Picked it up at an Army Surplus store. Fits the M11x like a glove. Padded and has a satin lined interior. It also has a storage compartment in the back for an external dvd drive.

I'm using this.
PerformanceBike - Welcome!
110$ timbuk2 bag? for 60? yes please.
edit: in hopes that no one perceives this as spam since its my first post. I haven't gotten the unit or bag yet, both are shipping in. I get my m11x on Wednesday. got an R1 because of the optimus horror stories I've been hearing about. I've been using timbuk2 bags for 5 years now, and they hold up fairly well. Started out with a commute 1, then went to a laptop messenger medium, now I'm going for the link above because it was cheaper than buying direct. -
Well I found this case that is designed specifically for the m11x, the Mobile Edge Alienware Orion Netbook Portfolio, I thought it was great, perfect size and it was designed for the m11x but I couldn't find it on the Dell Australia store, there I could only find the orion backpack and the messenger, both 17".
So I looked on amazon and had no luck, so I tried eBay and many other stores but none seemed to ship to Australia or even have it, I checked the mobile edge website and they don't ship to Australia either which I was really annoyed at, so has anybody else had such a problem with this case, or could you suggest somewhere I could look for it that ships to Australia, any feedback is greatly appreciated
Thanks. -
If you search the forum, the case has been mentioned at least a few times. I believe there's even a thread on cases for the M11x
-
Mobile Edge is willing to ship internationally as stated in their FAQ page. It would probably cost you around US$ 37-45 for the shipping fee depending on the shipping method you choose though.
I bought both the Portfolio and the Neoprene Sleeve from Mobile Edge. It cost me US$ 44.50 to ship it using USPS Express Mail International to Australia. -
Well I went to the mobile edge website and tried to order it but there was no option for any countries outside of the US, I tried selecting the 'nothing' option and putting in my postal code in Australia but it asked me to specify a country...
this is what I see: http://i51.tinypic.com/6gk30m.jpg -
From your own screenshot.
"For orders outside North America, please call 714-399-1400, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. PST."
EDIT: Be aware that the Orion Portfolio case will fit the M11x, a mouse, and your A/C adapter. Nothing else short of a usb thumb drive, a few small cables or some papers will fit. The mouse and A/C adapter will be contained in an external mesh pouch. The notebook compartment itself has a mesh ventilation panel so that you can safely operate the M11x without removing it from the case. It is a great case as long as you don't need to carry a load of accessories and aren't looking for protection from the elements. It protects from dings, drops, scratches, and the like just fine though. -
Taken from their FAQ:
-
Oh, well I guess I should've noticed that earlier, I've already order this other case off Amazon anyways, well thanks for the help.

Bought mine from: Alienware M11x Netbook Portfolio.. They do International shipping.

She barely fits in the Mobile Edge case. It's easier to slip her in now that the case has stretched a little:
Newegg.com - MOBILE EDGE Black 11.6" TechStyle EVA Netbook Case Model MEUVC-11.6
Padding is excellent and best of all she'll run inside the case due to the clamshell design.
I bought an Embark document holder from Target to house my mouse and power supply (ironically not listed on Target's site). What I like about it is that it's flat to complement the thinness of the Mobile Edge EVA case and it zippers fully open to get quick access to the stuff inside:
It looks like the corners are too big in this picture, but when you zip her up, they fit just fine, the only caveat is that I have to flip her upside down and backwards for the zippers to close:
It's not just a handle, it's a philosophy:
I'll prop her up on the back edge for cooling as well as to prevent power plug binding. This is probably one of the few cases that you'll be able to use on an airplane with the seat in front of you reclined:

I'm using a Pelican Case (can't recall the series right off the top of my head). It's extremely slim line and is usually used for a 15" notebook. Additionally, It has formable foam, so you can create a custom inlay for it. I paid about $80.00 for it and have found it very useful. Also, one thing I really liken about it is that it's slim enough to put in a back pack.
-
I use a Samsonite NETBOOK case I got at from Office Depot for $25. It says it fits up to a 10.2" screen, but it's a good, snug fit for the M11x. They show a 12" on their website.

I want to buy the Alienware Orion Portfolio ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A3460820), but it's not delivered in france, someone have a solution ?
I try to contact "SimonG75" how I can do ? -
I ordered the Alienware Netbook Sleeve & found out it doesn't have a handle. I might send it back & get the Orion Portfolio. Is the Orion Portfolio water proof? If you had to choose between the two, which one would you choose?

Any chance this will fit??
11.6 inch sleeve

I use the cloth that the m11x came with, and a normal back pack, I got the neopren for the m11x, but is still in order....

Basic 11.6" sleeve from amazon, and my Chrome bag.

Do you guys have much experience with Kata bags? Was looking into the Kata Sensitivity V to carry the m11x. Unfortunately, they are discontinued, but did run into this.
They are mainly camera equipment bags, but I like the look. Seems like it would be a good fit for the m11x's size, and the other portions of the bag would be good for gadgets and accessories (external optical drive, hard drive, cables, power supply, etc.). Wanted to get a consensus as the bag isn't cheap.
Thanks -
I have a Kata 3N1-33 bag that I use frequently for my camera kit and laptops. The M11x, or more often my 13" MBP fit beautifully in the laptop compartment. Their bags are very well designed and the materials used are great. I haven't had any hands on with the Sensitivity V or the Prism U though.

I specifically DID NOT want a case that had Alienware branding on it, because I have heard that these laptops are hot items when it comes to stolen goods, and I wanted to be able to leave my laptop in my car without worry of coming back to a broken window and missing computer. I went to Best Buy to look for a case, and it was very hard to find one that fit. 10-12 inch cases were too tight, and 13 inch cases were too loose. I ended up getting a Case Logic 10" DVD Player case. It was thick enough to handle the extra size of the Alienware, and it has enough extra pockets to throw in the power supply and an external mouse. It's ever so slightly tight, but still zips up fine without scratching the rubberized finish of my R2. It was also half price that the 13" case was.

I've got mine in the recommended neoprene bag but only because my backpack dosen't have a proper laptop sleeve

Looking for something similar in size and quality, but just haven't come across it yet -
im finding hard to find a case thats available in australia. Importing one from the US is a little expensive for a case..
Can anyone suggest a case (not bag) thats available in Australia? want it to be protective obviously - possible with a hard shell... somthing like this mobile edge one would be perfect Newegg.com - MOBILE EDGE Black 11.6" TechStyle EVA Netbook Case Model MEUVC-11.6 -
I'm using the Alienware Orion Portfolio Case for the M11x and absolutely love it. My M11x is in the portfolio case 24/7 whether on a desk or on my lap.
*key feature*
The air vent underneath, combined with flipping the portfolio inside out as shown in last picture makes this the best M11x case in my opinion. No need to worry about airflow or even buying a laptop cooler.

got a kahuma laptop backpack - get loads of stuff in there with it, enough for a weekend away infact
nox -
Jaeyang9 I just got that same case yesterday it is the . Nice and sleek, looks like your carrying around a little notebook and flip it over and you got elevation for the fan. Perfect.

I use a boblbee backpack since I'm on a motorcycle carrying my laptop around.
Amazon.com: Boblbee Megalopolis Aero: Clothing
Haven't really heard if they hold up in a crash but I'm kinda banking on the fact if I ever have something go wrong my notebook will be safe as well as my back.
When I'm not using it I have one of the mactruck hardcases for my m11x -
i use a Life is good bag. it is simple and just the right size, sadly my headphones make it buble a bit
LIG BAG -
Just received the Orion Portfolio case for the 11x. Not very happy with it at all. When you unzip the zippers completely, they are very hard to close. Have to squeeze the two zip sides together in order for the zipper to work correctly (see attached picture from product page, notice the bulge in the zipper track when completely open?). Partially open is not an issue - only when the case is unzipped completely.
Going to call and have them send me a new one - perhaps this is just a bad apple but I doubt it.
Maybe I should've went with the neoprene sleeve. Hmmmm...Attached Files:

Currently I'm using the STM Armour. It's a bit bulky, but it fits the m11x like a glove (especially with the foam insert strip it comes with slipped into the bottom). Really... it's kind of ridiculous how perfectly it fits in there. While it might be overkill it's a beast of a bag and I don't worry about having it in my backpack (which as a college student is with me 24/7 and likely to get knocked around quite a bit). As for the backpack I'm using the Vaude Gallery Air 30+5, which has enough room for books and whatnot with the STM Armour inside.
If you're looking for something damn near bulletproof then check out the Armour... 'cause it's worth it to not worry about the ~$1200 worth of pretty you're lugging around. Just my $0.02

Just got my neoprene sleeve, took 1 month (some problems with the delivery, I got a logitech mouse and the neoprene, but only the mouse got here, so I called and the started a search, etc.)
Is great, the lap fits perfectly, so much that you need to push it to fit, now I can carry it more with me...
BTW, did don´t know about the Orion was capable of using the lap while is on it, that´s awesome, I´m gonna get one next... -
You can sometimes find them on sale! Rarely, but sometimes. And when they are - they're good sales. -
Anyone have any experience with the Crumpler Moderate Embarassment?
Crumpler The Moderate Embarrassment - eBags.com -
Unfortunately those types of messenger bags like to swing too much, and don't stay snug to the body like a backpack, or a chrome messenger bag. Which is why I switched to chrome =/
I've heard the timbuk2's are good and cinch to the body well - but I have no personal experience w/ one. They are generally a bit less than chrome. -
I just got my Zeroshock III from ebay. Was scared it wouldn't fit because of negative posts on the forum but turns out it fits perfectly. It's the perfect case for my needs. Here are a couple of pics:
The laptop is in the case in this pic
Memory foam feels firm and protective
Overall, highly recommended -
I use a Targus Backpack for 13" laptops : here
It is perfect for the m11x (fit perfectly inside) + I can carry the AC Plug, my bluetooth Dell mouse, the XBOX360 controller and it's adapter, security cable and other cables (iphone, etc).
(I also carry in the bag a bluetooth headset Philips SHB9000).
So it is a pretty complete little bag for work (I travel a lot and use the laptop daily) and for nomad play (at the hotel, ...). -
Have the Alienware M11 sleeve on the way from Newegg, and will use that for extra protection or when I just need the laptop and nothing else. For actual carrying I picked up the Bag of Holding from Thinkgeek ThinkGeek :: The Bag of Holding Messenger Bag
I looked at different bags online and in store for about 3 weeks before deciding to go with that combo, and I'm glad I did. The Bag of Holding is a bit big, but I need to carry a lot of stuff with me for work, so it actually works out okay. Wish the front storage pockets were a little larger, but thats a minor complaint. -
Mobile Edge Sumo 12".
Mine fits PERFECTLY. -

I was recently looking to get a timbuk2 dlux for my envy14, but instead decided to get an m11x.
Does anyone know if the SMALL bag will be big enough for laptop+ maybe a few things for school like a notebook or textbook or 2? The medium seemed ok for the 14inch + a textbook, and the small should fit the m11x, but I need it to fit just a bit more than laptop only.
It doesn't matter if it fits with a sleeve on or not, I can always toss the sleeve in the main pocket.

When I was looking for a sleeve/case of my M11x I brought it to best buy to test out. I found that the M11x was too fat to fit in any sleeve for a 13" or smaller laptop. 14" was too big. I ended up getting a 10" DVD player case, because it was much deeper than the other sleeves, and I had a pocket in the back big enough for my mouse, mousepad and power cable.
The thickness of the M11x is your biggest challenge when looking for a good case. -
I use this:
Newegg.com - MOBILE EDGE Black 11.25" Alienware Netbook Sleeve Model AWNS01
MOBILE EDGE Black 11.25" Alienware Netbook Sleeve Model AWNS01
Fits it perfectly, slips right in my backpack. -
ok guys here's a challenge.
I'm looking for a backpack style bag that'll accomodate the following:
My M11x and its mactruck hardcase
the charger
a mousemat and mouse
a paper notebook
a 2.5" external hard drive
and a wired xbox 360 control pad.
and im looking for it to be around the $50 mark, any help would be much appreciated. -
Swiss Gear 17" Pegasus backpack simply because I have to carry around a buncha diff stuff for my job.
Once you go backpack you will never go back I used to use one for my old job and its so handy being able to throw something on your back to carry it around! -
Considering how the battery life is so great... you really dont need to keep the cords with you at all times.
What are you using to carry your M11x around with? Bag questions here
