Welcome to the second installment of the Alienware M15x 'All Powerful' Benchmark thread here on NBR.

The last thread had become quite crowded, and no longer had anyone tracking scores so a newer thread was needed - here it is! The original thread can be found HERE.

There are several apps which can be used to benchmark your system. Following is a short list of some which are typically used. There are others and the core benchmarking members will have plenty of suggestions - so ask away.
    FutureMark Benchmark Apps

    Component Benchmark Tools
    Game Benchmark Tools

A word of caution concerning benchmarking... While benchmarking / number chasing can be quite a bit of fun, please be aware that benchmarking your system is pushing your system to its limits. It can and will stress your components. Do so at your own risk - nobody is responsible for this but you.

Finally, as with all threads here on NBR, please remember the forum rules when posting. Also please note, any images posted which cause page scrolling will be removed. Repeat offenders will receive infractions. There is no reason you cannot take a moment to resize or use thumbnail previews. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation with this.

Have fun folks and lets see how far you can push the M15x! :D

Also, big thanks go out to DR650SE for tracking the scores in the last thread, and for all of the work he did to make tracking the scores in this thread so easy!!! ;)

Welcome to the M15X Benchmark Thread
Last updated on: 25 June 2011
    ----------------------------------------------------
NOTE: When posting your benchmarks, please include a screenshot of your final score, along with CPU-Z and GPU-Z in your screenshot alongside your score. This is to verify your information. Without screenshots with the information, scores will not be included in the top 5. If you need an example please reference benchmark links in my sig. If you have questions how to get the screenshots, please PM me and I will explain it. This is not the case with gaming benchmarks that have in game benchmark tools. Please refrain from attaching large photos (greater then 500x500) causing slow load times and excessive scrolling. You can use links to your photos from sites such as imageshack.us. If you have qualified into the top scores, please PM me with a link to your post so that I may link your score in this post. I will try my best to update this post on at least a weekly basis. Please PM me if you wish to add something to the list and we can discuss it. Now let's have fun and push the system!

NOTE: Any images posted must be 500x500 or less. If larger, they will be removed by a moderator (see forum rules). For information on using thumbnail previews for large images, see here.

Please PM me your scores if there are any new runs or any that I have missed, reading through the entire thread is very tedious and I will not be doing it. Thanks! ;)

All runs done at default settings, native resolution, 1280 x 1024 and PhysX turned off

Seriously, what happened to him? It really is no problem, I enjoy keeping it alive by helping, thank dr650se for the work he did and batboy for oking the new thread to clean it up too. What happened to your gpu? I'm going to try to get the rest of the sections filled in, there has to be more scores than that. I just have a bit of reading and tracking to do it (200+ pages lol).

Wow whats the deal with that card? Those things can crazy overclock. What are the stock clocks? Here is my best Vantage run on a single GPU. Didn't put much into it, maybe I'll give it another shot tonight. First I need to get Riva Tuner working so I can overclock after Flashing the GPU.

I got a card that's an absolute freak of nature from dell as a replacement, funny thing is it's a refurb that's got some sort of issue with the shaders or shader temp sensor as it's been reading pretty high at idle. Stock clocks for these cards are 625/1000 and that last run for the 10405 was at 1010/1180! The other thing is keep in mind that was run on A/C, without A/C I couldn't run safely past about 960-9760/1125 as the temps would sky rocket in New Calico. What do you think of the new thread DR650?

I like the new thread, I like the idea of consolidating the scores on the first page. Makes it easier for people to find if they want to look. Only thing I'd like to see is the "Welcome to the M15X Benchmark thread a little bigger. Looks great though, +1

Those are still some dang nice scores inap! I figure I'm gonna give it about a week before I update the scores to see if anybody can out do any of the scores currently in the top 5 for each catagory. You got a week to outdo me inap you can do it! I figure at the very least I'm gonna bump jstar down that list and from what I've seen he can't even counter it anymore lol.

the madness will not end, once it begins to dwindle, a new laptop will replace the aging (and abused) m15x... thus the cycle begins once more.

it never ends just keep on pushing it to the bleeding edge and inch before BSOD's. Then you get a new part and your repeat all over again. You cross your fingers while doing each bench and hope you learn some new trick in the process and share your knowledge with other.

aiyah, i wish i had the $ to do that. instead i end up with a 5870 unable to get to 900 core even with temps way below 80C and vcore bumped up.

some ppl here (looks at inap) have had multiples of the same card and maxes out each one seeing how far he can push.

need... better... job... to support... my OCD.

wowzers faiz, that settings on the cpu stable for use or just bench?

the multi are stable for daily use haven't crashed on me what does cause crashes is bumping core 4 to 27 or higher instantly or bumping core 1 to 31 or higher. The highest clock i can go is 30x on core 1 to validate. For benching highest stable is 28-28-28-26. Damn last core is holding me back but for being an ES chip and how little i paid i can't complain. Only wish my GPU would suck it up and learn to handle the higher clock rates lolz.

Edit: I have TS set to 25x default and normally just leave it on that but when i game i will bump up multi to 28-28-27-26 as you see and haven't had BFBC2 crash on me and work fine the last couple weeks i have been trying out higher multi.

Funny thing, I installed the new card thinking I was sending this one back, popped it in with a nice paste job and new pads and the stupid thing idled ridiculously high(high 50's across the board), struggled to get through a stock vantage run, and his 95 degrees in 2 mins of furmark even after multiple paste attempts so I talked to tech and they said I could keep the other card or try again. I'm keeping this card and I guess if it fails on me some point down the road I'll start again.

    ^^^DR650 I like that lol.

How do you kill an SSD by benching?

    all the constant reboots?
    setfsb raising the pci bus?

not really sure tbh, i thought setfsb was locking the agp/pci/sata bus in place.

had time to do some benching, did just a tad better, but wow psu is hitting 180-185. but my first 22k cpu score. i think i'm hitting my power limits, tried a second and third run with higher multi but all poop out lower scores.

That's a nice score there inap! Good job man! Seriously pulling down those GPU scores is pretty much impossible for almost everyone else even without that wicked cpu clock.

That's an amazing performance for a single card laptop, Inap, much less with a 5850.

Question, what are you guys getting on your GPU stock, no overclock, on Vantage? My GPU seems like it's not running as well as it did before on games, so I just ran a stock run and I got 6085 for GPU. CPU seems normal at at 12064.

More like 7,251 at 625/1000 with an 820QM. CPU was 12,081.

What do you think I should do... :S
Does this mean my card is dying? If so, then I hope it slowly fades cause I might be able to snag a nice 6XXX.

I don't know, none of the usual suspects would seem to apply. Might reinstall drivers on the off chance they've become corrupted somehow. I'll think about it, maybe some others can help.

I guess the first thing to do is run GPU-Z and log results while playing a game or running Vantage. That should show whether and when it is downclocking and could suggest the cause.

Well, recently, I've been hearing like the scraping of something against sand or dust... I dunno, it hasn't happened today, but I've heard it this weekend and plus, recently, my MW2 hasn't been able to start up. o.o

    GPU-z log

Try the GPU-Z logging and see what it shows. Post a copy of the log file here. The noise sounds fan related, but unless temps are significantly higher, wouldn't directly affect card operation.

Well, I just edited my above post. It seems like the GPU is throttling down for some reason. In the middle of a benchmark it goes down to 500/1000 then, 100/150. o.o Never happened before. You know what could be causing this?
    My temps are decent too.

use AMD gpu tools and manually set your clocks at 625/1000 and rerun the test and go back an rerun a gpuz log and see how it does. I remember another member who had similar issues and turned out to be CCC powerplay and removing and reinstalling took care of it. I would set the clock manually so they are locked in and redo the test and see if there is any changes.
