M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Wow, if that was the US order and free next day shipping, you would have get it on the 15.

 

how are you people getting yours so early? i ordered mine on june 8 and the rep i talked to said i wont get it untill july 8. Didnt give me a discount but did give me free 2 day shipping. I live on the east coast of the US.
Anyone think ill get it any earlier? Does location have a factor?

 

If you order it w/ 1 or 2 business day shipping, I don't think there is any difference. Order should have been built on first come first serve basis and depend on part availability. 1 or 2 days shipping usually the same regardless of where you are, ground shipping on the other hand could make a big difference. Like newegg is based in California, if I order something from newegg and even w/ just ground shipping, I get it next business day also.

 

Yeah it would definitely depend on what options you went for.

I remember when I bought my xps1330 2 years ago, I got a call a few days after placing the order saying that there would be a delay in the order shipping because they were waiting for a shipment of more red tops for the computer. He said everything else was done except for that, wanted to know if I wanted to change colours for it to ship today. I wanted red so said no, so he gave me a free printer instead.

Obviously if one component is out of stock, it will hold the whole thing up. My order was an i7, 500gb hd, 4gb ram, bluetooth, lunar shadow if that makes any difference.

Also, I bought my system as soon as it appeared on the Aus website, keeping in mind that I'm in Australia, so when I ordered early on 9 June, it would have been your 8 June.

And yeah, we don't have the option for faster shipping. Computers from the Malaysian factory to here always take at least 1 week. The only option we have is after hours shipping.

My shipping update for my i7 m11x r2 to 06/17/2010 this Thursday so i am pretty excited about that and will keep you guys posted once i get my tracking info. Jun 9th late at night so under 9 days from order to delivery for the new r2 model is not bad at all.

hmm edd is 18th but still stuck in WIP, unless that changes today they weill miss the date as its 4 days from China to UK.

 

Status is "Arrived in Local Port".

I'm leaving the US on the 19th so will have to get it shipped again from the US to UK. Won't get it until half way through July at this rate!!! This wait is gonna kill me.

 

guys just ordered 15.6" anti-reflective screen protector to cut down on glare and keyboard has a history of rubbing and damaging the lcd... along with other small junk from mwave and artic silver which will die soon. 15.6" is 26.99 but with mwave club it is $9.99 then cut to fit and have some left over for mp3 players, camera and other lcd crap

i have plenty of cases but looking for something that is a slick deal for a sleeve or a small toploader bag of some sort not sure if i need one. Already picked up a 500gb ss-hybrid drive and have a alienware tact x mouse along with a laser bluetooth mouse also. Headphones i have the SD from newegg for Fatal1ty. what else guys!!!!

i7 with 4gb of ram. I left the name plate blank, since there was speculation that the custom name plates were causing slowdowns when the m11x first shipped.

Just ordered my M11x today. So excited for it to get here. I put "Nick-name's M11x" on the name plate. But wish I thought of something funny and witty to put on it. The EDD on it is 7/9

 

How much did you pay?

I thought the price was reasonable.

 

Anyone ordered the M11xR1 w/ custom nameplate? That way we know if the problem of delay order is coming from nameplate or hardware shortage.

 

I ordered my r1 last monday with my full name on the nameplate. Scheduled delivery is Thursday with overnight shipping.

 

One more thing that I wonder is, since the nameplate is actually user replaceable and if nameplate is what delay the order, why can't Dell just ship the dam notebook w/o nameplate and then ship the nameplate later?

I doubt that engraving the nameplate would delay the production of your laptop...at least I hope it doesn't. Had I known that I would've gotten nothing on it. does anyone know this for sure?

 

There have been a couple people in another thread who had custom name plates, and had there shipping date bumped up to the 6/17. So i doubt that is what is causing the delay. On the other hand they both had 160GB hard drives, so this could be what is speeding up the order. also next day shipping

 

Anyone in the Asia-Pacific Region (Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore etc) ordered an M11xR2?

I know a number of New Zealanders have posted about it, but haven't heard of anyone in this region having actually ordered one. I ordered mine yesterday from the Dell Malaysia website (I'm a New Zealander and will be flying into Malaysia to visit family). I haven't yet been issued a EDD, but I told the agent that I must receive the machine before 12 July (when I leave Malaysia). She promised me it would arrive before then... I went ahead and ordered.

All I know is my credit card has been charged, and my order has been registered by the Dell Malaysia website (but no EDD as it takes 2-3 days to register).

Would be good to hear if anyone else has ordered from the Asia-Pacific region, and what their delivery times are.

I ordered a M11xR1 on the 1st of June/31st May and had it delivered on the 11th of May here in NZ. EDD was the 16th of June.

 

Australia. I ordered early on the 9th. Etd was originally 2 July, through it was later made 22nd June. Mine is on a "plane" and has been since the weekend. I say this because no plane ride takes that long. Is prob still waiting an update refresh.

any brits or europeans had orders shipped for r2? My EDD is Friday but it hasn't even gone into production yet so expecting a push back - worried that it'll be a repeat performance of the initial m11-r1 orders that were delayed for no good reason.

 

Ordered an R2 yesterday on the Dell Canada website. EDD of July 09. Normally the wait would annoy the hell out of me, but I guess it gives me time to go through all these threads and the PDF manual. Not to mention, time to find and purchase a decent bluetooth mouse, anti-glare screen protector, etc.

Once thing I noticed is Dell Canada doesn't even allow for a custom nameplate. Is the default, standard nameplate just your name or nothing engraved at all?

 

default standard i believe is the name of the system so like m17x or m11x or m15x..

 

My R2 was just delivered by FedEx. Hopefully the mailroom will bring it over sooner rather than later.

 

In the same boat as you (again ) EDD: 18/06/2010 but still in "Work In Progress". I can't see how they are going to make it....

 

Got it. took 7 days from order.

I drove home at lunch even though it wa s a slim chance (could only stay 20 minutes)

Fedex showsed right when I did! tore out crap HDD and swapped ram, dropped in the momentus, sealed it up and sped back to work.

 

Now when you folks get the chance, BAD COMPANY 2! I'd really appreciate it .
