thx, i uninstalled flash as you suggested and installed active x and flash 10.1 beta 3. i can now view 1080p on youtube and seems fine, but it still lags up when i maximize to full screen... any idea what might be going on? is it just a problem with incompatibility of the screen? weird cause, as i said, it seems to play mostly fine when i just view it in the browser, still at 1080p, just not full screen

Where is the nvidia control panel for M11x? Why is it an intel graphics panel?

Its an intel if you're running the IGP. Swap to the GT to get the nvidia panel.

Ok I don't understand this. My 2 year old crappy hp laptop has a processor score of 4.5, memory score of 5.5, and hard disk score of 5.7. How is this possible, shouldn't the m11x be much higher than my hp, which has an AMD Turion 64 x2 at 2.0 ghz, 2 gb ram, and a 500 gb toshiba hd (pretty sure its 7200 rpm).

People really need to stop comparing 14"+ laptops to this computer which is an ultraportable. They also need to start focusing on actual performance for things they run then benchmarks. Benchmarks are there to give you an idea, that is it.

If you aren't running an SSD, all 2.5" HDD should have similar performance really.

So overall which is the beter processor..I'd expect an Alienware should be better than a 2 year old hp.

@jabij5 = The AW's obviously. Would your hp last 7 hours on a single charge? Would your hp not heat up even when a discrete graphics card is in use? Its not waaay faster but it makes gains elsewhere (heat production, energy consumption).

In short, the M11x makes the first headphone port the 1st and 2nd channels, the second headphone port the 3rd and 4th channels, and it's microphone port into the 5th and 6th channels (one is base, hence the .1). By default, when you plug anything into the ports, the realtec drivers will pop up a page allowing you to select the port as an audio out for 5.1.

the AW is better but you're talking about the windows rating right? the reason the rating is low is because of the CPU clock i would assume. but the AW is most likely going to perform the crap out of it because of the 335m graphics

i intend to buy the m11x (sorry for the late decision) but.....
i need to know one thing- if i dont keep in mind ,the ultra portability of the laptop and consider only the performance aspect ,is an hp dv6 1154tx a better option as it is in the same price range(in india).

Um are you comparing windows 7 scores to 7 score on your old laptop? Or does it run vista?

I believe vista has different scores since it's older. As for hdd that 5.3 is a 5400rpm drive. 7200rpm score 5.9 in win7 and ssd usually around 7.0. So maybe your memory is higher cuz vista or its clocked higher than 800.

SWEEET! I know a couple people have mentioned about the lack of volume up/down on screen display - how it only shows mute. Well I found a new OSD that works great. it's exactly like the OS X volume up and down, even has the same sounds lol. It's skinnable so it comes with other skins if OSX volume OSD isn't you're thing. This paired with smartkeys has my F7, F8, F9 all media keys at the ready of a touch of a button rather than needing Fn+

so i just fit in my novatel eu850d 3g hdspa modem into the wwan slot and used the sim card slot on the side of the unit and after some messing around to get mobilink to work with windows 7 everything works perfect

the eu850d modem has a built in sim card slot also but i wanted to check the m11x side slot. so the wwan modems without the sim card slot may work. i havent got one to test so i can only guess at this.

now my problem is to fit the antenna in the back of the screen somehow and from how it looks the screen looks like it wont come apart without a fight.

i might have to settle on something that doesnt involve voiding my warranty especially with the problems some members have been having.

If you take ultra-portability out of the equation (as you've done above by now comparing an 11.6" vs. a 15.6") - then you can find a whole slew of computers that would outperform the m11x. Heck - you can get a Core iX for cheaper on certain laptop deals now available... just depends on what you're looking for.

If you keep ultra-portability in the equation - the closest unit I've found is the Sony Z - which is ~$500-$1k more expensive, depending on the configuration that you order.

This is NOT a regular laptop - you can't compare it (well you can - but it's kinda of a silly comparison) to a 13+" laptop...

Is the cosmic black colour a shiny fingerprint magnet? or is it a matte finish that wont show fingers? would the grey colour be better for not showing fingerprints?

Correct - when they replaced my screen - they shipped out/replaced the entire screen, lid and all as a single assembly.

If you don't order the m11x with the GOBI antenna - then there is no way to add an aftermarket antenna without some form of extreme modification to the laptop.

You'll see fingerprints on the black - however, I've a feeling that scratches will show up a LOT easier on the gray (at least once you finally scratch it)...

If you keep a cloth with it.. fingerprints aren't that bad.. depends on if you're eating potato chips during your gaming session or not.. :D

Not sure, like I said the occasional video does still lag at ouch with Intel, however I've never seen lag with the 335 (sometimes hulu glitches but i think hulu is just glitchy in general)

I'm running all of this in the Chrome browser.

You can also get an Asus model at bestbuy that actually looks a little similar to the m11x styling.

It's much cheaper on Amazon, was linked a few pages back in this same thread.

I have the Asus model and it runs off 1usb and is SILENT

Very Disappointing, as the entire reason for me to consider this purchase is as a WOW raiding machine when im on road.

If you are seeing sub 25 in 10 man raids 25 man will be sub 15 or close to it...bah..

Time to keep looking...really wanted to get one of these little babys

My point is I dont want to raid 25 man content with the settings turned down so this machine is simply not the right one for me..no big deal but i will need a machine with the same GPU and just a little more processor...

Life is full of tradeoffs, i wanted this to work but it wont.

Think the other guys would know how to optimise WoW for this machine in due time. As for getting something else, you're settling for a lesser GPU, larger footprint or higher pricepoint. Besides, some people are reporting better results on the machine by using an SSD instead of the platter HDD. Hard to say that its the CPUs fault mate.

Or you could always wait for Rev2 which reportedly has iX processors. :D If you have the time that is. :D "august/october 2010" ahem ahem
