This is a bit off topic but as a owner, I'm starting to regret buying this due to the recent news of the nvidia ion 2 chips in the upcoming netbooks. They are claiming 10 hours of hybrid graphics switching from the optimus technology. And the chips can handle 1080p hd movies and most mainstream games in the netbook. I know the difference is the graphics card and cpu (pinetrail vs su) compared to the m11x. I'm just hoping that I don't regret the price difference. Then again, all this is up to your computing habits. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the quick response :) Any Idea why though? It's 2 seperate chips right, so why disable them both with the Wi-Fi? :( If I disable BT will the Wi-Fi stop as well?

The M11x includes a cloth type sleeve. It's nice to wipe the screen with, keep it from getting scratched, and from immediate dirt. It offers zero padding protection.

Had my M11x for about 1 week now with 0 major issues. My GPU always stays at around 42-45 degrees Celsius while Idle.I just Downloaded Coretemp and decided to take a look at my CPU temps...Just browsing the web I'm at 46-52 degrees Celsius? Is this normal? Also my fan kicks on every 2 minutes or so but I see this is common, thing just feels really warm to the touch all around regardless.I'm OC'd btw.

I saw the fan fix, that isn't what is bothering me though. My temps seem a bit high for such a new system and no real stress on it except for Firefox.I just downloaded Speedfan as well and it is showing slightly lower temps for the CPU?I've been out of the loop for awhile so I don't know which one to trust :(

Just a word of warning to all M11x users:

The plastic surrounding the trackpad where your palms rest is a total grease magnet. If you have any grease on your hands (oil from fingers or small oils left from food) it will get absorbed into the surrounding plastic. I've got 2 small grease marks on both sides of the computer when I lifted it up after eating , i believed my fingers were clean but the grease is absorbed now in the plastic and it seems i can't get it out :(

so watch out!! make sure your fingers are grease free every time you use the machine; it's easy to get lazy, don't

ATM nothing. M11x is using a hybrid driver of Intel and Nvidia (for the dual graphic cards inside) and uninstalling the current set prevents one of the cards from being seen and having drivers installed properly.

This is from people who have tried so far. Maybe someone can figure out a work around soon.

i dont care about the intel card

I was thinking formatting the machine and then disable the intel one from bios/device manager and then install nvidia drivers for the card.

On another question what RAM ships with the unit from dell?

As i would ideally like 8GB gaming memory but cant find any

Dox drivers are 195.68 and I can switch between both IGP and GPU. They work great too in game. Got some benchmark numbers in the official thread.

If you don't care about IGP then you can prob install any newer modded driver. The DOX ones I installed had a hybrid gfx patch.

I received my Canadian order a while back and it doesn't appear to have blu-tooth included. Sigh. What would I see in the Device Manager if I had blu-tooth included?

If I really don't have it, any idea how I should go about adding it? Should I try to get the part from Dell? Or should I just go with a usb receiver?

I should say that the reason I wanted blu-tooth is a cheap way to add a remote control for Media Center functionality... I've heard I could use the PS3 blu-tooth remote as Microsoft no longer makes the official remotes.

Other than that, I should say I'm really happy with the m11x. It does everything else I could hope for. No performance issues with the games I use... wow and coh

I thought the same thing of mine, but I had to turn the wireless on. If your startup has the bluetooth icon( program ). Then you have bluetooth. Hit FN and F3. It should work then.

I have no idea why (I've always thought it was because of the fact when you take your laptop on a plane all wireless connections must be off, including bluetooth)

I haven't received my m11x yet, but when I manually disable the bluetooth it doesn't stop my wi-fi on my HP hdx dragon.

at least its not glossy like the XPS 16 , i had that thing a week and it drove me crazy. Sold it on ebay. The Cosmic Black is gorgous, but I wish I had the gray version. Fingeprints get on the lid also. But i can live with this. I am thrilled with this badboy.

I don't have a bluetooth icon in the start menu... I also tried reinstalling the bluetooth drivers/software from the Dell site. It then asked me to turn on wireless to proceed. I did and nothing bluetooth related happened... although the wireless did turn on/off... Crap. I checked this morning and there's still now way for Canadians to order an m11x with bluetooth via the Dell site and there's no indication that it's part of the specs.

So I guess a buyer-beware for Canucks... unless I'm a total idiot and haven't yet figured-out how to activate it :)

sounds like you have done everything. i know when i ordered mine, it was a $19 option , but i wanted it for my bt headphones and mouse. im sure you can add it someway, but i think you literally have to take the laptop apart to do anything to it.

Ok, I've created a barebones Linux on the M11x thread in Sidetopics so that talking about it doesn't get drowned out here. If you've done anything with Linux yet on the M11x please let us know how it's going. I'll be doing some CUDA tests in Backtrack 4 tonight and will be trying to fix the issues that have cropped up in Ubuntu on Thursday night.

you could try diluting some rubbing alcohol in water, it should work as a solvent. It's safe for eyeglasses with optical coatings, so it should be fine on the m11x plastic, but i wouldn't use it on the paint.

    Just bought BC2.

At native + all medium settings = 13-23 fps. Not playable.

    At 720p + all low = 22-35 fps.

    Just.....need....more....cpu....speed!!

Well let's hope that they wise up and optimize it a little better. Even their commercials say it " rightfully challenges Modern Warfare" but I don't see that happening if it can't even run as well on the same system setup.

Yeah its really not that optimized. Heard people with AMD's 5 series GPU's tend to have problems. You can forcefully turn off DX10 mode and that should increase performance. Saw it in a thread on the Steam forums, can't recall when though.

If a good chunk of the people who played MW2 on PC can't play BF:BC2 because of the terrible framerate, I don't see it as a challenger. :p A PC game's looks and gameplay are based on framerate. If I have to stress my machine to run one game while another game that looks and plays just as well lets me max out the specs a bit more, I'm totally going for the second game.
