As I was browsing through the forums, I couldn't find a single thread with satisfied owners of the M15X. Either the M15X is really bad or everyone is too busy gaming on their M15X to post about their satisfaction with the system. So, post away about the satisfaction of your systems. What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? Would you go back in time and not order the M15X if you could? Just wanted to see the happy owners who don't complain about all the little problems in their systems.

Dude... I am very very happy with my m15x. I know I answered a few questions offline but I love my m15x. I have owned 3 alienware systems. The m17 (2.4ghzduocore/3870sx2), the m11x r1 (had 2 sold 1, wife has other) and now the m15x. I really like it. It's heavy but it plays everything I have thrown at it so far. I do a lot of game benchmarking and it really is amazing. I do hope to get an I7-920 or 940 but I just purchased a new AR-15 with all the tactical stuff so there went all my play funds.

    So put me down for..

People usually come to forums, when they encounter a problem and are at a dead end. This does not imply that the majority of the owners are unhappy. The people having no problems find no need to post about it and hence they don't.

Regardless, I absolutely love my machine and spend a good minute admiring it before even turning it on everyday. :)

I definitely love mine. They shipped this one way faster than the one they shipped before (older m15x). Ordered one and it came like 4 days later. It wasn't a pre-configured one either!

I am delighted with my M15x, in fact much more than anticipated. It has now relegated the more powerful 17' notebook that I formerly used to backup status. Not sure I can really explain why; it just suits and it has been rock solid. It offers decent performance, good cooling and the best look and feel in the industry. Thought the light would be sort of hokey before I bought it, but now I love the lights. Probably going to swap the 920XM out of the other one and make the M15x the powerhouse.

Right on the money ;) I absolutely love my M15x, but when I do have the occasional problem I post about it. When I'm having no problems, I don't post. You won't regret the M15x, it's extremely well built, easy to repair, and pretty dern powerful.

I'm fairly satisfied with mine, considering it was a replacement system for an XPS M1530. Only really tapped into performance with the 460M upgrade. Original system had a 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Duo, so the uses between Quad/Dual are somewhat different.

Count me in, I LOVE this baby and its my first lappy, although i had used many others b4, none came close to M15x. I asked some one before this about this thread and he said, most happy owners dont post here because theirs work good. People come to forums to solve problems ;)

I absolutely love my m15x. I've been all over the laptop world, from XPS systems to Macbooks to Asus lappies to this, my very first Alienware. And though, yes, as with anything that you want the full functionality of, it required a bit of tweaking, I have never been so fully satisfied with a laptop. It was a dream of mine to own an Alienware, and this has been a dream come true :)

    I had my M15x for a month.
Great system, great speed, great display, great keyboard.
I must say, I don't like the touchpad and the weight... But the "love" things are more than this 2 silly things!

This is my first Dell and my first Alienware. I'm loving it!

Well for about the first month or so i wasnt happy, multiple bluescreens, random restarts was a real pain in the . After dealing with many run arounds with dell support and shipped off for repairs. Glad too say that i love it, i even stopped using my other laptop and desktop(old) completely. Its so simple to work with internally and look just beautiful. Very happy with its perfomance. Im actually planning many upgrades and also another alienware purchase late this year...

Happy overall but would have liked more graphics card options, namely the 470m and the 6900 series. If Clevo can do it, why not Dell? I mean Alienware used to be a Clevo reseller!

I'm happy with mine too. No laptop is perfect, but I gotta say after owning at least 10 laptops previously, the M15x is by far the most superior in build quality and cooling. Second place would go to my old m9700 which was a pre-Dell Alienware, and I believe was made by Uniwill. That was an awesome unit. The M15x has its minor quirks here and there but nothing so far that would make me regret purchasing it. One thing I wish I could change is the placement of the power adapter plug. Would have really preferred it to be in the back.

As I have only owned the Alienware M15X for not even a day but for maybe five hours, I am already impressed and I must say that this laptop came without any bloatware with the exceptions of Mcaffe (Which I think is useless looking at avast!) Did I mention this is a refurbished? If it wasn't for the sticker at the bottom, I would think this is brand spanking new. The only downside of course is the bad battery life but I can deal with it thanks to outlets. Thank you for everyone's kind help as it has helped me oh so much. Does anyone know how I check if the drivers are updated? Do I need to install them right away and DirectX?

@Even -- to check your current driver, start Catalyst Control Center (right click on Desktop and click on CCC - top selection). Click on Graphics at top left, then select Information and then Software. That will give you the Driver Packaging Version (i.e., 8.821) and the Catalyst Version (i.e., 11.2). You can also get it from GPU-Z ( techPowerUp! :: Downloads) If things are working well, there is no need to update drivers immediately.

Sold my gaming rig which i thought i'd keep and upgrade later, this laptop really is amazing and is a deskop replacement for most games. When i'm not having long gaminging sessions i've noticed how athetically pleasing it is. It's like getting a sports cars, amzing looks, goes really well and is dam cool.

I am super happy with my laptop. There are a few quirks with it, but I've never had a perfect laptop. Also, dell support is aware of the issues with the laptop, such as the screen touching the keyboard and the palm rest rubber coming off, and are more than willing to help. Great laptop with great support.

So I got my laptop today and gawd am I thrilled. Been taking quite a while setting everything up mostly because I had a problem with my bluetooth working with skype correctly (resulted in a factory restore just to be sure all the settings were gone)

I havent been able to get any gaming in as of yet but I will very soon...one thing I noticed is that the lappy doesnt appear to be much faster really, but maybe thats just because its new and Im still updating everything.

I absolutely love my newly acquired M15x. This is the first Alienware I've ever had, and I will never be able to go to back (unless it's to a Sager :p) to another brand again.

Love the mostly aluminum chassis, the quality of said chassis, the beauty in the details (Alien head logo, system lighting and customization, the Alienware Messenger bag is the nicest bag I've ever had, etc) and the performance. I've been playing Crysis in 1080p with 16xAF on High with no lag of any kind and absolutely loving it, not to mention Tropico 3 with 8xAA 16xAF, Anno 1404 with the same settings, and no game I've loaded has run on anything but "High" except for Metro 2033, which I've been too afraid to run because I know it will barely run on Medium (Metro 2033 is the "Crysis" of 2010, super demanding).

Again, I freakin' love this system. Can't wait to order an M17x (or similar) with hopefully a 485m this fall and give the M15x to the girlfriend. She's counting the days. :)

I noticed this too - the 740QM isn't as impressive in Windows as I thought it would be. It feels no faster than the 2.53Ghz Core2 I upgraded from, honestly. But it tears the C2D apart in games and other applications.

It's not aluminium like M17x.... It's magnesium alloy in M15x.. Little bit more heavier than aluminium but more heat-resistant!!! :D

    Just my two cents. ;)

I've had my M15x since mid november and absolutly love it. Great processor, upgraded RAM to 8GB (thanks to Newegg sale this week), flashy lights, beautiful screen, good video card. Of the things I'm not crazy about; a nearly useless touchpad, I still can't believe someone at Dellianware used this and said, "yep, works good for me." Still not too sure about the edge to edge glass, er..I mean plastic, too much glare sometimes, and the palmrests kind of irritate my wrists if I type too long. Aside from these, it's a beautiful machine.

Haven't had much time with mine :( very frustrating. But the few hours I have spent with it are amazing! Everything works flawlessly, downloaded the original Mass Effect on Steam (only £9.99 for a 10gig game :0) andthe whole eperience is completely mindblowing! I love the game but the computer is the real star here. I am running on FULL maxed out (granted it's an old game so it doesn't sweat the machine, but still there are not enough superlatives to say how good this game is!)

I have done all windows security updates EXCEPT SP1, this is because I don't trust it yet, and my M15x is running way toooo stable for me to mess with anything at the moment. For me stability > performance.

I have Nebula Red, i7 620m 2.66mhz, GTX 460m 1.5g 1080p screen, bluray, bluetooth, win7home. It is just perfect, well almost, the LED keyboard ligts are beautiful but I think that the lower edge (that's the edge closest to me) of the Space Bar is not illuminated. It's kind of annoying but it's not enough of anissue for me to contact support as I don't want anything touching this beast!

I keep the machine in it's Alienware cloth bag when not in use, I also keep the little plastic screen cover between the keyboard and screen when I shutdown and closedown lol. I have not used it on battery yet, I have not even installed GPUz because they changed it from a .exe to a full intall and I don't want ANYTHING messing with my stability. Seriously the only things I've got on the machine ar Steam, Shogun 2 demo, and MAss effect. Will download Empire total war in a few days and let you know how it runs.

Anyone else got problems with their Space Bar lights?
    Cheers

I also have the same issue with the keyboard... but if you look at the notebook reviews, it looks like a common issue: more a design issue.

It's not like my XPS1530 where, after only a year, i couldn't play anything maxed out.

I have this baby and everything is always being run maxed out (with the occasional tweak here and there ;] )

I had a few issues in the start with my first one which turned into a On-site tech nightmare, but a full replacement did the job. It was mostly mishandling by the techs that sticks out as a nightmare more than the actual laptop.

    XD

Thanks for the photo. Mmm looks like it is quite common. I'd say my spacebar is even dimmer than that as you are getting some illumination on the lower right qaudrant of the long key. but W/E if that's the only problem I'm fine with it.
