Frankiegamer4, since that is a built in feature, it is supported by Dell. You need to call and get a replacement. I wouldn't delay in calling either. It shouldn't do that. I pretty much run mine overclocked 24/7. Others have had the same issues you have and have been able to get a replacement. Sorry about your luck man :(

Jesus christ I'm watching YouTube video's, and reading forums about this laptop, and now I've reached the "the anticipation is killing me" point.

Agreed. Im not going to expect it to be something it isn't. I'm just enjoying it. Running benchmarks at the moment :D Raising the bar ;)

It's an awesome little power house. First laptop I've actually used on the battery regularly. Might be my favorite part about it, battery life.

33/50 in my opinion. Vertical viewing angle are just absurd. Basically like a clutch - only one sweet spot the rest are useless.

    Yes i do agree.
This screen is the worst i have seen since a long time...
Simply you can use this computer in a dark place not in direct sun because of the reflections....
    Why Dell, Why ?

For a computer of this price range it is unacceptable.

No complaints about the screen here, except that it's very shiny so it takes some movement to set it up in the right position outside on the sun. I don't know what lines you are all about. In fact it's a really nice screen, a bit better than the one I have on Dell m1330 XPS. I'd give it at least 40/50.

    AC adapter output is: 19.5V, 3.34 A max. So the maximum power output is I believe: P = V * I = 19.5 V * 3.34 A = 65 W.

Anyone know if the ibm ssd x-25 40gb drive would be enough space for windows 7 (with bloatware removed) and 1 game (say crisis or dawn of war 2)?

Although I have found no real lack of cpu power using the su4100 I don't belive that We will be returning back to the days of using windows XP.

Where I would want a I3 core is when running FSX with addon aircraft from PDMG. It runs these at a slower frame rate than the planes that come with FSX.

Flying coach is where you find out if your laptop has a big enough battery for you and also finding out that a 17" laptop on a 16" tray table is no joy at all.

I actually found 335M Drivers for XP, but tried installing it and it didn't work. I was doing it for benchmarking purposes. Maybe it had something to do with the discs I was using, but one wouldn't find a disk to install to, and the other didn't work, can't remember the reason. I had created a partition for it to set up a dual boot, Win XP and Win 7. All I really needed to work was the 335M.

The CPU is soldered in. Not sure anyone is going to go through the trouble of trying to replace it, otherwise I'd have already done it. Not to mention you would need BIOS support for any other CPU you wanted to put in it, and quite possiblly a BIOS hack for more voltage. I'd only do it for benchmarking, otherwise, I'm happy with the current CPU.

Call dell, have them replace the unit, your not the first. Theres not much we can do about overclocking (yet) at least from a software aspect. Maybe one day some brainiac will stroll in here with a hacked bios. Until then I'll continue to try and raise the benchmarking bar.

Anyone got any idea of a Flight Adapter I could use with the M11x?

    Edit:

What I mean is, does anyone know of a comparable laptop I could use?

I know the Kensington would work, but I'd like to know if I could get a Cube, or the like/

i called Dell three times already..one of the tech support guys was really helpful.. the other two were jerks! they said overclocking was my fault! and that its my responsibility if i mess up the system.. they also said "until you damage your system, we can replace it" so that means i have to fry my laptop until i can get a new one! i will call again tomorrow...

There is no reason for you to accept the system which does not perform as advertised. Dell's order sheet says the processor can be overclocked and the bios has been designed to make it possible. Dell is even specific on the speed to which you can OC. Stick to your position and demand resolution. Don't accept less than you were promised. If you must, escillate your call.

Trying to PM you, no contact info showing.

I do plan to do this and would appreciate your insights. I'm buying a 1.5TB main drive when they release this summer and I'll need a good backup solution. This was my intended means of overcoming the absence of eSATA. Gigabit transfer should be faster than the .48 USB2 or the .40 Firewire, but that's strictly based on theory. Shame we don't have USB3 or eSATA; I'm just trying to squeeze the speed out so I can do full drive backups on that volume. I could do incrementals, but I'm lazy and prefer full system backups. ;)

    Ok.

My experience is as follows: USB and eSata work perfectly ok. However, the plus on this NDAS should be the ethernet port.

First of all, it is a NDAS device, not a NAS. Iocell seems to promote this as an advantage, as it does not need tcp/ip. In order to obtain access to the drive via ethernet each computer needs to have the iocell software installed. This means that the data on the disk is not available for streaming to media players/tv's etc. This is a very big disadvantage.

Also, the speed is disappointing. First of all, after installation of the software, Vista/Win 7 need 20 seconds longer to start up and shut down. Direct speed (wired, Gbit) gets around 30 MB/s for me. When I connect through my router (Wireless N) the speed is only 5 MB/s. When I connect a second pc to the disk at the same time, the speed even drops to 1 MB/s. I have a very old NAS (Linksys NSLU2) which only has 100 Mbit ethernet, but this one performs a lot faster and can stream media etc.

My drive is no longer used via ethernet, as it performs terribly. Now I just use it as an eSata/USB external disk. I bought is a recplacement for a standard 1TB WB MyBook with the idea of having it via ethernet and connecting multiple laptops etc via wireless N. Did not work out.

Summarizing, stay away from these products as they have major downsides. Go for a NAS with higher real speeds and which can stream media.

If you would still like to buy one of these items I can offer mine for sale (351UNE with 1,5TB Samsung Drive 7200 rpm)

===Update== It did come with a Seagate, dont know what the invoice meant.

Just got my invoice, the 500Gb that comes in the M11x is a Toshiba.

    1 984TP Hard Drive, 500, S2, 7.2, P11, 2.5, TSHBA-LC

Thats actually not bad, even though the Seagate has impressive specs, I found a couple real world tests that say the Toshi is a better drive.

Anyone see that new AsusU30JC-A1 review. Packs the i3, about 1600 higher in pcmark than the m11x. Doesn't the i3 pull like 3x the watts as the SU4100 and 7300? Can't be kosher for battery life if it was in the m11x.

Just got mine a week or so ago. been loving it so far. no problems that i have seen, the CPU OC fine. Although there is one weird thing that ive noticed with my unit, when my laptop is 100% fully charged, and i unplug the AC, the battery meter changes from 100% to 95% instantly (on balanced power for both). I have already gone through a few charge cycles to ensure the battery has been "broken in". anyone else having this issue?

I'm just talking about the processor, that the core i3 would have put out a bit more. Would have also sucked more power though, at least from what I can tell from how much it pulls power wise.

Sup, guys! I haven't been on nbr for a while, and, needless to say, it's good to be back. Sadly, I'm back because I have a question lol Anyways, long story short, I found a few alignment issues with the screen and also found that the screen hinge made cracking noises. Due to those problems, I contacted Dell with a firm resolve that they MUST replace my laptop at all cost (none of that "come-in your house to fix your laptop" junk). Well, it has been a month now and the replacement has finally landed. My question is what do you do with the faulty laptop? They didn't give me any information on how to return the faulty laptop, no return labels, no nothing. For those of you who have had experience in this endeavor, what did you guys do? I just got the replacement today. How long does it normally take Dell to contact you? Thanks, guys!
