You can choose not to have it installed. Plus the uninstall option is alway there.

 

Well I suppose, I just left that option there when I ordered mine.

On another note: is there a way to make the OSD popups stay after i sleep my laptop?

I actually got the shipping confirmation on the 1st. I just checked today and it still says "Information Temporarily Unavailable". Estimated delivery is the 10th.

The GTX460m has been spotted on an MSI laptop so I think its likely to be the successor to the GTX260m on the M15x. It will be interesting to see how it compares with the 5850...

 

nice, hope you get your hands on it soon man, i don'y really see anything major coming out for M15x, maybe newer cpu's, but we;ll just have to wait and see.

Now for the serious thing, my M15x has been going sloooow lately, and it's making strange noise. For example, my internet was horribly slow, I couldnt even load speedtest.net..
Now it seems to be running perfectly but I'm still concern, I might have a virus, though Hijackthis and Malwarebytes didnt find it..
Gonna open my case to see if there's something stucked on the mobo. If it doesnt work I'll run a complete scan with avast..!

 

yeah i've been running into some wireless problems too, like yesterday it was running awesomely slow, but the magical power drain trick it seems to be working fast again. just receive my intel 6300 card, gonna plop it in right now, but can't test untill i get home.

hmmm have you guys gone to intels site and download the latest drivers from there cause i haven't had these issues you guys are getting.

hi i want help in two questions:
-i want to put a 920xm core i7 in my laptop, but i have the gtx 260m, will i have the trothling isues?
-and if i buy a engineering sample that is less expensive, what are the worst problems i could have?

 

1. Possibly, though not all report to have throttling.
2. I hear i7 ES are terribly hot even on idle. I'd go OEM if you can. I'm sure you know the ebay seller...lol.

 

yeah people tend to stay away from from es chips, i had the 920/260m combo i didn't get throttling in any games i've play.

 

The 920/260m combo I have gets throttling in every game I play... but then again, all of my games crank at least one CPU core to 100%.

The RivaTuner fix solves the problem nicely though.

 

I am not foaming at the mouth my m11x is just fine!

 

Is the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 that much better than the default card the M15x shipped with?

Also I gota cheque for my birthday so I'm looking at SSDs. What's hot right now? I remember people getting excited when babyhemi was selling the Intel X25-M SSD... is it still a good buy?

 

most people including myself are fine with the 5300 card, i just upgrade because i want to feel special, hahhahah

babyhemi ssd are a good price for oem, but prices should start dropping once the g3 hits the market.

can some one point me in the direction of the alienware wallpapers / defaultbackground images available for the M15x on this forum somewhere please?

 

So had a chance to play around with the new M15x yesterday. Overall pretty impressed! Couple of things, which I've noticed but not sure if they're actually issues or not:

1. Seems to have a very sharp kind of noise that’s only audible when on battery. Seems like the hardrive. Its not loud or disturbing by any means.
2. After uninstalling/reinstalling touchpad drivers, fx lighting does not seem to turn on around the touchpad. Anyone know why?
3. That damn language keyboard keeps popping up, anyone know how to remove that toolbar from always appearing?
4. Had some problems with the 10.5 drivers. Seems there are some extracting issues with the ATI installer. I had to go into device manager to install them, but it doesn’t install CCC. Not really a problem, but wondering if there's a way around this?
5. Noticing theres some flex around the left arrow key. Is this normal to have?

Everything else is amazing. My WEI is all above 7 except for harddrive at 5.9. Haven't gotten a chance to play games or anything, just making sure if everything is working properly first.

 

Hey, the more you play the more you'll like

1. The HDD they use is prone to making a kind of clicking sound. If that's what you got then it's safe to keep using it but I think Dell will replace it if you report the fault.
2. Reinstalling the touchpad can disable it in FX, try pressing Fn+F12 to re-enable it. If no good then try removing and reinstalling the command center.
3. It should stay away if you right-click on it and select close, perhapse check that it's not been put in the Startup folder in the All Programs menu.
4. Seems to be an issue with ATI drivers that were not released by Dell, I haven't heard of a work around other than what you did.
5. A few people have had flex there too, some take the keyboard out and gently bend it a bit to even it out.

Now, take 2 games and see me in the morning.

When I get home, I'll test some games out and try to fix up the FX lighting on the mouse pad. Games on my list are Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dirt 2, and Portal (since it comes with it). I used to play WoW, but don't anymore. Maybe when I'm back into it, I'll test it on this laptop. My old laptop was a Toshiba A300 with a 3650 DDR2 video card, and 2.0 core 2 duo. So lol its quite the step up. I had the MSI GX640 in between for a few days, but got it refunded cause speakers were busted and it ran way too hot. When I compare those two laptops to the M15x, I can finally see the difference in quality.

 

To install CC just download the ati 5850 driver files from dell and extract the files and exit the setup.... Go to the folder u extracted ur files.... >Apps>CCC>Setup.exe.... this will install CCC.....
