I haven't followed your story sinistas but have you tried the Unresolved Issues Link or the "unspoken" email for Michael Dell that gets you a specific rep for your case? If you haven't PM me for more info.

I tried doing the escalation thing months ago and got nothing back. I don't know if that's what you're referring to.

I dunno if anybody has noticed this, but on HWinfo, it claims that my 1080p screen is only 6-bit. Is this the same with everyone else?

perhaps this is causing the dithering effect that some users have noticed.

you can't just sit back and wait for them, just have to constantly call them untill you get your issues resolved. never wait for them, even if they say they will call back.

    SOLID.

viruses can really screw things up. I hope you have an antivirus program. Run a full scan.

About the rubber stoppers, i called alienware and they replaced my whole palmrest (though they said they don't normally do that). Give it a shot.

And make sure you crazy glue them in on the next one :D

You've only had your computer for about a month now haven't you? And you're already loaded up with viruses? If I were you if you're having that many issues and noticing a computer with those specs being slow I'd do a full wipe/format/reinstall and stay away from what ever torrent sites you've been going to.

PRON OWNZ joooU...LOLZ jk...Wipe it clean and do this

Upon clean install load up Microsoft security essentials, Malware bytes, Spybot without teatime or any junk, Get firefox and load the addon "noscript". I do clean installs like once a month sometime even more lately seems like eevry 5-7 days lolz...but those tips have helped me alot and do not hit your resources like Norton or Mcafee.

im a downloading machine (about 75-100gb a month... LOL)

i always download form torrents and NEVER have i had one problem/virus.

You just got to know what you're downloading... takes a little experience to rule out fakes/trojans... but i can spot them right away...

first thing you should notice... no movie will be 108kb and only have a .exe file LOLL.... but i'll assume you know that.

Try to find reputable torrent sites with quality stuff.... stay away from things that are too good to be true...

and of course... adult films are the No.1 trojan carriers...

    you just gotta be careful

and as faiz said... a clean install is the best way to go. also defrag once a month, run cc cleaner once a week, and run a full system virus scan once every week as well....well thats what i do...

I've never once had a virus either and may not do 100gb of torrents a month but easily 20-50gb a month, another idea is to pay the extra money for some of the torrent clients with filtering and built in virus scans that scan what you download before it's on your pc. I think I paid $20 total, not a month, for the one I use.

i've been using an app called "sandboxie" which runs your web-browser in a sandbox, awesome for checking out sites you aren't sure are safe.

just nuke the box when done and there you go, good as new.
any apps which ran scripted will also run in the sandbox unable to infect the system. any saved files you wish to keep, you have a choice to recover or destroy.

firefox and noscript works great too, however i like to see flashy anims on pages sometimes, not to mention you can sometimes enable the wrong script and it was all for naught.

it's also a great alternative for my dad who has the uncanny nack for getting viruses installed from webpages.

My ISP attempted an unlimited plan and I was downloading no less than 100gb a month :D Of course the ISP failed miserably and ditched the unlimited option so now I'm back to a 20gb cap :(

Edit: Really stinks cos Fallout New Vegas is coming out on the first day of my new month for downloads so I imagine it will be at least half my useage.

it's worth the $, it can also run apps in a sandboxed enviro, however i've found that if the app in question requires admin privileges, it may refuse to run.

there are settings you can change in order to enable it to work, however then sandboxie warns you that it can't protect you 100%

for those apps, i've found it to work with kaspersky's "safe run" option which i think is similar, however it is nowhere near as configurable as sandboxie.

haha i have both side by side since kaspersky's my internet security software of choice.

it's funny with sandboxie if you go to a website which loads trojans etc on your pc, you see them load in the sandbox and with a single rightclick/nuke watch it all go away. only problem, you loose your bookmarks since they were sandboxed haha.

just do a fresh install with a windows xp disk? Lolll nothing to it really...or do you mean dual booting keeping windows 7 and having xp at the same time? I think Windows 7 ultimate has xp mode as one of it extra features...but im not certain

No idea if it actually works on the M15x. Win 7 is not crap enough to go through the trouble of installing XP. There might not XP drivers around for all the components and in some cases Win XP seems to have crashed with the i7 line of CPU ( a quick google told me that).

I would actually advice you to get virtualBox and install XP on that. VirtualBox is completely free (open-source version available) and it runs very well.

^^^^ hahahaha . Good one SoccerT... It's hard enough getting your point accross to dell reps over the phone, after hours of conversation. You think sending an email will do anything? i wouldn't hold my breathe on it... loll

But sorry i don't know of any. Even if there was, they probably just pluck 1 out of every 5000 and read it... and discard the rest.
