it works as good as the windows default drivers or better now imo

i have tried the drivers with linux and they make this touchpad... one of the best touchpads i have ever used... but the dell drivers make the touchpad crap!!! these drivers are better than dells drivers but i prefer the windows default ones...

this place so dead lately, go so bored decided to do my thermal paste again, hahaha
hey wiz i'm trying to start learning linux, is it easy to use. -
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
yes.. its easy to use!!! but its bit different from windows... and i am not a pro at it as well..
.. -
i have a ubuntu disk i could use and follow along with what you guys are doing just let me know what to test.
-
hahah downloading ubuntu right now, probably make a bootable flash drive.
-
Good luck with that inap!
I've failed to try it in the last year, even though I've always wanted to! -
I think I've asked this but I couldn't find the post.... how hot should my cpu get? right now its at 79 degrees C and im kind of worried.
-
-
It's while gaming. Thank you for the reply. At which point should I be concerned? the cpu cores are in the 79-84 range right now.
-
the cpu is actually rated up to 100 degrees but i would start being worried around the 85-90 range. your temps are still a little high though, so if you see it go any higher, then i recommend redoing the paste.

been reading the M17x threads, seems like the r2 have throttling issues too, so they are turning to riva tuner for a fix also. if dell decides to fix this maybe M15x may get a fix also, well at least i hope they do.
-
Well we all hope for that very much have this problem fixed and who buy the top specs and still not having it run as its supposed to.
-
Apparently my shipment is still in "US Ground Line Haul" right now. Its been like that for 3 business days. Is Purolator notorious for updating their status right when it is about to arrive?
-
Hi everyone, did alienware announced anything new @ computex?
-
-
-
Good to know thanks man. I was hoping it would be here for the weekend, but I guess that's unlikely to happen.
-
-
On a side note, I finally for the first time hooked up my Xbox 360 wireless receiver (I forgot I even had one) and used it to play Split Second (since I don't have a racing wheel). Its a nice change to be able to use a controller for some games

I've had a few laptops sent to me this past year and generally speaking Dell tends to ship my PC's out on a friday. I usually receive it by Tuesday on one odd occasion a wednesday. To be honest I would have though it would have arrived by now considering its Wednesday. If you don't see any updates tonight or tomorrow morning then I wouldn't expect it to get to you until monday.
If it gets into canada Tonight, it'll get sorted out and for sure by friday you'll have it. If it doesn't come in tonight Then monday. -

Hello guys, just ordered my m15x yesterday...basic specs are in my sig. I was able to keep the total price (after tax/shipping) under my $2000 limit, so I'm very pleased.
I went with the stock screen, for a few reasons...mainly because I am obsessive about playing games in native resolution, and want to future-proof (if there is such a way) the laptop as much as possible, with regards to upcoming titles. Which brings me to my first question...can anyone compare the overall screen quality (i.e., brightness, colors, etc) of both screens? My old laptop was a sager np8662, with the stock screen of 1680x1050, compared to the upgrade 1920x1200...there was, according to most, a significant difference in quality between the two.
Also, I've heard that replacing the optical drive CAN be done, but its a little more involved than most other laptops, considering the slot-load design, have there been any guides or posts regarding this? -

Congratz!!!
As for the Optical drive HDD replacement guide...
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...drive-hdd-caddy-installation-56k-warning.html -
both screens are great, they are bright and i consider them among one of the best screens on a laptop, only problem is glare.
this is a guide for replace the optical drive to an hdd, so the steps are pretty much the same for your needs.

anyone installed the new version of Command Center yet?
dell shows version 2.5.48.0, A06 with release date of 27/05/2010
if i was to install it do you just install over the old version or is it best to first uninstall previous version first? -
uninstall the one currently and then install the new one.
CC is not fond of being overwritten -
LOL not fond of being installed at all is more like it. If it wasn't for the lights, I wouldn't even bother with CC lol.
You guys, the M15x crew, are the awesome ones! -
Hey, after installing the MS drivers for the trackpad it doesn´t light up and can´t change anything in the command center for the trackpad :S
-
try pressing fn+f12, but when lights are on trackpad is on, and lite off is trackpad off.
-
Oh thanks man! The thing was that the trackpad was working while the lights didn´t. Did see now that f12 says T-Pad
!
-
no problem razz, was playing around with ubuntu today, and wow the trackpad feels totally different, so responsive. but oh well never use it much anyways. man i guess M15x are all good right now, cause this thread is so dead, hahhahah.
harry where are you? miss you bro, hahhaha -
Okay nice! Yeah I prefer a mouse and if I´m using the trackpad it would be to start a movie or something
.
Btw, do you know how to fix the cursor? It´s like huge sometimes :S haha -
haven't seen a solution, and don't have a dell 5850 card to trouble shoot. are you on latest bios?
-
Ok, yeah I think I have the latest, have the 10.5.
-
latest bios is A06 and newest ati driver is 10.5.
the 10.5 gave me some wierd issues so i went back to 10.3 for the ati's. -
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
What wierd issues did you get inap.. And whats that "m18x-3" on ur sig.. Lol!!
-
-
Haha didn't think anyone would noticed the sig, got bored and messed around with it. Yeah I was getting the driver failed and recover message all the time with that driver.
-
