M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

For UK deliveries at least, Dell/AW are running on lead times of approx 3 weeks, and laptops are arriving precisely on the estimated delivery date - or at least that's how it was for everyone who ordered the M11x in May and received them around the 3rd and 6th June.

 

Ordered my R3 6/20, ordered the neoprene sleeve with it and anti glare screen protector and they are about almost to my house, laptop still in production.

 

In 2 weeks I will order a M11x customized laptop.I want to know how long it will take for it to come in.It would really help.I live in Lousiana

 

You would think that avoidance of some of this bouncing all over the world would be a goal of the mfg. I think that most people want to believe that anything they buy comes from whatever country they live in... rather than see that package from China go to Anchorage AK and then into the US.... guess that is just the world economy being transparent....

 

My M11x came in yesterday, got it in 8 days, pretty impressive. Got the free 7 day shipping as well.. Love this thing!!

My only complaint would be the fan noise, this thing screams when you got games going, but shouldn't be a problem, most people I think would be using headsets of some sort..

 

Ordered my R3 through hidevolution on the 16th this month and still waiting for it to reach hidevo from Dell. It is supposed to be there today and maybe they will ship tomorrow to Portugal... Maybe I have next week!!! :-D
Does any one know a way to change the US keyboard to a Portuguese one???
And were should I buy a Dell charging cable for the 3 prong charger???

Just checking in. Brand new m11x owner. Looking forward to many great discussions on the system regarding tweaking etc.

 

Ordered and confirmed June 24th.
Exact specs below with signature.
No delay was indicated during the order, as sometimes can occur with certain customization options. Also picked free and standard "7 day" shipping. Estimated delivery date was July 12th.

On June 25, status updated to "in production".

Just received an email today, June 30th, the unit has shipped!

Current status indicates it is City of Industry, CA, with a projected delivery date of July 1. Course, that will be a feat, since July 1 is a Saturday and I will be surprised if an attempt is made.

All of this is moving way ahead of schedule. I think the business world would call this "under-promise, over-deliver". So far so good.

 

Also nice that this is coming from my general neighborhood of the US west coast. If it was made outside the country it is not obvious. Not a "made in US" kind of guy (generally) but when I received my HP and it was so obviously shipped from China, my thought is that I would have paid extra to a worker in North America (our neighbor to the north included!) to assemble my computer to support the "local" economy. Course at some point, some corp type would realize that they could have consumers pay extra for "local assembly", produce the good in China, and then ship it to a "local depot", improving their profitability.

Seriously, China is a great competitor. I have nothing against the competition, competition should improve your own performance. I just wish that we would get in the game and start competing. (And that goes for anywhere that far east manufacturing (low) overhead costs have led to migration of business, labor, etc away from their own "local" neighborhood!)

Question... does anyone know where alienware products are assembled? It was a bit unclear in a search with the two remaining US Dell plants closed in TN and NC (?), and an alienware office (plant??) in the Miami FL area....

 

I bet it will arrive on Friday, July 1st.

 

huh a calendar might have been helpful.... July 1 is Friday...
the delivery date on Fed Ex shifted to July 7th... kinda what I expected.
maybe they will under promise and over deliver... at least by delivering earlier than their schedule??

 

On Friday, July 1 it was in Henderson, CO. It left there and made it 4 hour journey over the mountains early this morning... Sat July 2. Status on package said it was on a truck and out for delivery. Glad I checked... instead of doing other errands.... cus it just arrived... at 8:30AM.

So to summarize:
Ordered and confirmed June 24th.
(Estimated delivery date was July 12th)
June 25, status updated to "in production".
June 30th, the unit was shipped.
July 2, unit arrived.
8 days from order to arrival. Thanks Alienware/Dell. Great job.

It is purty. Loading anti-virus and updating windows now.

 

Ordered mine on 6/29 still in pre production. Delivery date on or before 7/15.

I got the cheepest one is that an R1?

 

Still in production. I wonder if they'll be able to get it here by friday.

When I get it I will check the hinges to see if they have been upgraded on the base units. I was shocked when I saw a picture of the failed hinges. My econo-box inspiron laptop has a better hinge design then that. I sure hope it holds up as well as my other dells have, as they ride beside my tools in my back pack.

 

I placed the order on July 14th, and it went into production quite fast...I guess by midnight or on July 15th. Ever since, the order status has been "In Production". I wonder if they have to wait for the parts to come from different suppliers or is that the time it takes to assemble m11x. They are killing me. My configuration is :

My another concern is that I hope that they give a slim portable A/C adapter. There was a slim one in the accessories options when I was customizing it, but I wasn't sure how big the default adapter is. So I didn't spend extra on that...There was a deal going on and I got XBOX 360 free with this and it arrived in 2 days. I ordered the orion m11x sleeve from amazon.com and that also arrived. When will my m11x be produced and shipped ???

 

Delivered on July 16 only 1 day late.

 

I have an M11x R3 on order - says est. delivery is 8/12. Got it from the Dell Outlet. Not a scratch n dent - just a refurb. This will actually be the first laptop I've actually owned (used the work-issued ones for... decades). Obviously, I'm very excited about it. My wife has a laptop, and I'm always trying to squeeze in time on it. I think the wife and kids will want to steal this laptop off me for sure.

Any one else get an R3 refurb recently? Should I go over it with a fine tooth comb? Is there anything specifically I should be concerned about? Or, should I just be happy that I saved around $200 off a new one?

 

Might not help but just to put some ease to your mind a lot of people that buy refurbs usually are extremely pleased with their decision there are a few who regret it but that number is usually uncommon. You should be happy you saved 200 bucks Its a great machine from what I've played around with my neighbors (he also refurbed his) no issues. The only problem with his was his battery was slightly worn (about .5%) but everything else was spotless. You wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

 

I ordered an M11x R3 from Dell (not the Dell outlet) on Friday. Estimated ship date is 9/7 while the estimated delivery date is 9/12. Does anyone know if alienware still builds their pcs in Miami...because if that's the case, then I should be getting mine way sooner than 9/12 as I live just north of Miami.

 

My first Alienware should be here 13/9!! Looking forward to it.

Ordered mine Tuesday shipped today, but will probably be 2-3 days in transit.
Still can't believe how quick the turnaround was from ordering to shipped.

 

which model did you order? the R3 with i7?!?

i ordered the R3 on 9/7 and its telling me estimated delivery date is 9/21 and according to dells website its still "in production"

 

Ya, same here. I ordered mine on 9/11 and it's still in production... It says it'll be here on 9/26

 

Ordered the R3 i7, but I would guess you are stateside and so yours is being made in a different factory to mine

So i ordered it on the 11th and it said it would be here by the 26. now it says october 3rd. Way to go Dell. thought you were more professional than this.

 

Oh wow! Is there a Delay???

 

so just wanted to let anyone who cares know...
I called Dell and they said the delay was because of backed up orders so told them thanks and bye.
I called them a few minutes later and said i wanted to cancel my order. After a certain amount of days I learned you can't do that. They offered me $25 to keep my order(before they told me I couldn't cancel it). I said no. Then they offered me $80 to keep it. Then I said yes. Just a tip to anyone who wants to save a little bit on there over-powered netbook that's awesome.

 

Ordered my m11x r3 i7 on the 17th and it says del by the 30th. got my fingers crossed.

 

Got my machine in yesterday, ordered on the 14th.

 

They all come with the fat and long brick now.

 

does the m11x come with the restore disk? when mine comes in, i want to put in a better hard drive. also, has anyone tried out that seagate hybrid drive?

 

my del date was for the 30th but the fedex website says the 27th!! cool.

 

ordered on the 17th, just got my alienware m11x r3 in today!!!!!

 

Ordered mine on the 17th and it came in today. to bad im out of town. wont get to check it out til sunday!!

 

I got one of the older R1 models practically brand new for 575(Only thing it didnt have was the box).

Its specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.3 GHz(Im gonna OC it ofcourse)
NVidia GT335
4 Gigs of DDR3 1666 MHz RAM
250 GB 7200 RPM HDD

Ultimately I think I got a good deal, most of the used R1 models sell for around 450 - 500, I could have gotten it cheaper but I had been trying to snipe one out on ebay for a couple of days and decided to spend a little extra and just use the "Buy it now" option.

Should be here on Wednesday, looking forward to loading up some Fallout 3 on it.

Ordered mine on the 22nd! i5, 2gb RAM, 250GB - Replacement RAM (4GB) and HDD (500GB) are arriving at some point this week. Sadly my EDD is the 9th

I can't stop checking the order status!!

Checked with my works Dell account manager and he looked up my order for me, told me it would be a 6 day lead time!

 

Ordered my M11x R3 i5 on the 25th October 2011 and estimated delivery 10th November 2011, ahh I want it now!

I'll tell you what, this is my second M11x, with my first one I had a right run around with Dell concerning my M11x R1. I had to have a new keyboard repair 5 days after receiving the laptop. 3 months down the line, the rubber feet fell off, hinges cracked, system was freezing. Dell refused to replace so I insisted a refund which they got really difficult about.

Fingers crossed the R3 is the business :S

 

Yours shouldn't take too long, I ordered on the 22nd and it's been shipped as of today. So yours will probably be shipped either tomorrow or Monday and then arrive within 5-7 days!

Laptops waiting for clearance in Germany and then off it goes! Hoping it'll be with me soon! Afterall I have 8GB of RAM arriving tomorrow.

I think you got a better deal then I did! Mine was £605.99 (inc VAT & Delivery) and I have the same specs but with 2gb ram. I bought 8gb of aftermarket RAM for £37 though.

 

Haha nice one mate, good deal for the ram -- well it was really lucky -- base price went from £699 to £599 so I chose some upgrades and I had a 15% off coupon that ended 5 HOURS late -- yeah see I hope mine is really worth the money -- I could have waited until xmas to get an XPS 17 or M14x but mate, Im gonna be so happy when it gets here -- a GT540m benchmark at notebookcheck.com says crysis 1 on high at 30fps -- I will never be able to complain, in the future I might buy an SSD and some more ram, hopefully I might be able to buy spme Kingston Hyper-X -- Oh god im going crazy over this wait *checks for updates* xD

 

I purchased my M11x R3 i5 on 25th October and it's already in Germany!! Should be here on Monday 31st October, that's 6 days awesome speed!!

My setup was Neb/Red i5, 2gb RAM, 250gb hdd for £668, then got a quidco code 15% off with 10% cash back, this means the whole system cost me £533! i think that's a good price?
