wow congratz! Come to think of it, I placed my order on the release day noon, which was the 18th April and the order didn't get processed and charged until the 19th. The money for the laptop is again sitting in my account waiting for dell to recharge it after the cancelling and re processing the order.

I would really like to get it soon since I am going into surgery on the 25th of May and that now gives me two days to play with my new shiny thing before weeks of recovery. The shipping is next business day.

A FedEx truck is in town on which I suspect is my PC. Now I'm a complete doofus (not just now) and checking out the window every #@!% 30 seconds.

I am still waiting for my system to be shipped. I order it on launch day still nothing. My estimated delivery date is 20th of May. I understand these system sem to be in high demand but a month for a build time is starting to take is toll. Expecially since people who ordered there system after me are getting theirs.

So I ordered a m11x along with SC II. Does anyone know if these items ship together or should I expected the SC II earlier? Thanks.

I called sales btw and they weren't particularly helpful with determining the ship date of SC II, so perhaps they are shipped together?

I can't imagine they would ship separately unless otherwise specifically requested.

I'd assume they will ship together. Don't count on the estimated date being correct, mine is arriving a week earlier than originally estimated.

Welp, I ordered my M11x R3 tonight. It has an EDD of 6/10. I think it should probably get here a bit sooner than that, right? Even if it does take that long, I'm not sussed. I'm not horrible desperate like I was when I had to order my last laptop, and I was at the edge of my seat and counting the minutes and seconds...

edit: Out of curiosity, how did people expedite their production? I saw no such option.

Sorry for the double-post, but my M11x would *seem* to be moving through the stages fast. I only ordered last-night at 8PM, and it has already gone from processing, to pre-production, and now it's "in production" already. The last time I tracked an order from Dell (which I eventually canceled) it took 4 days to get to this point. It was processing for a day, then in pre-production for 3 days, *then* it went into actual production. Very encouraging to see that it only took about 14 hours for it to get to "in production". I am mildly encouraged. :)

I ordered my M11X R1 on May 20th and it came up with an EDD of June 13th. A week later it still says "work in progress" :(

Ahhhhhhhh!!! I am going to go insane waiting for my M11x R3 *sob sob* I just suck at waiting! I only ordered it 4 days ago and it feels like it's been 4 weeks! I mean, it's supposed to ship on June 3rd and arrive on June 10th (I'm trying to get the shipping upgraded from 7-day to something, erm, better) but it feels like suuuuuch a long time to wait, an impossibly long time...

Why does Dell make us suffer like this? WHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?! Surely it can't take.... THIS long?

Also, slight question: What is this I hear about there being two kinds of screens your M11x could be built with, a "good" one and a "bad" one? Any insight as to what that's about? It seems really awful if you are paying a lot of money for something like this and could wind up with an inferior product as compared to people who paid the same amount.

There is a Sammy screen and an AUO screen. The Sammy is normally reguarded as better (simply brighter - likely just less opaque vs the AUO). I always thought there was also a 3rd LG screen, but I didn't find anything on that during a recent search.

    and sammy = samsung

Hmm... So like, any idea which one a person is more likely to get? Do more people end up with the AUO one or the Samsung? If I get the AUO one and it's like, really lame do I have any recourse?

I ordered a base model M11x on 17th May, EDD 3rd June. It went to 'Work In Progress' after a day, and was stuck there for 12 days, until yesterday, when it finally went 'In Production'.

Estimated Delivery Date is 3rd June, still.

What are the odds I actually receive this thing on Friday? Why are they so slow?

Wow... Mine went from "Processing" to "Pre-Production" and then to "In Production" literally during the first 14 hours after I placed the order. Of course, it's been stuck at "in production" ever since for 6 days now, so who knows. I wouldn't place too much emphasis on what your order status is - it could still be shipping out very soon, even though it only just went to "in production".

This past weekend I e-mailed Dell customer service asking if there was any way they could upgrade my shipping from "7-day" to something better, and the response I got stated that my order had already progressed to the final stages of production so it was no longer possible for the shipping to be upgraded. Of course, this response was written in hilariously broken English that was barely intelligible and sounded as if it had been penned by a 2nd-grader of sub-average intellect, so I don't exactly ascribe a great deal of credibility to what she told me.

Great so I've just checked this morning and the estimated delivery date has changed from 3rd June to 17th June, is up with that?

Will complaining get me anywhere? I've been without a laptop for 3 weeks now and did not expect this one to take 31 days to arrive.

People are right when they say Dell's order tracking system is complete nonsense.

Hooray, mine has also changed to shipped! ~==^_____^==~ xDDDDDDDD

That all happened much faster than I thought! The estimated delivery date has also changed from 6/10 to 6/3 so it should be here by Friday basically meaning I'll have it by this weekend instead of next weekend YAAAAAYYYYYY~~~~
    [IMG]

edit: OMGGGG even more awesome news guys!!!! I expected to get my M11x on Friday if I was lucky, but my order status got updated with a tracking number and LO AND BEHOLD it is already in my hometown and out for delivery today as we speak!!! My gosh. And it only shipped yesterday! 7-day delivery is actually... overnight delivery? Seems so.

Nevertheless, one week doesn't seem like a bad waiting time for an M11x R3. I expected far worse... !!

That's not fair, I ordered way before you :(

I've got a UPS tracking number now though, but it says:

"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Any idea how long it takes from here?

You're right - it's not really fair :( The rate at which people get their computers when they order them from Dell can be really aggravating, inconsistent, and obnoxious. A while back I had ordered an XPS 15 (which I eventually ended up canceling, thank god) and it was just crazy; some people were getting theirs built and delivered 5 days after ordering, and others were waiting a month or more for theirs. Really screwed up, left a bad taste in my mouth. The worst was when you'd get idiotic people legitimately moaning and complaining and wanting to cancel their orders because they had to wait 3 days already - the poor things!

Anyway, does it say that on the UPS tracking site? If so, what it means is your computer has been finished, packaged, labeled, and sent out from the Dell manufacturing location, and will arrive at the UPS facility local to the manufacturer to ship out from there tonight. I don't know what shipping rate you chose, but if it was, say, 2nd day delivery it means that 2 days from today (meaning Friday) you will get your M11x. If it was 3-day delivery you'll probably have to wait until next Monday. However, if it says that on the Order Status page at Dell's website, it could easily be outdated information, and your laptop could have shipped out yesterday, or something. UPS's tracking will be correct and up-to-date, though.

If it was 7-day ground, then the amount of time it is going to take will be dependent on where you live in relation to the facility your laptop is shipping out from. For example, the reason why I got mine so quickly, even though it was 7-day shipping, is because I happen to live only about 8 hours by car from where it shipped from. If it had shipped from the other side of the country, it would have taken a lot longer. Mine was FedEx, though, so since you got UPS I assume you have a more expensive shipping option than me, though I don't really know.

    Ah that makes sense.

I'm in the UK, so we don't get any delivery options, it's just £20 for standard delivery. The website is so vague as to what the delivery times are, so I have no idea if it will be 2-3 days.

I am fairly sure it has been dispatched from Ireland, at least that's what the 'Packing Slip' says, so hopefully it's not too far off. As you say, hopefully it's on route to a UPS depot, I'll check back later tonight.

The main issue I have, is that whether it comes on Friday, or Monday, I need to know in advance so I can arrange for myself or someone else to be at home to receive delivery, as everyone in the house works and getting time off at short notice is difficult.

Edit: Order is not coming from Ireland (as per the packing slip) but actually via Germany:

Koeln, Germany 01/06/2011 17:04 Package data processed by brokerage Waiting for clearance
China 01/06/2011 8:52 Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Knowing Germany, it will probably take a while to clear, as they're so overly efficiently inefficient.

Oh, man! I'm so glad that my laptop doesn't have to clear customs in Germany in order for me to receive it @_@ Not the greatest thing in the world, though I'm sure it'll work out fine in the end. Besides, it's probably a good thing for Germans to be assembling your electronics, right? Or maybe I'm mixing up my stereotypes xD

And I'm lucky - I just have everything I order online sent to be delivered where I work, which is a large-scale retail printing business. We send out and receive dozens of packages on a daily basis from both UPS and FedEx, and have a dedicated employee who handles all the shipping stuff. Thus, he's here all day and can always just sign for personal stuff that employees want to receive on occasion. We're relatively small so it's not a big deal, but it's quite a luxury in some ways I guess.

I had the same email today. I think you will find that the laptops are coming from Shanghai, China. The German reference is probably a head office. I am tracking mine on my Android phone and it shows the export scan at Shanghai. Maybe our laptops will sit together on the plane. :D

Mine too. I think it hasn't made Germany yet, as it says:

"Koeln, Germany 02/06/2011 4:45 Package data processed by brokerage Waiting for clearance / Released by clearing agency Now in-transit for delivery"

Whereas with all the other destinations, it says "Arrival Scan" and "Departure scan". I am guessing it is on route to Germany, and the paperwork is ready... then I think they go via East Midlands and then out for shipping.

It will arrive in Cologne at midnight approx (the other mentions of Germany are just paperwork not actual arrival), then fly over to East Midlands, before being dispatched for delivery at about 5am tomorrow morning.

Oh my god! That is honestly just really crazy to me. Your M11x has been to more foreign countries than me. Hell, it's more of an international traveler than probably 95% of the entire population of America!

My M11x had a really, really tiny journey. It went from New Jersey, then to Connecticut, then to Maine, where I live. Pretty much a direct line, and it only took a day of travel by truck. How boring :(

Still, I'm honestly shocked that my M11x only took a week to be built and then get here. That was a really nice surprise. And I've had no issues with it so far! *fingers crossed*. It's such a beautiful, aodrable, cute li'l thing <333

OK, as lukekarts pointed out, the number 2 and 5 (germany) were just admin notes as there was no arrival/departure scan.

So, tracking mine we now have
    China
    Korea
    Kazakhstan
    Poland
    Germany

    UK tomorrow hopefully! :)

Regardless, enjoy the aniticipation - in a lot of ways it's really the sweetest moment, right when you open it ^___^

I ordered my m11x r3 on 6/2 along with the Alienware neoprene case. The case got here about 2 or 3 days after i ordered, and the m11x is still "In Production". I've been checking my email and my order status every 10 minutes and its driving me crazy! I haven't tried calling them to see if I can hasten the process, and I probably won't unless I get close to my 6/18 deadline. It has a delivery estimate of 6/16 and im flying out on the 18th. I'm crossing my fingers!

I went to Fry's yesterday and bought a 500gb iomega eGo with usb 3.0 and can't wait to try it out on my new m11x! It's going to replace my desktop (which is extremely fast, but too big). I work as a Website Programmer (and sometimes designer) but I now require portability. When I get to where i'm going i'll order a Samsung T260HD to connect to my new laptop.

Edit: I found the trick on page 238 which tells you to go to https://www.fedex.com/AltRefTracking?cntry_code=us and type in your order number and zip code. It says Anticipated ship date Jun 3, 2011 (the day after i ordered it) Estimated delivery Jun 7, 2011 (tomorrow). I doubt this is 100% true but it gives me hope that it'll come this week!

Edit2: Emailed Alienware to see if there's any chance of speeding up the process and they said my m11x is in "final stages of production" and that they stand by their estimated delivery quote, but can't speed up the process as its already almost done.

Edit3: It has been shipped! Due to arrive tomorrow! That will be 6 days from the order date. Go Alienware!

Well, The new R1 arrived yesterday. Thats 8 days. Pretty impressive for dell.
Was going to say no problems with the lappy itself BUT...
She rattled a little so I removed the bottom cover to reveal a screw floating around. Fortunately it was trapped in a little space by the hdd and nowhere near the mainboard! Also while removing the base I noticed 4 of the captive screws weren't actually captive. Just standard screws.

I work in a IT workshop and have stripped literally hundreds of HP lappys. Never ever have i had this kind of lack of care and attention with any of them. In this case it doesn't really bother me at all. No harm done. But for a supposed high end machine I'd expect a little more attention to detail.

Anyway, thought I'd strip her completely while I was at it and applied some AS5. She's now running cool, quiet and quicker than I expected.
Hopefully she'll get along well with the R2 and I'll hear the patter of tiny R3 feet soon!

All I have is a service request number and a dispatch number for my RMA replacement. Can either of these be used to track the status of my R3?

I complained about a stripped screw and when I sent it in they sent it back with non-captive screws in the baseplate (all except for two). They were longer than the original screws. Unfortunately, they now stripped ANOTHER screw hole of it's threading! That was my R1.

Anyway, my replacement R3 is has supposedly been on the way since Thursday last week, so I am on day 7 despite it being a domestic shipment. I never got any kind of tracking.

    UK m11x R1
    Order date: 12/06/2011
    EDD: 06/07/2011

However payment paid using Dell's current 12 months interest free credit deal, payment recurring each month. Will this mean it will take longer for payment to be initially processed?

    Ahh I wants it now...

    Update:
Been in "Work in progress" for three days now, then Dell ring up saying they do not have any Cosmic Black in stock and would I like to switch to the Lunar Grey is it? I said no, but the guy was speaking so bad English he didn't understand, took like 5 minutes to make him understand I want it in Cosmic Black.
He ended up saying there would be a delay, and when I went to check my order status it had changed to "Cancelled". What is going on?
Strange, they never offered the Lunar Grey colour at the customising of their website.

This is in the UK by the way

    arghhh delays...

Is Dell still beating delivery dates by 2 weeks on average? Just curious...

Or if you don't want to wait you can check out my For Sale thread (Hint: sig) :p
