@danabe -- Nice one, Hope it gets to you soon- 26th for me :L - I'd be surprised if yours got to you before mine but ehh *shrugs* depends on where we are
- My money is still on mine xD - although nice stats
-
*squeams* crysis on very high ^.^
-
My EDD was 9th Nov but my tracking is now showing delivery for the 2nd. My guess is you'll be looking at something like 4th/7th?
-
@ryan2107 nice well mine hasnt changed - still showing 11th november, which is a pita imo
- yours has a week cut off and mine is still EDD lool
-
It'll probably start to ship Monday/Tuesday. Mine didn't ship until Thursday (27th) when I ordered it on the 22nd. So it's around 4 days for build and quality control.
-
@ryan2107 thanks mate =) - that clears my mind a little bit
- but then its about 2-3 days for shipping right? - But as soon as it changes from In Production to shipping thats when ill be in the "AWESOME!" state =) - although, I'm still thinking wether or not I should have got it or wait until christmas - either way - the m11x is really portable and can play most if not all games on one type of resolution or more
-
Crysis 1 on high at 30fps is quite good for 11" init? -
&
@ryan2107 -- Yeah I guess
- 5 days is about right I guess, I'm on the 3rd day now - bought on 26th, at 27th 00:32 (ish) it was at "work in progress" I think -- So yeah 3 days
- Well I do hope to expect it soon though
- Cause I really wanna play on it
- the only bad thing I think with it is that you can do the keyboard rainbow - like on the bigger models and only just have 1 color - but either way
- still a lovely effect =)
&
@ryan2107 - I certainly hope that is a type "GTX540M 1GB" Because if it is a GTX card then I would certainly like to know what reseller you bought that from
(It's only GT540m
)
-
It was, I copied and pasted my desktop for each one and changed the parts, just missed off the X!
-
*Phew*'s because I would have missed out on a incredible deal hahaha
- but nah
- awesome mate
*M11x budds =)* - still though
- cant wait, I bought it for the fact that it can play most if not all the games I want to play on it at a reasonable level
- CSS / TF2 / DOD(s) / HL 1&2&EP1/2/DM /
- and best of all
- crysis / crysis 2 and metro 2033
- awesomeness =P -
EDD still the same, and no change from "In Production"
-
My M11x R3 turned up this morning

Should I stick in the 4gb of RAM I ordered before I turn on? Seems mental to be take it apart before I even used it, lol -
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG It's been updated on dells site
- I can track it via UPS
- I thought UPS was American - oh well
- think the U means universal so ehh I dunno
- happy happy happy
- Hopefully it comes soon
--- Latest update:
"Shipment Progress

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
Its not hard to take apart - theres about 7 screws on the plate on the bottom of it - that is in the shape of a square (the plate- except with a smaller square cut out at the corner) take screws out - then you see the ram sticks - there is 2 tabs you move to take the ram out - but
I WOULD WATCH a video FIRST before attempting, You can if you want to =) - but you can use whatever you have first
- omgomgomgomgomg I can't wait until mine gets here

Hit my first snag with Dell today
..
My order status was cancelled for some reason there was a logistic issue about the damn nameplate.
The sales guy restarted the order an my EDD is now back to N/A.. What a mess.. -
Just arrived today, 1 day before EDD, 2 boxes with one for the backpack. Im so happy..
-
This morning the first thing i did was check the status of my m11x and my m11x sleeve. The sleeve, originally scheduled to come in the 1st, came in today.. and my M11X i ordered Saturday night was marked as SHIPPED. I called Dell to double check and was told that its being shipped to the carrier. from china im assuming? The laptop is still marked to come in on the 9th but since its already on the way to the carrier is it safe to assume it'll come in sooner? much sooner i hope. I thought the build time was supposed to take ~ a week, not a day.
Has anyone else gone through this? And how long does it take to ship to the carrier normally?
The Alienware sleeve that came in is pretty sick.. I want something to put inside it. A toothbrush shall suffice for the time being.
*highfive*
EDIT- Forgot to ask in previous questions post.. Are the Nvidia drivers and whatnat all up to date when the laptop arrives?
*Another HighFive!* -
Put some cash in it yo! *highfive*
mine came with somewhat new yet newer available drivers. So update 1st thing.
Also, after mine was marked as shipped, took like 2days to arrive, in europe it had quite a long list, from China it gone to afghanistan which made me uneasy(lolol) then to poland or smth... had like 4 stops before getting to UK... got to UK early morning (like 4am on the tracking thing) and UPS dropped it same day pretty much. I was really satisfied, it arrived after a week and a half after ordering, a lot sooner than *estimated*
The thing is, i think the estimated arrival time is *worst case* scenario... like in holidays season etc. Anyways you should have it on day after the next. Start feeling anxious and getting sweaty pawns, i was mega excited following every VAN passing by the window
EDIT: *double highfive* -
I'd like to add myself to the list of M11XR3 ordered and waiting.
I will be traveling to India for hip surgery, I game at home on a M17XR2 (in sig), been playing Skyrim, I figured no need to put my gaming on hold while I am away, it will be 2 weeks in India, my M11X will get a lot of good use there
. Specs of my M11X in sig, estimated delivery on 12/12/11, I already received my messenger bag for it.
-
Throwing my Name in there for people waiting for M11x's.

My M11XR3 was scheduled for the 12 of this month but arrived yesterday! that's a whole 6 days ahead of schedule, that was a nice surprise
I loaded up Skyrim in it, running 30 to 50 FPS on high no AA, already loving it.
I was pleasantly surprised about minimum to no bloatware, very happy with purchase so far, only problem was I spent all night setting it up and installing my apps and programs, need to get some sleep. Great laptop! -
Just ordered mine awaiting for the email confirmation so i can just spamming my order status every 5mins.
-
I ordered the M11x on 11/30. The estimated delivery date was 12/13 and was delayed yesterday to 12/20. I suppose I should be happy it'll still arrive before the holidays.
I did order the SSD, bluetooth upgrade, sound card upgrade, and also got it engraved with my company name - so maybe that was a mistake on my part. I should have just upgraded to an SSD myself, and skipped any upgrades other than the i7 processor. -
The sound upgrade is only software, not an actual card so shouldn't be an issue there as well as the bluetooth and engraving. The only thing I could see causing a problem is if they possibly have a shortage of SSD drives. Thats a bummer though, I was checking for updates daily and would be bummed if I saw it delayed a few weeks.
-
Yeah, I also got the Sound Blaster software and the personalized plate, and I got mine 6 days ahead of projected date, but I got the 500GB 7200rpm hard drive. On another note, I may look into purchasing a SSD, I just read on the new issue of Maximum PC that SSD manufacturers are expected to lower the cost of SSD's to gain market share on their product and this way take advantage of the current shortage of Hard Drives due to the floods in Thailand. Looks like 2012 will be the year to even up the scales a bit in the SSD vs HDD market...
-
Wow that was fast ordered on the 7th December and its been shipped last night should be here tomorrow via UPS.
Quick turn around time? Hope the quality is good. -
So I called Dell today for a status on my 11/30 order. After being transferred a couple of times and holding for about 20 minutes in all, I finally got a super nice rep.
She explained the delay might be due to the SSD, but more likely due to the division I ordered from - I ordered from the employee pricing program (the company I work for buys tons of hardware from Dell); and apparently different departments (Home, Small Business, Governmant, etc...) keep different inventories. That means that if two people order the same exact configuration from two different departments, one may ship days ahead of the other.
The rep waived my shipping fees and changed my shipping to next day air. She also said she would be calling me every few days on a status until the item arrives, provided her personal extension and email, and said it's her goal to try and have the computer arrive by X'mas.
I was super amazed at the customer service, I never thought Dell would offer such service. -
It's out for delivery on the UPS van
-
I placed the order for my m11x r3 yesterday, Dec 15th and the tracking information indicates it will be delivered to me on Saturday! I chose the pre-configured model with the i7 processor that's currently listed on the Dell website. The engraved nameplate was not a deal-breaker for me. With my discount coupons, I was able to get the price down to $937 US.
Ordering the laptop on Thursday and getting it on Saturday was quite surprising.
Darin -
I did receive the m11x r3 today as indicated on my shipping info. The one difference I see with the unit I ordered, is it came with a standard type brick AC adapter, not the slimline one seen on other recent shipments. Not that it really makes much difference to me, but worth mentioning.
Already cloned the stock 500gb drive to a Seagate Momentus XT 500gb drive, and upgraded my Win 7 version to Ultimate. Runs everything I've thrown at it so far, including Skyrim at High settings.
Darin -
I actually received my system on December 15. The rep that I originally worked with kept me updated via phone and email throughout the process. I wasn't really annoyed it got delayed a few days, but continue to be amazed at the customer service from Dell.
I to, like dkerr24, also received a standard brick adapter - it doesn't fit well in the m11x messenger bag sold by Dell; yet, I don't mind, I'm loving the laptop and battery life is pretty good. -
Hey Guys!
So this past month I've been looking for a good laptop for the fact that I will be deploying to Afghanistan in February. I was going to get the Asus N53SV through NewEgg..but realized I didn't want to lug around a 15" laptop like I did in Iraq. Then I found the M11x R3. I was very skeptical with getting an Alienware but after reading reviews, I decided to take get it. It should be arriving on the 23rd at my parent's house which is the day my leave starts. I am excited!
Here are the specs:
Processor: Intel® Core i7 2617M 1.5GHz(2.6GHz w/Turbo Boost, 4MB Cache)
Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT540M graphics with 2.0GB Video Memory and Optimus
alienware.com says this configuration usually is $1390 but they are currently having the instant discount for this config so I got it for $1150 /wo tax. -
Quick ship model is now showing out of stock. Hmmm what now.. MBA , envy 17 Or wait for m11x.

It's the standard mid range config that came up on the EPP site (my company is eligable for some EPP). I paid £685.40 and estimated shipping is 12th of January 2012.
I'm buying this to replace both my HP DV3 and my HP mini 210. I based my choice on the review of the M11x on NBR and the fact that it's a small yet very powerful gaming machine that far eclipses my DV3 for power. I'll be playing SWTOR and STO on my M11x and this will me my first Dell/Alienware laptop, and most expensive ever laptop purchase.
I can't believe what a good deal this is from Dell/Alienware. An 11.6" laptop with a GT540M and i5 for £685! Barely an hour after discovering this deal I decided to go for it. Now I can't wait to play my games on high settings! -

The above has now shipped on 27/12/11 via UPS. I'm gobsmacked but very excited! UPS don't recognise the tracking number yet but it was only shipped this morning. I wonder when it'll arrive...

I ordered my M11 on the 24th as a pressy to myself and as a test for Dell because we've heard nothing, really, but bad about them and their 'service'. The test part comes in because my fella is also (well, maybe not now) going to order an M17x. But it's got to the stage where I'm really considering cancelling the M11. The only thing that's stopping me is the fact it's so unique, aesthetically, in it's market place and has such a good reputation as a machine in of itself.
I realise most people only say anything when something goes wrong, those customers who have had a good service from Dell/Alienware more than likely won't mention it online where prospective buyers like me will find it/look for it. So I can only go by what I've seen.
I didn't want a generic laptop, one of those typical silver/black boxes that everyone I know seems to have, wanted something with a little zest to it and the M11 struck me instantly as chunky and cute. It also, by all the reviews I've read, has a terrific battery life if you're not gaming (which I won't be unless you count Solitaire as a game) and mobility and usage whilst mobile were big priorities.
So, off I went and ordered the Nebula Red, got an email with it all listed. Checked, correct, sent it back to the sender as confirmation that I wanted to go ahead with the order and I then get an order confirmation for the Stealth Black instead. How the hell they cocked that up is beyond me but there you go. The Stealth Black instantly went to 'in production'. Emailed them, advised them of the issue, order cancelled by them, heard nothing for 3 days (granted; Christmas). Got a new email with a new order, sent it back again as confirmation, advised I'd be emailed 'shortly' with the order number, two days later (shortly??) and I've just received that email.
If this is an indication of Dell's Sales service (Sales usually bend over backwards don't they) then I'm cringing at the thought of ever needing to use the Customer Service Department.
I dunno, I really really want the machine, but first impressions of Dell aren't favourable at all.
Also, will it void any warranty, If I decide to go ahead with the order, if I add new ram? As we have 6 spare sodimms of ddr3 1333 laying around.
Apologies for the user name. Lisa was already taken and 'boomboom' is my nickname for my puppy. First thing I thought of.

Hi Lisa,
Shame your order didn't go as smoothly as mine which arrived on the 29th of December having been ordered on the 24th!
I believe Alienware (Dell) class RAM as a user changeable part but I think they do put yellow tape on the hard disk so it may be best to avoid changing that. -
Thanks Angel, funny thing is I've had an E-mail from Dell advising me of an update to the delivery....
(Haven't been able to check the status of the order for two days because the Dell website keeps coming up with an error screen)
The parcel is currently in the Shanghai Hub and is due for delivery on the 3rd of Jan. As turnaround times go, from the re-raised order to shipping, that's absolutely marvellous. So points to Dell for that.
I'm going to keep it, I'm too excited about the little monster not to.
And, being honest, after re-reading my initial post it does come across as me being a tad petty. Mistakes happen, so sod it.
He's just speccing his M17 now. But the cheeky so and so is also looking at the M18. -
Ordered mine yesterday, order processed today and it is now in pre-production. The ETA is 2/13 though, roughly a little over a month. I found that oddly high as an estimate, it seems from most of what I have read it usually takes like 2 weeks give or take. I ordered the i5, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, added xi-fi sound, deal came with killer wireless n, and added the bluetooth 3.0 on to my order. From experience do you guys think that it will really take a whole month? Or even worse see it delayed. Would kinda like to use it in class at somepoint this semester lol.
-
Finally done it and ordered a i5 m11x , EDD is showing as 27 march, for europe how accurate is this date ?
-
In the UK, ordered the i5 with an SSD.
Placed the order 27/02/12 and it's due to arrive 09/03/12.
All in all not great, but not bad and certainly nowhere near the EDD! -
Just ordered myself the M11x.
Should be interesting to see which one I receive first, the M18x or M11x. -
Not that this thread gets used these days but just ordered......
Eta- 30/3.
I know people will say the i7 is a waste of money but I wanted it so there!
I'm putting my own ram in I see dell still charge far too much.

I would have put your own SSD in there too, Dell still charges a markup of ~ $200 on their SSDs... From Dell Australia the 256GB SSD option is almost $600... That's more than i spent on my entire M11x R3 (before adding a 128GB Crucial M4 and some Kingston Hyper-X).
-
Its £270 in the uk which is a bit more expensive than buying it yourself but not by a great deal so not to concerned. The SSD choice in the uk with dell used to be silly money but they have reduced in price alot.
-
its here and its wonderful!........................couldnt be happier, well a m18x would be nice
-
I have an M18x and want an M11x
It's nice and powerful, but just so damn heavy.
I bike, so have to carry a change of clothes around most of the time, which means a backpack (I could buy some boxes for the bike, I guess), and the M18x needs a backpack all for itself. -
I have a M17x r2 and I just ordered my first M11x r3 for mobility purposes. Being military I move around and deploy a lot so the the M11x just makes more sense.
Probably look into selling my M17x r2 in my Sig soon.. still have til Oct 2012 on the warranty on it.
My specs on the M11x I ordered are:
Intel Core i7 2637M, 8GB Ram, 128GB SSD, and of course the Nvidia GT 540M 2GB GPU. -
m11x would be perfect for you! the ssd rocks! watch out for the sun however the screen is terrible in light conditions!
Ive been using it for 3 days now and love it, plays all my games with ease except cod black ops, that game will just not run smoothly? -
I ordered mine today! Still says Order Processing. Time to wear out the F5 key for the next week (ETA:March 30).
I got the i5, 4 RAMs may be enough. My R1 has 8 RAMs, but I may swap them if I think I need to. I'm told I won't need more than 4. In fact, CAN the RAMs be swapped between R1 and R3?
FYI, I ordered this over the phone from the Outlet, even though it's about 50x LESS convenient, hoping they'd still be able to give me 15% off (the 15% off over the phone ad appears to have expired yesterday). They did. Total cost was about $766. -
Just received my little guy.
Doing some upgrades to it now...like upgrade to windows ultimate. -
The R1 RAM is significantly slower, you wouldn't want to swap them.
Windows 7 Ultimate is hardly an "upgrade". If anything it's a downgrade because all it does is bog your system down with extra services and stuff for you to to remove/disable.
Unless you actually NEED the extra feature Ultimate comes with, there's not much point in doing it.
