One of the things I'm trying to figure out. I know it's possible since it's done at the factory. Just gotta figure out how.

Yeah, do a search for alienware wallpaper. Or alienware logon. I used tweak's logon changer to add mine. I also used gimp to color shift the background so that it's now blue instead of red. Fits the lighting I have set better.

The 194 drivers don't play very nice with IGP.

Sorry for being late, but yup, that's the tool I'm using. The instructions are pretty detailed, but keep in mind as soon as you sync the controller to the PC, you lose the sync to the PS3.

Well did any of you see a performance boost using the 196 drivers? I know there is a huge one with the recent beta drivers and Bad Company 2. But if there is no performance boost then there is no use sacrificing the battery life right?

Personally I haven't tried it out, and I'm kinda reluctant to. I enjoy having a 6+ hour battery life on IGP, and not having to bring my power supply to school with me .

quick question, how do you know if your laptop is shut off if the battery is recharging? Does the battery recharge when the laptop is off?

The battery should continue to recharge while off until it's full and I would think that it'll stop the process once complete. You can check the status of your battery charge while the laptop is off from the bottom of your m11x where there should be a battery indicator.

yeah i know about the battery indicator but i want to know if there is an indicator showing that it's charging. Like every laptop I have shows that my AC adapter is plugged in. Usually showing a blue or orange light, when my battery is fully charged the light dissapears.

So with the m11x there is no real way of telling that the battery is fully charged when the laptop is powered down?

Ordered one today from BB, will be here in a few day.

It was 2x the price of the Mx11 and thats pretty silly, but as a WOW addict...i dont use rational thinking when discussing my Gear Score or epeen.

Would make it difficult if the lid is closed wouldn't it? I would have likedto think the alien head on the lid would them perform the same as the power button but that's only being lit by the screen right?

The street fighter 4 was benched with vsync ON (which means the max fps was only 60), so it was not valid.

Its a different class of laptop. Its expected to perform better to justify the doubling in price. Plus with the SSD and the processor outclassing the stock C2D and platter combo, people would expect the Z to totally smash the m11x into bits so small even the LHC can't find it.

Well I would expect games like WoW to run slightly better on the sony, but at the same time the screen resolution goes up while the GPU goes down.... I'm curious to see the real-world results. It might honestly break even. You may still only get 20-30fps in dalaran with the Sony.

Tough to say. I had the S-XPS 16 with I7, 4GB, and a better GPU then the sony has and it was at about 40fps in Dalaran at 1080p.

I guess it would be justified if this were to be his main machine for WoW and wanted the best looking graphics you can get on a portable machine, but I would be happy enough toning down the detail/graphics in WoW while performing 25 raids if it handles it well.

So the sub contractor from Dell called me today and asked what was it that I needed done to my laptop. So I told him that there was crap under the screen so I needed a LCD replacement. Then he told me that it looks like they sent him a Hard Drive, hahahaha. I should of asked him if it was the SSD. If it is I'll ask him to bring it over and I'll be happy with that speck in the screen.

Wooooo!!! I am officially an owner!

Oh my science! I love it! I can't believe how zippy it is!
    This thing is awesome!
Bioshock 2... All high native res.... I am impressed. Bit of slowdown with bosses but nothing a few tweaks and gpu oc won't fix!

I can't wait to chuck an SSS in this baby!

The build quality is awesome. No problems with fan noise. no clicky screen hinge. No problems at all.

Got to love that reflective screen tho lol

    honestly I love it!
    Can't wait till r2!

Ok so can someone tell me how to pair my PS3 controller w/ the bluetooth dongle? I tried the motioninjoy drivers and was successful only by using the usb cord method... is there an easier way to do this? I would rather avoid the wires if I can... I have already tried that little program for unsigned drivers etc and can only get it to work while it's hooked in to the usb port. If anyone has gotten this to work wirelessly please give me some hints other than to search for the motioninjoy drivers on google. Thanks!

When changing the log in screen with this App, is there something I need to do first? It says " Access to the Path...xxx...denied"

I found the pic that is the default Win 7 login screen (fresh install so not the Alienware one) and it says I don't have permission from "TrustedInstaller"

Is there a fix for the fn+f2 problem yet? I've searched the Alienware website with no success.

Anyone else having a problem disabling the battery charge option?

My WSAD keys are sorta being worn down coz they're the keys I use the most, despite the fact that I try to wipe them so often with a microfibre cloth and wash my hands so damn often to make sure they're not greasy or whatever. =_=

    Nephand,

Regarding your issue with the clicking hinge, I had it too but I was able to fix it. On the bottom right hand side of the screen, check if the plastic bezel is flushed with the LCD, mine wasn't. Once I made sure it was all flushed, the clicking hinge went away. Hope that helps you.

    1. Power off the system and disconnect the AC Power cable from the rear of the system.
    2. Remove the bottom panel to get to the battery.
    3. Disconnect the Battery - no need to remove it (leave the motherboard battery alone).
    4. Turn the system over and depress and hold the power button for a 20 count.
    5. Reconnect the battery to the MB and close up the system (bottom panel).
    6. Plug in the AC power cable and start up.

If the problem is ongoing its time to call Dell Support.

I know how to pair ps3 controller with 32bit windows XP/Vista/7, but not 64-bit OS. Therefore I only ordered 4GB RAM and am prepared to install a 32bit OS for the m11x.

By the way, are there 32-bit driver available for m11x yet?
