What other status screen?
I am using the one from the email they sent me when I placed my order.
Also - Blazer that sucks that you just got into production after placing it on the 10th.. Mine was in production like the day I put my order in on the 13th..
My credit card was charged but its a pending charge.. I'm guessing it will drop and when it ships I will be charged or the pending charge will fully go through when it ships.. Maybe the same case for you ?
-
I'm using my phone as I'm at work right now, but there are two order status screens I see--one where it just gives a brief description and Estimated ship date, and another with exact build components which has estimated delivery date.

I somehow have a feeling a CSR will just use the same screen you are and say that its still on track to arrive by its 'Scheduled' Delivery date.
Both Order Status Screens still show 5/28 for me.. and I ordered on the 13th. I barely added anything.. Just did 4GB of Ram and a bigger hard drive and bluetooth and thats it.. lol. -

! This afternnon and is supposed to arrive tomorrow, woot!
See you in the owners forum! -
My notebook just shipped!
6 days! Thats all it took for them to build it.. actually less.. I ordered on Thursday and it was shipped Weds morning.. so pretty much 5 days!
AWESOME(It arrives tomorrow)
-
So either they have a really bad status program going on, or I'll be pleasantly surprised Friday afternoon
EDIT: So I got my shipping information today, which states it will be here tomorrow. Not bad since I have 5-7 day shipping. I'm guessing they expedited it to make it seem faster or something. Either way, they need to improve their order status' IMO. -
Well, my M11x is scheduled to be delivered today! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!
I have been lurking in the forum for a few weeks to learn all I can about tweaking it when I get it. I won't be doing massive gaming but wanted be sure this baby had the nads to play anything I can throw at it, plus anything I might throw in the distant future. I like my computers to hold up for many years of performance. This is my second Alien. My first one was way back when Windows ME was supposed to be the "Gamer Friendly" OS. We all know how that went. But I still have that rig, and it still runs like it did new! I was impressed with Alienware then, and hope to be just as impressed today. Cuddos to all of you who have taken the time to post your ideas, fixes, and tweaks! -
My order just changed the shipped right now as well (ordered on 5/15). Much like roadogaj, I have been lurking this same forum trying to judge the overall production time... I am also a paranoid and slightly OCD person so I was driving myself insane, but my original estimated delivery was for 6/1 and I'm heading out of town on 5/31 for two weeks, so you may be able to see where my paranoia was coming from.
I am super excited for my first new computer in five years (netbooks don't count...) and I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread as it helped a lot and you guys (and gals?) seem to be much more pleasant than some of the other forums I've come across during my OCD crraziness. Also, this will be my first Alienware. -
on the dell website when you order an M11x it says it requires 9 days to build. on the other hand.. its good to hear that they finished even earlier! that means that mine might also be coming sooner than expected!
when you guys get it please post about how the oc goes (BSOD or not?) and how the plastic hinges are in the back (are they squeaky or not?)
i know when i was about to buy the laptop those were the two things that held me back from ordering right away. (squeaky hinges = broken hinges like the m15x) -
I'm typing this on my new M11x right now! Just love this thing! Even my wife is impressed, (Electronics do not impress her whatsoever) I really like the facial recognition. It switches from my log-in to the wife's log-in almost instantly, upon recognizing her face.
So far I have no issues. The hinges do not make any noise. I have not found any glitches, or concerns that would make me think I have a problem with the build. I have been spending the last few hours doing some tweaks, and downloading security stuff (zonealarm, winpatrol, spywareblaster, malwarebytes, firefox, etc)
I'm very glad I made the leap and bought this. Here is what my build looked like:
osmic Black case, C2D SU7300, 4GB Ram, 320GB 7,200rpm HDD, Terra Green colors.
My nameplate is rather cool as well.
Ok, back to playing with my new toy! -
Congrats on receiving your new toy. I can't wait to get mine, but I hate the fact it shipped today and I won't get it until Monday (next business day poopery). It sucks knowing it shipped, but that it will be all alone with no home over the weekend. And, my current PC is crapping out as if it knows I'm about to kick it to the curb.

Mine was not due for delivery until 6-1-10. I was mildly surprised yesterday when I checked the status. It went from "processing" on Wednesday to "shipped" on Thursday! I had opted for "next day delivery", so I was pretty excited to know it was on it's way so quickly. I had been reading some of the horror stories regarding orders seemingly lost in limbo. I am actually downsizing from two laptops. One was my general everyday user, and the other was my gaming rig (if you can call it that). This is waaaay more powerful than both those combined.
I'm glad there are no noises or other worrisome issues. I am also impressed with how fast this thing loads up and is ready for action. Pretty much half the time it takes for my Dell Inspirons to load up. -
Most annoying thing ever: I ordered some games through Gamefly with free shipping and they came FedEx today, but my laptop that I paid for Next Business day has to wait until Monday because it's the weekend. Tis be crazy.
-
Hmmmmm. Just rang up to try and cancel mine as I now see the m11x is having a facelift next month with a new processor. Couldn't cancel as it has been shipped today! I will be so tempted to open it too look but no, I am sending it back for a refund.
-
Ordered mine on the 14th, shipped today, due within 4 days
(courier ticket says its coming from china)

Any hunches on how the upgrades will affect pricing?
Edit: I'd also just be curious to anyone who has returned an Alienware or Dell previously, do they charge a restocking fee regularly? -
I recon here in the UK the price would start at £999. But then that would be the same as the basic M15 so no idea really, they may keep the same price as now but i doubt it
-
I'm currently running my dying 5+ year old laptop and I don't really know if I want to return it if it's going to cost me out the . I hate crap like this and it always seems to happen to me. The day mine is going to be in my hands; the announcement of a new upgrade comes out. I hate technology for its desire to never sit still more than a few months.
I have also always been a software guy and below an idiot when it comes to hardware, so I wouldn't even know how much of a difference it would really make. I'm not really willing to spend a couple hundred more dollars for a fancier setup if that's how much it would cost too (I have the money for a new laptop, but not crazy money). -
Going to keep it though because i doubt i'll be able to get the refreshed m11x as cheap. (I got the ESL deal with education discount and ended up paying £816 for the m11x listed in my signature which i think works out at like £180 off) -
Those of us like me who are waiting for delivery of their already ordered M11x are in a quandry! However, i paid £999 for it, it should do everything i ask of it for the next couple of years so is it really worth sending it back for a refund waiting another month, let the new one "bed in" for a month or so, so all the problems can be ironed out then re-order and wait another couple of weeks.
I know for a fact when it arrives by the end of the week i will not be able to resist opening it. Yes the new one will no doubt be better at everything but then i bet give it another 6 monts another version will be released...........Right thats it.........i am keeping it and just going to enjoy it as it is then upgrade again in a couple of years, if i wait for revisions i will never get one! LOL -
That's exactly how I feel toondw. I haven't upgraded in 5 years because of this exact situation and if I send this one back I will never upgrade... and I don't know how I could resist opening it.
-
to tallk about the upgrade. if its culv processors, then your gonna get marginal upgrade. the only difference would be in programs that are optimized for the core i series. games would play about the same.
alot of people wont like what im gonna say but i talked to a dell sales rep about this and she said a core i3 upgrade would be 100 dollars more. core i3 would basically give the same performance a core i5 would be 200 and a core i7 would be 250. (us dollars). so you might wanna take that into consideration. although i think she was just estimating.
also if you really wanted. theres a 21 day return policy. as long as your within 21 days of your shipping date, you can return for another system without paying the 15% restocking fee.
oh. and on the other thread, some said they talked to a dell rep and the refresh wouldnt be for 3 months. idk but thats just what i read.
i just ordered mine too. im not gonna swap out because an ASUS had an upgrade from the su7300 to the core i5 and they both performed pretty much the same. -
Yea Cdoan34, I read that entire thread (some craziness in there) and I think I'm fine with what's in this current system. I'm not buying an m11x to play games maxed out...I would never buy any laptop for that. I'm rocking an extremely outdated 5+ year old laptop and the current m11x is more than enough. From everything I've read, I don't think the new upgrade will be worth the extra cost. I do hate that FedEx is deciding to take longer than ever before to get to my place today... I need to go out and I'm not taking a chance of missing the package.
-
oh i know what you mean. i had that happen to me on my last laptop. i was waiting for the studio xps 13... and it came on a saturday.. left a note on the door that they wouldnt be back until tuesday
lolol.
longest wait of my life.
cant wait to benchmark my m11x when it comes.
i wanna run some games that people here havent.
so far my list has
assassins creed 2, split-second? lol i think i might play mass effect 1 and 2 first though. iv wanted to play both but didnt have a pc that could run them. -
Well mine just arrived and I will look forward to opening it up the second I get back home. It feels weird to wait this long only to leave the second it arrives haha.
Definitely play Mass Effect 1&2. Both are great and I heard the PC version of ME1 was a lot better (I played them on 360). I look forward to catching up on some old games. I've had the first two STALKER games for a while, but I was never able to run them. -
So i ordered on 5/19 and its been "in production" for days. and i just happened to check it again and i noticed my estimated delivery date is changed from 6/8 to 5/27. i have 7 day shipping cause it was free and the laptop is still "in production" and has not been shipped. lolol does this mean that i get 1 day shipping?
EDIT: it was just shipped now. and it still says it should come on the 27th. one day shipping from a free 7 day shipping will impress me. :] i dont think i'll ever even consider paying for fast shipping anymore XD -
Which changed to 5/27! So basically, our m11x's probably are in the same batch!
I also payed for the 7 day shipping lol.
Well anyways, congratulations.*Cheers* Here's to the m11x and for its swift shipping.
-
-
looks like we're all going to be having a fun day tomorrow -
Awesome coincidences if I may say so.
Anyhow, I wish us all a great unboxing tomorrow, as well as hours upon hours of gaming lol. -
-
-
hope you enjoy unboxing tomorrow! -
mine arrived about 90 minutes ago, nice and early
im loving this little thing, not tried gaming yet just installing and playing around with things...
also did anyone else get portal free with their alienware? -
-
i'd love to know why it comes with nero preinstalled when theres no dvd drive though -
-
hinges seem fine,
havent attempted oc'ing it yet, only just finished restoring files from the backup drive,
currently trying to coax my COD4 disk to work properly, its a wee bit scratched i think lol -
-
overclocked, and on the gt335m
no issues yet,
been about 10 minutes since the reboot
no bsod yet -
-
Because one of my greatest concerns about the m11x would be the instability brought by overclocking the processors.
Although I am still waiting for mine, its 7am and lol I have an appointment from 9am-5pm...
So if it comes while I'm away: I'd have to call FedEx and make them hold my parcel for pickup the next day. Right? -
Mine arrived at 9.30am uk time today, 6 days ahead of schedule. I was going to send it back and wait for the new version but the price would be over my limit so I am keeping it.
So far all is well, it looks great, the only thing I don't like much is the plastic wrist rest, it just feels cheap. But everything else is really good quality.
I have overclocked the processor in bios and everything appears stable, just downloading my steam games, with my connection it will be about 12 hours to download them all. Have played portal so far!
I feel it is worth the £999 I paid! -
-
hey minoru did you get yours yet? =_=. im still waiting for mine :[[
-
I'm actually at home right now, and so far I don't have it.
We're probably (I'm guessing) going to get it Saturday or tomorrow. -
