I just had a quick question, have we came to the conclusion that alot of the video studdering like on crysis, crysis warhead, bad company 2, and some intensive maps in like MW2 is because the cpu, (SU7300) couldn't handle them and that the i7 that can be turned up to 2.66ghz, shouldn't most if not all the probs be gone, I'm just wondering, thx guys![]()

Check the benchmark thread.
It's not going to help Bad Company 2 at all compared to the M11xR1, given that the CPU in that Asus is the "big boy" i7 using the same GPU that is in the M11x.
In short, if you want to play stuff like Crysis and Bad Company 2 with all the details turned up, this is the way wrong laptop for you.
I see an M15x or M17x in your future.
-
One thing that is interesting about that benchmark is that it scored almost exactly the same as the m11xR1 in 3dmark06
-
Yeah, I am insanely curious as to what we're going to get once a wide variety of games are benchmarked on the R2. Clearly it isn't going to make a lick of difference on graphical powerhouse shooters like BC2 or Crysis, nor older games like WoW, but Starcraft II? Possibly, due to the fact that it's not graphically intensive but is CPU intensive.
-
ha, ha ditto. @RichP74 stop reading my mind!
You put it so well...
Cause Alienware have given us access to games we never had access to before on such a small footprint device, people seem to get stressed when they can't max _all_ games to the limits.
Where did they get the idea they ever could?
I play Crysis on (medium-high) with CPU approx. 60% on an M11xR1(SU7300) and I have no problems at all.
Besides at higher levels, more frogs and chickens in Crysis just become a moral issue when you're holding a mini gun.
-
I'm surprised too. I feel like SC2 can benefit some and Wow I think cuz it's still CPU but overall maybe the GPU wasn't too limited by the low clock speed but number of cores (dual vs quad) since the i7-620m is fastest mobile dual and that barely makes a diffference in terms of gaming, yet an i7-720qm will make a big diff in many newer games.. hmm makes me rethink reselling my R1.
-
It should make a difference in games like GTA4. Hopefully. Those are CPU bound, like mad.
-
WoW there will be a big difference as WoW is highly cpu bound. SC2 not so much, but you should see a nice improvement.
-
Also people who ordered through EPP and the order has not shown on your Dell my account page, call them and have your order number so they can associate the order with your email address listed on your account.
-
what's going to happen if its not associated with our account?
(currently talking to a rep) -
Hmm...I'm thinking by the time I pay off my R1, I might buy an R2 just for giggles.
-
Nothing really, just more a pain to track status etc..
-
It's tempting to work some more during the summer and get the R2..
First I want to see some benchmarks and gameplay
.
-
I just used the EPP (In conjunction with calling) for my M15X order and I have an email confirmation with order/invoice # that allows me to track the status/progress.
-
So, call me crazy, but anyone have a guess as to how long the R2 will last before becoming unable to play the latest and greatest? I'm into BF:BC2 now, but that's just to hold me over until what I really want comes out: Battlefield 3.
-
since the R2 still won't play BC2 very well, BF3 is probably a reach. Prob expect similar performance and a need for 4 cores for best gameplay experience.
-
I hope Blizzard can keep Diablo 3 within the specs of the R2.
Or probably by then, Upgrades are available. -
So theres really nothing wrong with not seeing your order on dells my account page?
-
I guess diablo 3 will be fully playable in the R1 and R2.
Blizzard always keeps low the hw reqs. -
Right now, I don't think so. As long as we have our order numbers, i guess we're good.
jealous of wheresmystuff he's getting his R2 soon!
-
It depends on your definition of "playable." I can still play most new games on my 7 year old P4 3.2GHz desktop PC as long as I turn the video settings way down. I expect to have to make similar concessions to run future system-intensive games on this laptop.
-
Dell states 11 days for delivery... Hope I get mine before next Fri!
-
When did you place your order? -
A day ago/14th
-
is this beast avalible in canada website with i7
-
-
I don't mind turning the settings down. I already play things like L4D2 at 640x480 with everything set at the lowest, with some OS tweaks and config edits, and get 25-45 FPS... this is on my Intel X3100 IGP. It'd be nice to be able to play anything in the future at full resolution and a stable 40+ FPS. I value frames over image quality, as that's the major thing holding me back right now.
-
Anyone have pictures yet?
-
That's it, I'm calling Dell. It's like the place is run by 2 monkeys
-
I'm calling dell tomorrow to find out why some orders are going to take till the second week in July to ship when there are people already getting theirs now. What's the hold up???
-
What irritates me is that they follow no order. It's like they toss an order in wherever and if it's in front of an order that was ordered a week ago, so be it!
-
Yeah! It's not like I'm ordering out of the US or anything either. I ordered last week and was given an EDD of July 8th, and that's what I'm stuck with. Hopefully I can get something done tomorrow.
Probably wouldn't do any good to call tonight :/ -

Holy crap that's cheap!
Congrats! -
midgetdiablo, how did you get that setup at that price?
-
A few questions
1. Is there an i7 option for the fast track?
2. What is the final price for your fast track configuration with the $100 discount and EPP discount. The dell rep told me I would only get $20 off with EPP from the online fast track i5 config price. That sounded wrong to me. I already ordered a custom config R2 w/ i7 but I don't want to wait until July for the order.
3. Will we be able to upgrade the CPU to an 820 or 920 extreme series or is this i7 different from the normal i7's you see in the m15x and m17x R2?
4. Has anyone received theirs? Is the CPU and GPU in the same place as the current non i7 version? They are extremely hard to get to. First thing I want to do depending on how difficult is is.... cover my GPU and CPU with IC Diamond 7 Paste -
I don't think I'm allowed to post it on NBR, just do a little research on the slickdeals website. you'll find it
-
Not sure which one it is
Wanna PM it to me?
-
Yeah, I really hope Dell just isn't tossing these new orders ahead of the other ones. I think that they are too lazy to update the delivery date until it is shipped, so hopefully the dates will start turning over more rapidly soon.
-
Oh if they are there is hell to pay in free stuff >.>
-
Yeah I looked on slickdeals but couldn't find anything like the deal you posted. I used the 10% EPP and $100 off, but that's nothing compared to what you got! Would you mind sharing how you got that insane deal for the rest of us? I just placed my order tonight, and it hasn't gone through yet, so I wouldn't mind cancelling and ordering again for a much better deal.
-
He's probably talking about the Boeing discount...he either has a family member/friend who works at Boeing or lied about knowing someone who works at Boeing~
-
haha you guys aren't looking hard enough, and no i'm not affilliated with boeing.
-
maybe before tax. and the hard drive is 160 GB,, $45 less than 250GB,, if you add it up, it will reach to 900+. He might have done the EPP + coupon Deal.
-
Nope that's the final total price after tax. All I'm going to say is it's possible for anyone to get the price I got. You just gotta look
-
I'm guessing he got 10% EPP and $100 off EPP coupon and another $100 other coupon that stack. And maybe he got no sale tax from where he is. I'm thinking at the time we place the order, there is no another $100 stackable coupon.
-
Aha! Dell preffered account, additional 3% discount on top of EPP and Coupon, PLUS you have TAX-exempt number from your work or affiliation.
-
Man I'm just a student I don't get benefits from a job
when I say anyone can do it I mean anyone can do it
-
LOL how should I know.. I'm just guessing. haha but yeah, I commend thee for a job well done in getting an awesome price and deal for your M11X!
-
When you say, anyone can do it, is that mean anyone can do it w/o breaking some kind of term of service, like lying about EPP eventhough you are not qualify? Or you just mean anyone can do it, even if it mean you have to lie?
