    hey guys, quick question:
what drivers should i be using for my 260m? i have 186.47 now and I don't know where to find others...
    Thanks

edit: ok another question... does anyone know why google chrome keeps loading incomplete pages, or not working with things like this forum for example? IE seems to be a little bit better, but i never had proplems with chrome on my old desktop, and i'm even using the same lan cable... i'm using same firewall and antivirus (zonealarm and norton antivirus) as well. is there perhaps something missing on this new install vs the old xp one which has been running for years?

    The 197.45 is great!
Just go on nvidia's website! Here: NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.16 WHQL
This is the link to the 197.16 driver, the 197.45 is a little more handy to install, I'll show you if you want! :p

ok thanks, i was downloading that now actually :p. it doesn't matter that it says that its for desktop cards?

edit: my internet problem is getting worse... downloaded 197.16 and 197.45 and they both had 7zip errors or werent valid win32 applications... notebookreview.com continually gets "cannot be displayed" things or hang... why is this system's internet so unstable? is it win7 or something?

Most (maybe even all) systems are built in China, Razz. Shipment from there to the States takes approximately one week.

And yes, Dell is quite conservative with the ETA and most systems arrive before that date!

you sound like you have the older area 51 model, its pre dell. yes if you have warranty, get it repaired asap. after the repair i recommend doing the epoxy fix, cause the older m15x hinges are a complete fail. if you can't get it fixed with warranty, you can check ztronics or ebay and buy the lid covers from there.

haven't played metro myself but heard it was very demanding, so maybe just lower your settings. also try a different driver, if you think its a driver issue with the game.

make sure the download is for notebooks. also what is wrong with your wireless????

btw nice to see your back harry, done with the project yet????

It runs like a dream on 1920x1080 on High settings on my setup. Its playable on very high settings, but you notice that it is a bit laggy. Note, this is with DX11 with tesselation and advanced DOF on. The ati 5870 is truely a beast.

    also, check for stealth mode

Can I ask how's the game (Metro2033)? I read the review in PCGamer, thinking about buying it...
Also Madpenguin92, install GPUz and tell me what is your driver currently.
The 197.45 is indeed for desktop but you have to change the .inf file so it installs on notebook anyway. The driver works flawlessly when configured appropriately!

well my power adapter doesn't fit snugly into its socket on the laptop and the touch panel top left is not against the chassis and it clicks when you tap on it.

also it grips me that if im supposed to be able to enjoy my audio i have to sacrifice my ability to have the latest drivers for newer games.

since the 197.31 are 8 month old drivers

Haha I've been using 186.47 forever since newer versions have given me choppy HD video playback... if 197.45 isnt a casualty of this maybe I'll finally be able to update the drivers that came with my laptop in December :D

I'm using 186.47, that's what came with the laptop. how do i install newer ones? and i'm guessing they work better than the ones i have?

I'm still using 186.81 drivers cos newer ones give me trouble with audio over display port, not everyone has this issue so there is no harm in trying the newer ones. You can get them Here, when you select the Product Series choose 200m.

thanks smeggit, downloading 64 bit notebook ones now, so hopefully they work. I managed to stop the gta 4 lag by patching to 1.0.4, it runs between 20 and 50 fps depending on if im driving or inside, usually about 30 :)

edit: still getting 7-zip errors. tried to use winrar to extract it instead, apparently some of the files are corrupt... i'll try download without using the download manager, but it'll be slow so i'll check later.

ok, downloaded the 197.16 drivers on desktop and copied it over and it installed. so there must be an issue when the download manager puts the files back together, i'll have to find a newer one i guess.

Ok, So can someone help me with a Windows 7 related issue on my M15x,

Right now my LCD Panel pushes way too much blue for its own good. Using the windows Color Calibration tool fixes the problem to a point where its not a problem for me. However occasionally and this is more often than not. The Calibration profile that I made will revert back to the stock profile which is saturated in blue.

I've never seen this happen on any of my previous computers since i've been using the tool in windows 7. So I can't seem to figure out why this is happening or how to make it stop. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

I had this problem on my 1647 that had an RBG screen. I actually had to remove the stock profiles and just leave the ones that I put into the utility so it wouldn't revert back at random reboots.

So planning on getting the M15x, but I'm reading about a lot of problems such as:
    -throttling
    -sound
    -touchpad
    -non-responsive touchstip

Have these actually been fixed? And for the throttling, when does it occur? Help would be appreciated.

So yeah, I havent experienced any CPU throttling YET, everything is running fine from here! Sound can be harsh when you use the two jack ports at once, but otherwise its great. Touchpad is pretty meh, make sure to uninstall the driver and let windows install a basic one..
Anyway most AW users dont ever use the touchpad, we all have some kind of ultra-expensive gaming mouse :D
The touch strip is great! I had no problem with it so far! :D

This place is has been dead lately, come on back guys, I miss ya :(
I don't feel like doing my french homework I need your support! :p

yeah all the aw touchpads plan sucks-gaming mouse is a most have.
throttling could be a thing of the past with the new 5850's.
touch control, i have nevered had an issue with them.

    You tell 'em Thierry! ;)

You'rte right though. Most people seem to forget that people come to these forums because they are interested in a similar system or, and that's even more common, because they have got some kind of problem with their system. You hardly see people here whose system run without any problems.
I, for one, am incredibly happy with my system. Except for the DVD drive that stopped working after a couple of weeks (hardly Dell's fault), I haven't had a single issue.

Wassup, Inap? We seem to be on the same line!!

Personally just cause 2 isn't really my kind of game... a little too arcade-ish ...well not really... actually i don't know what it is but it doesn't intrigue me... that being said it looks awesome and is diffrent... just not for me.. but thats striclty personal preference

Metro2033...never tried it.. but it looks good

Splinter Cell Conviction...pretty awesome... its what i play now when i have a couple mins to spare... they added some nice touches to it that allow you to pull off some intrestingly cool and smooth kills... oh yea and again, it looks awesome. Was never into them either but i decided to give it another shot and its keeping me entertained for now :)

but how bout if i told you , you don't gotta choose cuz you can have all 3 for the price of none! LOL... Gotta love the internet :D

hey harry i once bought a satelite high-speed internet modem for a rediculous amount of money... and only used it for about 6 months... ( i moved to a new area and there were no telephone poles up yet! and i couldn't live without internet!!)

I don't really need it anymore and i'd be willing to send it to ya if you want buddy :) its highspeed internet anywhere you are in the world :D even in paradise!

Oh yea but you'd have to pay for the service...which is also pretty pricey for what you get :(

    Wow! Sounds great!
I'm quite happy with my new internet, but it's still not fast compared to how internet is supposed to be!
What are the monthly costs for the service? I got a quote for around $3000 a month! Well, not in 3000 years! I mean, I am willing to pay for what I get, but it has to be something at least (and not 4Gig a month for 3G!).
