Ah I see. That sucks, I was dying to see some performance comparisons against the 260m OCed.

So guys, I've been trying my rep, and this is what I have him down to.
$1,998 after taxes. This is in Canadian dollars. The specs are as follows:
M15x
i7 720
500 gb
5850
6 GB DDR3 1333 (since its a special offer I dont have the option of going down to 4 GB)
900p screen
2 years advanced warranty.
What do you guys think, is this worth it? Keep in mind this is through Dell.ca, so US deals are considerably better. -
seems like a good deal to me with warranty and taxes and all.
-
-
Looks like a sweet deal to me. It's more expensive than the US in every other country. I have to buy through Dell Panama and the M15x starts at almost $1700.
-
Some reviews speak of it, however, I can only find reviews that state that as a fact from before the card was actually launched. -
Urgh, got my motherboard replaced today and still my touch buttons are randomly changing colors, guess I'll have to ask alienware to send me another top strip piece.
Another thing that troubles me is when I went to plug my power cord back in for twenty minutes it gave me the message "plugged in, not charging". i tapped on the laptop a bit and then it started charging. I read somewhere that there might be a connection loose? Wouldn't surprise me since the tech didnt do a good job of connecting my right speaker light back up, its not working and he has to come back to open everything back up to reconnect it. SIGH -
Darn...what's with all the motherboard replacements. Seems like almost everyone on this forum has had a replacement for one reason or another.
-
-
So Dell is supposed to be sending out a new AC adaptor and Touchpad for me today. (I complained about how garbage the mouse trackpad is). So we'll see if that helps at all.
The guy who got his 5850 ran vantage and scored around 5000, GPU, apparently there is a driver issue with stock ATI drivers (it doesn't help that dell drivers aren't on the download page). Anyway were waiting to get his new results with the 10.3/4 drivers. -
Good to see Dell is responding quickly this time, Hitokiri!
Hope it all works like it's supposed to. -
If I'm lucky things will work out on the video card front for tomorrow if not well i'll be hopeful for friday.
At the very least, my new touchpad and power adapter arrived now.
So how do I install a touchpad -
Ah found the service manual, that should make this more interesting
-
hahaha i've been gaving links to the service manual since forever, thought you knew it already, but anyways glad you found it.
-
This place is so dead lately.
What's up with everyone? -
Too few people are "just giving a few wacks" lately, Thierry! Many people only write when there's trouble to be fixed.
Wish I had something to write here that would liven up things, but other than that I was given an additional 4 gig of fast internet for this month, nothing has happened today!
What about you, Thierry, anything worth mentioning happened to you? -
hey i'm always here, not good enough for you guys anymore huh, hahaha. just pickup a copy of batman for $10. so far it looks awesome. man been download the new adobe suites, taking forever though.
-
Meh! I'm in a school rush.. Gotta do a bunch of papers, novels, orals, labs and all.. Shucks.
I just downloaded Just Cause 2 so I can try the demo and see if the game is worth buying, but I probably won't have time to play it tonight!
Good thing you got more download! It's not unlimited, but it's already better!
EDIT: Ohai there Inap!
I have the whole adobe suite on a CD, but I dont use it enough to install it on my SSD! -
Man, I've been working all day on this incredibly boring project.! I can't understand why they want to bore people with it in other languages as well!
Yo, Inap! One of the games is fully downloaded! -
thats awesome harry, some of the games once downloaded don't need internet connection to play. so which one is done? sorry to hear about the boring project, my work has gotten busy too, so i'm not here much either, just pop in and out from time to time.
-
Also Harry isnt your firsdt language Deutsch? I might have Deutsch classes in a few months! :O -
It's Half life 2: Lost Coast. I'm now just downloading 1 game at the time to see how that goes.
Yeah, times are busy, but it's all part of life, bro. At least we have some spare time in between unlike Thierry! -
My native language is English. I was born in cold old London!
"Deutsch" means German, but if you need any help with your Deutsch then don't hesitate to ask, bro, and I will make sure you understand everything the teachers don't manage to explain properly! -
Lol, I should not be here.. But am I the only one having horrible problems with youtube? I keep running in to the " An error occured, please try again later. "
:<
Edit:
Ah I see, when I saw your website I couldnt get a single word, so I assumed it was german!
And yeah I know Deutsch means german, I just sound more intelligent using the german pronunciation -
i'm still trying to get my engrish right and you guys are talking about german and all this other stuff.
-
Ha ha ha! You should have clicked on the English button and you could have understood everything, bro! Dutch and German are pretty similar, though.
I have no trouble with youtube. Can watch everything I click on. Maybe your internet connection is too slow! -
-
PLus google fails to install Chrome and my IE 64bit doesnt support flash!
/me dies a little inside -
hahah thanks harry, man start up half life, maybe you'll learn to love fps as much as all of us. but tf2 finishes hit me up and we can frag em' up together.
-
what happen with chrome, i had it working on mine. but didn't like it as much as firefox.
-
-
So the next game I will download is tf2 so we can give it shot!  -
chrome is faster? maybe i should gave it another chance. just to used to firefox.
sure thing harry, try out the half life first to get a feel for fps, if you haven't played any before. -
But with a little bit of tweaking FF can outrank chrome!
Also yeah, I did try to reinstall the installer, fail fail fail.. I dont get it! -
i'll try to install it again to see what happens
-
No, this will be my very maiden voyage in the world of fps!
Now I'll probably start regretting getting the 240, ha ha ha!
And, Chrome gets faster upload speeds on my machine than Firefox, so it opens sites a bit quicker, which is, with slow connection speeds quite noticeable. I'm not sure if the difference between them would be as noticeable for you, though, Inap. Given your internet speed it should be pretty much the same. -
hahaha yeah even if you don't game getting an alienware will sooner or later turn you into one, hahaha.
yup chrome installed fine and youtube and everything works. -
ugh then its me
I'll see late.r. gotta do my homework now -
do you have all the windows update, also maybe could be anti-virus or firewall causing the problem.
-
Good luck with your homework, Thierry! -
Thanks Harry! -
-
I am trying to resume the download of tf2, Inap, but it doesn't go beyond "download starting". Also, it's the only game that hasn't uploaded a single byte as where all other games are Gb's into their download. I wonder what that's all about!
Ha ha ha, always works with the jukebox! -
try the above harry, lol
maybe tf2 is updating or something right now, cause i know there is an update coming for it but don't know when. oh don't worry about it will all be downloaded in a few months, hahahha -
I'll go down the list of downloads then. Eventually they'll all be downloaded. Even it takes me a year! -
Bummer, wanted to play few mins of Just cause 2, my GPU downclocked itself to a mediocre speed. Bawww.

Some processes prevent Chrome from installing. Read this Thierry, it might help.

Good luck with it, bro!
Edit: I am running Chrome (and Firefox) from a memory card and that works great! Maybe you should give that a try!
Here you can find the portable version: http://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/stadt-bremerhaven.de/Chrome/latest_release.exe
For your convinience, I gave you a "Deutsch" version so you can start practicing, bro! Ha ha ha! -
Correct me if i'm wrong but the 240GT should handle every steam game available at nearly full graphics right? lol. I think i've seen netbooks running half life 2 at this point.
all this talk of steam makes me want to play some left 4 dead 2.
-
Just picked up Red Dead Redemption for the 360, its absurd!
