day dell reps don't know

 

Yep, I saw that trick and the info there is as follows:

Shipment status : Initiated (not picked up or in transit)

Anticipated Ship date : March 14th

Package weight 10.0 lbs. (yep, sounds correct)

Well, guess we will see. Will be happy to have it before the weekend, but if I have to wait, I have to wait. Though due to the hassle, I might be tempted to hassle them for a bit more off, later on.

 

Anyone else also got the i7 680 cpu?

 

Ordered M11x R1, stock except nameplate and ram upgrade + bag on 3/3/2011. Laptop bag was delivered today 3/16 except the laptop went to somewhere in Indiana instead of Denver where it was meant to go. They're rebuilding a new one and going to send that - would have been nice if it was sent to the right location the first time

 

To add insult to injury....

You can now order an M11x R2 with the same config as the one I ordered and have it ship the next day according to the US Alienware site.

You know, I think someone in marketing is trying to mess with me. Order it on 2/26 and still waiting, yet now you can get them shipped out next day?

*sigh* Here's to keeping my fingers crossed for it to arrive tomorrow.

waiting is hard man... I was compulsively checking my order status/these forums...dont worry, you will be posting on this forum from your new m11x before you know it...

 

Taken the plunge, couldnt wait for the (possible) R3 revision so got myself a i7 m11x. I will upgrade to a ssd when it arrives and the ram as dell prices are stupid!

Eta 13th april, when i am away so i hope it turns up earlier!

 

Mine just arrived, finally! Just added the 8GB of Crucial DDR3 1333, going to be wiping everything and putting win 7 ultimate on it (technet subscriber) and grab all the extras to get the look and feel back but with my own install. Thanks for putting up with me while the days seemed to go so slowly by, will be back soon to give my first impressions
