Ordered one on Friday, Specs are below. Wish they had a 2 year warranty option, but between EPP discount and tax exemption it was a reasonably nice savings. Now if there were a way for a key piece of database software I use to work without a disk I'd be completely set.

EPP now has a special promotion, $871 for SU4100 4GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD.

 

So I'm about to order one of these M11x. Pretty much decided on it, just gotta pull the trigger haha.
While looking at warranties, I noticed that they have a 7 year Advanced Service plan for less than the price of a 4 year plan
What would be the chances of them honoring that? It shows up in the final order review too as "7 Year Advanced Service Plan plus Failsafe". 7 years of warranty would be pretty crazy.

 

Trust me in 7 years you won't want the m11x in any shape or form Not worth it IMO.

 

I know i definately wont but i was planning on buying the 4 year warranty so it would last me through college in case i dropped it or anything. Why wouldnt i buy the 7 year if its cheaper than the 4 year lol?
Plus who knows, maybe in a couple years when they replace the m11x with a new a revision and dont have the parts to fix mine, they might just replace it.

 

I did not see the pricing. Very interesting. I have always been a "relaxed buy now, panic button later" buyer, so naturally I ignore all extended warranties.

I hate the bank holiday in that I have not been contacted or has the order tracker been update

 

I'm still waiting on mine (ordered 25april)...but im in the states and hopeful it should be shipped out soon. As for the 7 year warranty....I wouldn't get it. I'm in the financial and risk management field and it isn't worth it by any means...put the money in a financial calculate yourself...put in for interest and 7 years and see how much your money now is worth in 7 years...then take that and decide if it's worth the trade for the risk of error

 

minutes after i posted last, the dell website said shipped...should be here tomorrow ordered 25April, shipped 3May, hopefully in NC, at my door, 4May

 

Would you guys recommend the basic warranty or should I get the advanced. Im afraid of dropping it as I will be moving it around alot going to classes and such.
It'd be 3 years of basic for 199 or "7" years of advanced for 309.

 

Wow, lucky. I ordered mine on April 26, and according to the site it is still in production.

 

I didn't get anything extra warranty since I can get it it fully insured myself for like £30 quid per year lol. +I'm gona take care of this sooooooooooo well.

@kizutsku how can you get it delivered the day after it ships?
Mine shipped 4 days ago and I still don't know if it's actually in the U.K yet...

Hey alk, i live in North Carolina, USA...they ship out of Texas here. I just bought a few other comps, (1 alienware Desktop, and some other dells) and they all shipped from Texas. I hope you all get yours soon. As for those asking for advice on warranty...there is no signifacant difference in TIME between 3 and 7 years value waise of the actual comp. However if you think you will not buy another comp in 7 years (VERY unlikely) i would rec getting the 7. but IMHO it is a waste of money. like i said above, I work within the risk managment field....i would not buy this myself. If you have your own renters or HO insurance they should cover loss in case of catasrophe ( at least with endorsement) depending on where you are

 

The U.K really sucks in terms of Dell lol. Everything from Dell for us comes from China...
Not to mention how useless most couriers are in the U.K

 

Going for as future proof as possible with a laptop with a CPU soldered to the board. Especially because an application I use for work is very RAM hungry.

 

Check with your insurance company. My insurance covers all of the "advanced" options already, so no need to add on the extra through Dell.

My order has just moved to 'In Production' does anyone know how long it will stay in there?

 

Mine stayed in that stage for 2 days, but it varies.

Some people get less than a day, others can take up to two weeks...

My configuration aside from stock were as follows:

If I had to guess from what I've read of local deliveries, I'd estimate my actual delivery date to be (Monday) 5/10. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have mine now and I'm quite impressed.

 

I ordered my m11 on tuesday may 4th and my orderstatus still says pending, how long does it usually take for it to go from pending to in production?

 

I think it mostly depends on what your payment method was, and how quick it gets processed. From what I recall reading, sometimes salespersons are slow to enter the order in the system. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give them a call if it doesn't change by tomorrow just to ask if your payment went through.

 

I think this is what happened, since I called them and gave them my info and they said there was no order coming up in they're system with my purchase id. then about fifteen minutes after I get off the phone I receive an order confirmation. Glad I called, id hate to think how long of a wait it would have been if I didnt remind them.

 

Glad you got the ball rolling on that.. Now you can enter the next phase of waiting. It involves looking up your order ID and checking your email for status updates about 10 times a day. It also involves refreshing this thread over and over to see if someone who ordered around the same time as you posts some news about getting a shipment or notice (updates for emails tend to be received shotly after 5 EST). Anyhow, good luck with the speedy arrival of your system.

Hi guys,

Ordered my M11x on the 2nd (during the bank holiday weekend here in the UK). Had some issues with the transaction getting declined because it was a large amount and then Dell putting the order through twice with no option to cancel until business resumed on Tuesday morning.

Anyway, all seems good now and the laptop was shipped from China on Thursday with a delivery date of Tuesday 11th AM. Pretty chuffed as my original ETA was the 20th.

I got my automated phone call yesterday - does this mean it's here in the UK now? I'm really hoping so as the Icelandic volcano ash is affecting airspace again elsewhere in Europe. And which courier delivers on their behalf in the UK? My order status mentions Business Post (UK Mail) but their tracking page doesn't recognise the number I've got (assuming I'm looking at the right thing of course).

I really can't wait to receive this little fella. I've been wanting to upgrade from my Samsung NC10 for a little while and was thrilled when my husband told me I could treat myself to this. I don't really intend to do hardcore gaming on it (though I am going to throw a few things at it to see what it's capable of), but I like to play indie games (from the likes of Reflexive, Big Fish etc) and have been getting frustrated with the increasing amount that don't support a 1024x600 res or integrated Intel graphics.

Roll on Tuesday morning.....

 

So after reading the many reviews of the m11x I finally ordered one May 3, 2010 and it has been in production for around 5+ days. This will be my first Alienware computer and I am so excited. I keep refreshing the dell page to see if my computer has shipped. I hope to get it before the EDD of 5/19/2010.

 

Well, my M11x arrived promptly at 9am this morning via UK Mail and so far I'm thoroughly impressed.

Gonna go do some tweaking and then check out some of the owner's threads.

 

Order placed on 5-3, shipped out early this morning. It is going to be a long two days of work. AAAHHHH

 

Order placed on 4/30, shipped today and should be arriving tomorrow afternoon.

 

Order placed today (14/05) for the ESL Spec one, awaiting confirmation that its been paid for and thus the shipping date...

Ordered 5 May, shipped 12 May, arrived 14 May- 3-5 day shipping.

 

Placed my order May 13, still no estimated shipping or anything (I thought the rep said 6/3, but that would be absurd IMO--is it usually only a week?)

 

Yea May 13th order.. it says I won't get it until the 28th.. but I'm thinking it will be slightly earlier.

People are getting them within 1 week. That is awesome. I'm excited.. Maybe I will have mine by the end of the week

 

My order status still says 6/3, and I ordered it the same day. I hope it gets updated soon, or at least is just a placeholder.

 

I placed my order on May 10th, spoke with an atcual agent on the phone to expedite it. It is now a week later and it says that it is in-production. The estimated delivery date is May 26th, and I have next day delivery. I also noticed that the charge ot my credit card is missing. I called and asked my bank and they saud there was no reason from there end. Does Dell do this and then charge the card when the system ships? Should I call Dell and ask if it is still on schedule?

Another status screen shows my EDD as 5/21, yet I never got an email stating it shipped--and it still says in production. They need a better tracking system IMO...
