yeah half life 2 is a classic, one of the best fps ever. also tf2 is my favorite multi player games ever. you can also just download one by one instead of doing it all at the same time.

Can anyone else confirm how snugly their AC adaptor fits into the power port? I find mine to be somewhat loose and can easily fall out.

 

mines a little loose too I've been planning to call dell about this when I'm back in the states Wednesday.

 

mines perfect, just tight enough to hold it, while it still fits nicely!

Well, I'm back at my old internet connection as Steam slurped up my entire monthly package and it's not even close to finishing the download!!!

The worst thing is that the faster one is limited to 4Gig a month. It took me 5 days to use it up so the next 26 days I'm bound to the slow connection again.

To answer the question asked earlier, I can wiggle my power cable just a little bit but no way it would fall out.

 

wow, 4 gigs , my cell phone plan has 6GB with 2mb/s down and 500kb up and thats considered to suck at speed and bandwith usage.

My DSL connection however is around the same speeds up to 3mb on a good day dl, but i have an unlimited download rate. Which is nice.

Yeah, I would too. It's not supposed to be able to fall out and it prevents you from using it without having the battery connected.

The slow connection I have is actually through my cell phone. They do offer unlimited internet (which I have) but unfortunately their speed is very slow due to where I live (in a rural area). If I take my computer to the city I get actual broadband speeds. Thing is, I don't want to move just for better internet because I love where I live at the moment (front of the beach, between the mountains)!

Hello my brother!

Unfortunately my package ran out just after you left the office! All games are about 20% into their downloaded. My internet right now is so slow that I can't even log into Steam and when it accidentally does, I get disconnected within a few minutes!

I probably need around 3 more moths for the downloads to finish, bro! Ha ha ha!

I did contact them today and threatened to go to consumer protection if they weren't willing to change my package to unlimited (because on their website they say they offer it). I was, of course, very polite while threatening them, so they said they would see what they can do. I'll get an answer in the next few days (and yes, they know I took snap shots of their advertisement).

How is your power adapter by the way, Inap? Seems some people have problems with it staying plugged into the computer.

the power adapter is cool, it jiggles around when i mess with or tug on it, but it doesn't just pop out by itself, i can of perfer it to be all that, since i have kids at home. just it case someone were to pull the cable by accident the laptop wouldn't fall to the ground.

Mine is around 6Mb/s, which is still pretty slow imo.. I don't know how you're doing man, it must be horrible to use the internet... O_O

 

Hey, can anyone confirm or deny me that you can use the Eyefinity with the 5870m? I could be interested, knowing that the 260M only handles 2 monitors..

 

its listed as an available feature on the 5800 series cards, so there should be no reason for it not to be there. Just like the 4000 series cards do not support it I believe.

 

don't have the screen to check it out, sorry soccer. but i think its supported.

 

Wow, Thierry! I would give an arm for those speeds, man! And I was already so happy with the average of 0.90 Mbs of my fast internet because it's so much faster than the other one. It probably takes you less than a day at school to download heaven to earth, bro!

 

lool... My workplace / university has one of the fastest in nation. University of Illinois at Urbana (saw it on a cnn report). Will probably check it tomorrow. Currently getting 18Mb/s up and 3Mb/s down on my home connection ( http://www.speedtest.net/result/818879365.png) and I consider that slooooow compared to my work speeds


Anyway, steam does take a long time to DL (esp when you downloaded 6-7 games at the same time). I'm pretty sure it would take ages to completely DL them at speeds of 0.5Mb/s. Try renting it from gamefly ( the first month is free) or you might get cheaper DVD's from ebay / local gamestop shop

 

I'll check out our version of Ebay (mercadolibre), thanks. There are no local stores for that as violent games are forbidden in Venezuela (since a couple of weeks) and stores are afraid for what exactly is seen as violent. So basically they just stopped selling games altogether.

Ok just to add in some info. My power plug also has a little wiggle in it but never falls out. I don't mind it too much, sometimes I just go and press it back in when it comes out like a 0.1mm lol.

 

The internet speed here in America is usually not that fast :S. Back in Sweden pretty much all the schools have 100mbit and most people have fiber, it's so much better. Does anyone here on the forum fiber as well?

 

Reinstall it again. Uninstall ---> Reboot ---> Reinstall. See if that fixes the issue.
