M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Make sure you install the latest HD drivers from Intel's web site, and use Dell's drivers for the NVIDIA GPU. I found a few games wouldn't run on the GeForce with the Intel graphics drivers from Dell. Enjoy that new system. I'm having a blast with mine. Just have to wait for my 500 GB WD Scorpio Black to arrive and reinstall Windows.

I ordered the i7 version on 3/16 also, exact same 4/4 ship date too.

I can't wait either, but I'll be reading all the threads about overclocking, tweaks, etc., so it'll keep me busy till I get it.

 

We've received 1 of 2. FedEx attempted delivery on Thursday and went to pick it up Friday. Finally received shipping notice but still no updated delivery date on my system yet.

 

I ordered my i7 on 3/16 as well. The expected ship date was 4/4, until this morning, when they changed it to 4/12 :/ This sux

My brother got his in 10 days flat, but he has the i5

 

I'm curious -- Does anyone know if these are manufactured overseas? My FedEx tracking had said it shipped out of NJ but the laptop had a big "Made in China" underneath.

 

Yes, they are made in a state controlled factory somewhere in China. Occasionally written pleas for help are sometimes found inside the machines when opened

 

I ordered my M11x-R2 on 3/18. Got the i7-640UM, 500GB HDD, 8GB DDR3 memory, Bluetooth on a soft black case. Got a decent deal on it... $200 off plus around $20 for EPP and another $75 from talking to a sales agent to get me to pull the trigger. $1025 total. Estimated delivery is 4/6 and still shows in production.

Odd thing is the online ordering only shows 4GB available now. Just odd that a couple of weeks ago 8GB was available. Any clues what's up?

UPDATE - delivery slipped to 4/14. Dammit!!!!!
UPDATE 2 - shipped 4/5, estimated delivery 4/7, now that's better!
UPDATE 3 - shipped 4/5, delivered 4/6!!!

 

Ordered my M11x R1 on 3/23 and has a deliver date by 4/11 says it's still in production! Seems like it's taking forever, I just hope it doesn't become delayed.

 

i haven't found one yet in mine....maybe it's laser etched onto the metal plates or something.

 

I just looked at the web site and they said it was shipped and will be delivered on 4/29.. awesome considering the original ship date of 5/10

I had a estimated delivery date of 27 April. So far it seems like it might be accurate. It left China on 25, via Korea and Kazakhstan. Should land in Europe soon.

Did you order on release day? I think they are consecutively shipping them in order of their order placement, so those who ordered right away will get them sooner.

I ordered mine the 2nd day, with an estimated date of 5/12. Hopefully mine ships by then.

I clicked on the provided FedEx tracking number and it says that it was shipped 4/26 and arriving 4/28!

Guess it's not neccessary to pay more for upgraded shipping unless you want 'overnite/Next Day' as mine is only taking 3 days from being shipped. I had chosen the 7 days free shipping option.

Yeah, I ordered mine on 4/19 too. And I can't even get a confirmation from Dell if my system is even being built at all.

 

yah, i had some odd things going on with my order. like when i followed the link i got in my email confirmation i could see the order status, but if i signed into my dell.com account it wouldn't show up.

now mine is listed as shipped, but the ETA is 1/1/2070??? lol

i wonder if their system just wasn't fully prepared/integrated for the new releases.

That's great, I wish I had something like that. My R2 from back in December was left at the front door of my house. It sat there for 6 hours until I got home from work. No signature required or anything, wasn't too happy about that.

 

Yeah they use to do that @ my house in Cleveland. Just leave it on the porch and go. It was a nice enough neighborhood but nothing great.

They could have at least left it on the back deck.

I'm shocked nothing was never stolen from there.

Ordered 4/19/11, original ETA was 5/13/11, shipped today (4/28/11), arriving tomorrow.

Says it shipped from Chicago, which is pretty convenient since I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

The reason for all those options was to bring the price up high enough to be able to use the -$350 coupon.

 

What's up guys, i'm new to the forum but i'll probably come here EVERY day as i'm very active on dirtbike forums. I just ordered my M11x on 4/24 and my EDD is 5/16. I hope it doesn't take that long bc if it does i'll be pissed because everyday I anxiously wait for it.

My specs are 750GB Hard drive 6GB Ram i5 processor (I hope that's good enough for CS:Source)

About how long is the wait time if I got Next day shipping?

 

I ordered on the 19th. Have next day shipping (which it still shipped standard FedEx) and I am expected to have it on the 30th)

Do NOT pay for next day - because chances are like me, it will still ship standard fedex ground, and you'll have a heck of a time getting Dell's indian reps to refund anything.

hello all congratz to those who is getting their m11x early. as for me im still waiting on my order. i got the SB i7, with 8gb ram, 750gb hdd, BT 3.0, Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio, and Intel Advanced-N WiFi Link 6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax. EDD is 5/11 and ordered on the day it was release 4/19. Oh and 1 more thing do you guys have any problems viewing your order status on dell website. says error message. This wait is a pain!! >.<

 

I ordered on the 19th the day it was released and still says in production. my EDD is may 10th. I seriously think waiting for 3 weeks for orders is not worth the wait on a new product. Like once you get it and start it up you will have problems. Some had problems right out of the box and some had problems later. i know that it takes time to build but seriously 3 weeks. . Well i guess i will wait later this week or next week, but hopefully this week. i just better not have a dead laptop right out of the box!!...

 

I'm still waiting. But I should have it soon. It shipped on 4/30. I had next buisness day shipping, but they "Accidently" shipped it ground. I should have got it today, but I'll be getting it Thursday/Friday most likely. Unless I'm lucky and ground doesn't take forever.

A friend that ordered his on the same day I did, got it on Friday of last week.

 

Oh dang nice, hopefully mines shipped this week as well and i also got the next business day shipping and your friend is very lucky. gratz to your friend. when did you order yours?

 

The key here is to understand what goes into the process.

Build at Dell is a lot more than sitcking bits together. Boxing/shipping preparation is a lot more than sticking it in a box. The machines are assembled in China, so assuming Dell aren't trying to kill their business by keeping a massive surplus of parts on hand just in case John Smith of Bummsville decides to order a machine, there's a good chance that build includes getting the parts.

Shipping prep is another good example - it includes the time it takes to get the finished machine packed onto a plane with a few hundred others and shipped from China to a distribution hub in your home country.

Dell have improved with this latest revision and apparently appear to have certain configurations prebuilt and on hand ready to go . But the rest have to go through the whole cycle of getting parts, assembling them, testing them, burn in, shipping out china and so on. And yup, it takes 3 weeks.

I'm not trying to sound mean here, but we've all been through it - it sucks and its painful but it is what it is. the alternative would go to be BestBuy and buy some nondescriptive gray box the same as everyone elses, and that's not at all the Alienware mentality.
