I easily get 2 hours out of the 6-cell, however, I do not play games on my computer. I have a lot of internet windows open, and about 10 programmes and some applications.

It all depends on what you're doing with your lappie. If you don't want to take the risk of regretting anything, get the 9-cell.

I can get over 2 hours with 9 cell with 260m and i7 720QM, on internet and msn and things, my school is done for the year so I can't try it myself, but doing notes in a lecture i'm sure is roughly the same as being on the internet with wifi on. I haven't tried the 6 cell out much tho so can't help there (I have both batteries... but put the 9 cell in cos it lasts longer and I don't need to worry about the weight at the moment)

Probably not in the sense of gaming but multitasking perhaps. I would opt for the 620M if you are a gamer for better performance. Plus you still have hyperthreading.

5870 is equal or better than 260m sli in performance.... 260m hits 6k OC and 5870 hits 10k overclocked(stock voltage) on vantage thats a huge difference.... If u just look at the fps benchmarks for the games yes there is just 15-25 fps increase in games.. but the thing with 260m is its performance is not very constant... when u get some heavy avtion on the game the fps drops and the game stutters... even if the game is giving 40-50 fps rest of the time... 5870 gives a constant fps even with heavy action kicking in the game.... the gameplay is much much more smoother with 5870....(no ups and downs like 260m GTX)..... hope that helps ur decision to buy 5870m... villosa u as well.. lol!!!

and hey villosa will this optical bay caddy fit in... New Laptop 12.7mm SATA TO SATA 2ND HDD HARD DRIVE caddy on eBay (end time 29-May-10 11:01:10 BST)

Man I ain't answering you question after you just put me down like that for not knowing my GPU's...Heck NO!

No seriously that was some seriously good info. I will get the 5870 when I get the money to. +rep to you bro.

To answer your question, yes it will fit but you might want to ask if the back SATA, where it connects to the motherboard, is a slim SATA or not. More than likely it is and you will be fine, but I want you to make sure so everything will go smoothly. Nothing sucks more than getting something and it's not compatible.

Lol, I'm always up late. Honestly, aside from traveling with the laptop, I'm always on here. My fiancee always asks "forum again...?" to which I just nod and add "it's really not an addiction"

Something on my mind, you have to get the i7-720M or above to get 1333 RAM speed right?

G3 are due in the fall right? Is it that much better than the G2s even? Games take me about 5 minutes I think, never really paid much attention to it. It is pretty fast though that's for sure.

    Also...someone give me a prescription 5870!

Well I'm still up...been thinking, I think I will pass on the 5870. Can't afford it right now and I really want to bring my Rig back for intensive gaming. I mean, I just can't retire a rig with a Vantage score of P24968 and 45FPS Very High with 16xQ in Crysis. That, I think, would be wrong of me.

stock 5850 is about the same as maxed oc 260m. so 5870 is much better but will be hotter. price of power is heat, but it is welled managed with the excellent cooling of the M15x.

I think my LCD is malfunctioning. I press FN +F4/F5 for screen brightness, the OSD pops up and changes as I press the keys. Yet the screen doesn't dim at all. When I let the laptop idle and the screen eventually turns off, when I move the mouse to turn it on again, there's a tiny white flash on the sides then it turns on.
Any of you ever experience this problem before?

I just did a clean install of the OSD, all other functions work. except for the screen brightness. I can mute, turn off and on the LEDs/Touchpad but the brightness function does not work, not even from within windows.

Nope, just tried 4 different Nvidia drivers, it won't dim. When I unplug it, it usually dims for battery profile, it's not happening now. This wasn't happening before I upgraded the Command Center.

    @EGM92

Yeah I highly recommend the OS be reinstalled and all the drivers be installed in their correct orders.

    Chipset
    OSD
    Display
    Everything else
    Command Center

It's time consuming and tedious but it should work after that. Oh and I always allow the system to reboot when the driver requires it. Don't know if that makes any difference but it just sounds like you got some glitching due to conflicts etc between the drivers.
