You see thats the problem with listening to other people. They cleary said the maximum was 92 and the average was 54.![]()
Which can be fixed with a clean install and they didnt say what settings they used.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW THIS
----> Dell specifically states on the m11x page
"-1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 335M
-Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (5-series) (M11x Core i5 only)
-Dynamically switchable with NVIDIA Optimus Technology (M11x Core i5 only)" -
Soft-touch was a very nice bonus. It's supposed to make it feel as rugged as the M17. Can't wait to get one. I'm curious on the overclocking part. I hope they don't mean just the Turbo overclock but an extra one. If so, then it's i5 all the way for me.

New Zealand M11x web page has been updated.
The SU4100 and SU7300 remain the same.
The i3-330UM, i5-520UM and i7-640UM have been added.
The i5 is only USD43(NZD65) more than the original SU7300, which is now the price of the i3.
The i7 is priced at USD240(NZD362) as an additional upgrade on the base price.
Good selection for New Zealanders, giving them the choice of five different processors.
I'm glad I got mine ages ago, as there is almost to much choice now. -
I plan to order my M11x R2 (with Core i7) from Dell/EPP over the phone tonight (US).

Ugh...debating on selling my R1 to get core i7 R2...

I actually am taking delivery of the Core 2 Duo model tomorrow. I had briefly debated sending it back for an i5/i7, but my luck with new Dell laptop models is not great. I'm also rocking a Studio 1747 with an i7, and it's great for the database work I do in it, but it runs SUPER hot and isn't the most reliable piece of hardware I've ever owned. It's already had a motherboard swap. It reminds me a lot of being a first-generation Xbox 360 owner, honestly.
The fact that they bumped the power supply in the i5/i7 M11X is not a good sign. The fan in those units is going to run much more often than the C2D since it's the same chassis, and while I'm sure they will be faster, I just want a small notebook that is quiet and runs most games out there at reasonable settings.
I'm not really what I consider a price sensitive consumer; if they had bumped the GPU, it would be a much more compelling reason to send my C2D M11x back. But this smells like a marketing bump more than anything.
When I first saw that they'd bumped the specs on a laptop I'd ordered 6 days ago I expected to call Dell this AM and have them get me an RMA for when it shows up, but after going over the above in my head I really can't say that is the case. I don't think it is worth the extra weeks I would have to wait, forget about the extra cost. -

I'm finding the i7 ULV 620m to be depressing. I'm planning on getting an m15x with the i7-620m and apparently the ULV can overclock to 2.66ghz while the regular 620m is the same clock speed.

@ Erawneila:
Are there any changes in the chassis design? Any change of materials used or is it still aluminum or whatever alloy used in the previous gen? -
Apparently (on EPP) upgrading to a 7300 adds $0.00 lol
On another note, has anyone called about ordering via EPP? If so what prices were you quoted? -
I hate to ask, but what is the big benefit of Optimus?
I've had my R1 for a few days now and love it, but if I can spend $150 and get a big bump, I might have to return it and wait another month... -
Is it released on the US/Canadian sites yet?
-
-
-
It'll be interesting to see what sort of Windows Experience Index (WEI) these new systems get.
I wonder how much over 4.6 they can go.
I guess...now we wait.

Hello, i'm new!
I have been following this forum for months, and finally diceded to join it, I really think you are a great comunity, and i'd like to be part of it.
Now, on with the topic:
I've seen that the i7ULV in the M11x does drain nearly as much power as the i5 and both are said to be more power efficient than the C2D and Pentium dual core R1 had.
Is that really possible? I mean, for what I understood a higher GHz meant a higher power consume. - I know they have a higher TDP, but that is not related to power consume.
If I could get the same battery life from the i7, comparing to i5, or aproximately the same I would think twice my choice... because having battery life is as important as power, for what i need it.
Also, is the 256Gb SSD from dell a good deal? I am thinking of buying a 120-160Gb from intel, which means aproximate savings of 200-300EUR!! But I would like to know your opinion. -
My Rx1 ought to be arriving in the next few days (cleared customs and at the 'main hub')... think I'll hold on it as opposed to returning it though. -
is it for both i5 and i7 option or only for i5.
And also, do you have any rough numbers for fps increase in CoD and L4D2?
Thanks. -
The SSD dell provides is not really worth it, go for an intel G2. -
question I have is will the i7 work on plane power? and does the UK version have WWAN aeriels?
-
It will work fine on "plane" power. I guess what you mean is that most plane plugs are limited to 180 watts.
-
Does anyone have any promotional codes to save a bit of money?
-
Aww, no soft-touch finish? -
The Core i5/7 version isn't on the Small Business site yet either. -
Though, that said, I have ordered a Zagg M11x protective skin thing (transparent, like their iPhone ones) to protect the outside -
HMM just went to US Alienware Dell site and core i5/i7 were fully customizable and you could get soft-touch finish.
-
What's with the soft touch... I for one, would like the metal casing like on m17x.
-
-
-
I didn't get "Display port has replaced VGA port", both of them already exist on R1. Not a big thing I guess... but VGA port is still useful (I used it to connect to my monitor).
-
Probably find it's 'soft touch' anyway as there is a possibility the New Zealand web page doesn't reflect the true nature of the device.
And besides the new model loses the VGA so I'm guessing there's not three colours for the new model.
Mind others are saying only Americans get the 'soft touch'.
On the NZ site you have the option of no nVidia GPU. Or the option to upgrade for $0.00. The default is no nVidia GPU. I can see the after purchase conversation with Dell now.. I'm sure you get one anyway. -
hey let us m11x r1 users get SOMETHING over the R2
-
-
want to palce order but remember the suckers who ordered early for the previous one getting theirs really late
-
I sent an email to Dell NZ requesting if they can get the soft touch option, sounds pretty nice to me.
Other than that, yeah I've been waiting for this refresh. Very keen to pick it up -
are the new processors going to make that much of a difference with regards to gaming, and does any1 have a rough idea of how the battery life will be affected ?
-
Is the performance boost high enough to justify the price difference of $150 between the Core i7 640UM and the Core i5 520 UM processors? Also is there any difference in the power consumption between the two?
-
-
2) Equal or worse. The TDP of SU7300 + GMA graphics and Arrandale with GMA on-package is roughly similar. However when the Arrandale overclocks it OCs both CPU and GMA; in the older iteration only SU7300 overclocks. The alleged bump in the PSU is also an ominous sign.
Unless you happen to be encoding video on your m11x or doing a spot of folding, the rev 2 is likely to be more expensive, have a lower battery life and give only a marginal boost in real life performance.
I've said this before - what's the fuss? If you don't have an m11x buy the rev 2. If you do have a rev 1 your machine is likely to be a superior performer in the real world. To put it more prosaically, they will give you identical gameplay experiences in Modern Warfare 2 (remember the human eye can only discern about 30 fps tops). Only the more expensive rev 2 will probably have a worse battery life.

order in for the i5, don't think the i7 is work the extra 200quid here in the UK.
Really getting this for the Nvidia drivers more than anything else, so anyone wanna buy a barely used M11x R1 ?lol - my wife will gun me down when she finds out!
Cheers,
Neil. -
mmmm gave the US EPP Dell a call and tried to haggle a little bit and it seems like they aren't moving at all...I got a freaking $10 off lol....the coupons I was told don't work for the I5, I7 because they are "new"....oh geeez lol. Anyone else have any luck?
-
-
Any idea if I can use my ram from my r1? I have 8gb, and plan to short the new one ramwise and just swap it, then sell the r1.
-
yea i think you will be able too. I thought about this but thought thta most people will want 4GB which is what I have in the current one and what I've speced in the new one.
