Just some money issues right now, especially since I just picked up a Sig P220 Elite.

The reason I have chosen to sell the M15x is so that I can keep the money and pay off my DPA account monthly. I am moving and don't have anything - no car, tv, furniture, etc. Not to delve too deep but I am currently separated from my wife and life must go on.

Unfortunately, some toys must go

Basically Dell gave me a loan. lol

I appreciate everyone's comments and I too would try and help any one of you guys here if I could.

im looking into modifying my nc-2000 with 2 extra fans so i can have them all run on low and have great cooling performance. i have a dremel around here somewhere just need to know what fans i need to buy

also the 5850 offered for the M15x comes with gddr3 epic fail AW, hope they offer the mobile fermi in the future im praying this might happen for future buyers of the M15x

 

anyone else have an issue with the hinge on the M15x screen where if something is placed on the keyboard between the screen it causes a vibration/noise that goes away only if you apply pressure to the screen. (something like the razer kabuto)

 

sounds like a fun project, thinking of doing something similar but from scratch. but why 4 fans, there are only 2 vents that it draws air from. i was thinking of building the cooler into my desk, then i remembered my desk was mad of glass,lol. so i'm thinking of getting 2 desktop fans and customizing my own cooler with adjustable speeds. the macgruber in me is calling,lol.

 

finally my M15x replacement system arrived yesterday. Opened it up today and fired up the system. First thing I noticed, it has the wallpapers from the old m15x systems. ???

Next check the DVD drive and it's not the TSST one. On to command center, thank fully it is the new one. I change all the colors to white and another shock. The left speaker grills is more bright & white while the right speaker grill is more dark and purpulish. is going on here???

good news is that they have not sent a return shipping label. I'm assuming I'm keeping both of them

yeah just put your old hard drive in and see if fx works. did you use the latest version? also could be a bad download too, so maybe redownload it and try again. but swap the harddrives first, that should tell you if its a hardware problem. good luck bro.

 

wow congrats, glad to see your happy with your new one. yeah the white LED's they use have a redish hue to it. if your old one is better maybe swap them.

 

well on the bottom its got indentations for the grill which i could dremel out and then get two more fans same speeds,size, fin degree.

im temped to make my own but i like the look of the nc-2000 so if i could modify it to have 4 fans it would trounce any other cooler bar none except nzxt (or some other brand can't remember it right now) one that people buy for the M17x-R2.

also ive seen how to make diy cooler would look pretty slick plus having the ability to place the fan directly where the bottom vent would be is why they beat generic coolers.

Here's what I get everytime I reboot my system:
I didnt have the time to call dell.. >.> I finished my HW (and watching the hockey game) by 9:45.. Troubleshooting took about 10 mins, then Dell support line was closed
I work tomorrow evening, thursday and friday evening, so I'll give them a call on saturday I guess!

 

Yep I had that error as well. The Alienfx controller is dead unfortunately. Only way to get it back is to get a new motherboard. Sorry bro.

 

well that cleared it up fast.... that sucks, also soccer i don't think they are open on the weekends.

 

Yeah, I've learned never to remove CC or install any updated versions of it ever again. My controller died from reinstalling the CC. What kind of crap is that lol??

I didnt really had the choice to install a new version as I did I clear install...
Also Inap I got to talk to a rep on a sunday when my system was unresponsive.. So they should be open on saturday as well!
I just need to talk to a tech so he can talk to another tech who will actually come to my place and replace my mobo!

Yeah mine died on a clean install too lol. My motherboard was acting odd so I reinstalled and CC died and then the motherboard died a day after. Now that it's got a new board, it's running crazy strong.

Besides, just went to dell.ca and configured my system, the price is 2000$ more than what I actually paid! So I'm prrtty happy, 4 months later I still had a great deal!

Mine arrived too Just been putting BFBC2 through its paces. Running 1600x900 all high (except shadows medium) 2xAA and 8xAF and getting 35-55fps on a 32man server Its performing much better than I expected. I am going to hold off putting in the ati 5870 until I have played with it a bit more.

 

Hi all, could anyone give me a link or a quick guide on what order to install everything after a fresh install and also where I can get the splash screens from.

I thought I saw a link to a guide within the forum but now cant find it.

 

Its still in progress and i cant wait for the beast to arrive. Very curious i guess? My first alienware, I dont game cos i cant on a mac which is gay but no complains as ive done quite a few decent recordings on it. Never let me down. Reasonable batt life.

So i figured why not alienware as i need a faster system. + i can game and its within my budget. Gonna try different programs which i cant get for mac on the beast aswell. Now i have the best of both.

But like i said in the previous post. Bear with me if i ask noob questions yeah? I know nothing bout windows, but im sure its gonna be very interesting..

 

Im gonna load my beast up with battlefield bad company 2 when it arrives. Never played it before. But seems like a very interesting game. If you look at my sig u'll know why im not familiar with games/windows. So please give me pointers on dl-ing etc?

 

I've got Left4Dead2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, StarCraft 2 Beta, Mass Effect 2, Crysis Warhead, Need For Speed Shift.

If you want to make life easy and download games. Go through steam. You will most likely already have access to Steam's Portal Game once you load it up (comes with the Alienwares) if you haven't already got a Steam account then create a new one and start buying your games from there.

Also now that steam offers a Mac Client (or will shortly) you might have the ability to play some of the games you purchase there as well.

This is assuming you have Steam support in the "far east"

pretty much install the chipsets first and then everything else with command center last. also youcam and dvd8 is on your resource cd.

the splash screen "alienhead" is automatic, so no need to worry.

Half Life. Just Get Half Life 2 and the 2 released episodes. Soon youll be able to play Black Mesa which Im sure will be ind blowing. Also, I can recommend Mass Effect for RPG players and BRAID as a must have for anyone

 

May as well skip COD 4 and go straight to MW 2


On a side note I just scored a 11775 in 3dMark06. how does that compare? seems somewhat low. Btw i didn't change any of the settings just went with whatever it told me to use and its the retail version.

Driver version 197.16 from Nvidia site.

 

your score seems to be on par with those specs. also just saw the trailer for mw black ops, looks awesome.

 

Hitokiri, go on the bench thread to see how you compare. You can surely get more points as i scored 12800 once.

@ brutality Css is a must, l4d2 is epic. MW2 is frustrating... Id buy BFBC2 first =p

 

Ya everything is stock so far no overclocks happening yet.

I've been playing a few rounds of MW2 on Xbox live and its insane how fast i get rocked having been out of it for only a couple months. BC2 is awesome though and on the PC it looks phenomenal.

 

on a side note in my Nvidia control panel under hardware info. It says Direct X 11 Version. Shouldn't it say 10 since thats all the card is capable of displaying?

Yeah, everyone's been discussing that. Sadly, the mobile fermi chips will need a whopping 100W of power to run So... don't think we'll be putting those puppies in our M15x's ever

ok im having issues with the bluetooth device on my M15x as there are two devices i try to install and reinstalled use cc cleaner before the reinstall and they are still not installing. any help is appreciated.

 

I've tried running a diagnostic test in the boot menu and when it gets to the question - Were the color bars displayed (y/n) I enter y and nothing happens. Just hangs on this window. I have to manually shut it down. Any help here or is this a call Dell question? thanks

I honestly cant wait for diablo 3... so i could bring the geek in me out again . I've yet, to this day, played a game that i was soooooo into, for sooooooo long, like diablo 2... It really set the bar high onn RPG's and even for games in general with its amazing re-playability... I just never got fed up! It was always a new experience! the item generating was amazing...

anyways i just hope D3 will offer that again.. and more! I'm almost tempted to fire up D2-Lord of destruction again....

All im playing right now is Fifa 10 on ps3..and BFBC2 on my m15x.. with occasional borderlands

@Jstar that was college the past 2 1/2 years partying like a mad man(hint 4/20 was insane time) and actually had good grades made honors last semester now applying to a canadian university

and i was on D2 until early jan but i just get less interested made a perfect zealer (ebotdz, fort, andys, phoenix, war travs, dracs, dungos, raven frost, bk ring, maras, ptorch, anni, cta (3,5,5) w/ spirit, total dmg was about 4-13k. level 89)
